Reincarnated Jester: Taming Players-Chapter 124: Challange
Chapter 124: Challange
As she contemplated what to do, Jung was in the mood to tease her sister-in-law.
Before this encounter, he had spoken politely to her.
Lilia was the academy principal, and he quite enjoyed conversing with her, trying not to get on her nerves.
However, he no longer showed a drop of regard towards her.
Even if the respect wasn’t gone, Jung loved taunting and angering her now that they were practically family.
It was part of his personality.
Nero’s absence played a small part as well.
"Do you want me to let you win? Like, for family bonding and shit."
Seeing that Lilia didn’t answer, he struggled to sidestep her offense but still continued.
"Now I know why we had to fight in this secretive place. Is this arena for the opponents you know you can’t beat?"
Again, Lilia’s magical ability drew closer to him, and as much as he tried to make it look like an easy fight, he struggled to the end.
The principal smiled at his last words.
It was her usual sweet smile, the one she had shown him when they first met.
She and Nira didn’t really look like sisters.
Honestly, it was understandable as Nira’s appearance came from Earth, and since they were siblings only on Maskera, the resemblance was almost nonexistent.
However, the way they carried themselves could point out some similarities.
After seeing her old self was back, Jung didn’t attempt to finish her off.
It would be a hard task anyway, and he had no intention of harming his sister-in-law.
So his axes disappeared, as did his persona from Lilia’s wounds.
Her clothes and bleeding flesh went back into a perfect shape soon after.
"What a beautiful family reunion, right?" Nira said, and walking up to the arena, she stood between them.
Jung changed his appearance, took Balatro’s avatar, and held her hand.
"I agree. It’s a good time," he said, waiting for the principal.
She had no reason to antagonize him any further but squinted her eyes and warned,
"If you dare and hurt my sister, not only me, but others would hunt you down, too."
"You mean your dumb brothers?" Jung mused.
"Wait, you know them?" she exclaimed, darting her eyes wide.
Then she looked at Nira and asked,
"What did they say? How come they didn’t dissemble him?"
Her question sounded like a matter of fact as if the sage god and the creator god were casual murderers protecting their sisters.
Nira shook her head.
"No, they really liked him. At least he is not dead, right? It’s thanks to them I am back. We should have a family reunion sometime."
"Sure, dear," Lilia said cheerfully but glanced at Jung seriously. "Who would have thought our Messiah would turn out to be my sister’s husband? Did I already tell you I would cut your tiny dick off if you—"
"First of all, yes, you said that. Secondly, I’m not afraid of your threats. Thirdly, no sun will rise on the day I would hurt her. And lastly, it’s not tiny, okay? You can ask your sister!"
His voice was louder, but he didn’t yell.
It was his usual way of exaggerating his emotions, and if Nero was around, she might have cracked some hate speeches against him.
Fortunately or unfortunately, she wasn’t present, and Lilia ignored almost everything he had said.
"As for the matter of Fracture and how to deal with it, everything is ready on my part," she explained. "Every power in the human domain is on our side. You just need to play your part."
Before Jung asked for the details, Nira rested her hands on his shoulders, hugging him from behind.
She loved doing that, even in their first life.
It made Jung forget to breathe.
"If I were an Archeon, this would have been a piece of cake."
"But you gave up that ultimate power and doomed the world because of one man," Lilia said, but there was no malice, scolding, or judgment in her words.
"I mean, I would do it in every universe, in every chance I would get," Nira spoke, leaning in and kissing Jung’s cheeks from both sides, leaving brownish lipstick marks.
He didn’t clean his face, enjoying her warmth and softness.
’Every struggle was worth it,’ he thought. ’I would do it countless times over.’
The principal no longer looked angry upon seeing their romantic endeavors.
She didn’t even look uncomfortable, but the same couldn’t be said about Snowshade, whose cheeks were red in embarrassment as she approached them.
Seeing her arrival, Lilia was reminded of something.
"Ooh, yes. I promise to feed you like a pig," she said, descending from the arena.
Others followed her, guessing her objective.
"We have pills, and I mean a lot of them. You may nibble, devour, or put them in your ass. I don’t care; do what you have to do."
"I may consider doing it if you can help me with that," he joked but got smacked by Nira.
Not saying anything else and only talking about the second apocalypse, they finally reached the secret room.
It was located past the Arcane Chambers and was even more secretive than them.
Jung felt a vast amount of pressure and energy coming from the locked door, showing that valuable goodies were hidden behind.
Jung wanted to storm inside, dive into whatever valuables he would find, and steal everything in front of the principal, esteemed professor, and academy’s founder.
But he held himself like a good child and only went inside when he was allowed to.
Then he saw a sack of pills stretching through the entire room.
It wasn’t some shabby and small turf but a vast vault filled with countless riches.
"You can play with them as much as you want. I am leaving my hopes in your hands."
Lilia said, watching him eagerly as if waiting for his power-up.
She didn’t know the extent of his current tier and future potential, but Jung was the only bet she was willing to go all in on.
The lofty den had not only pills, weapons, herbs, rare cooking, and blacksmithing materials, but also Arcane Crystals as well.
It was a peculiar situation for Jung.
It had been ages since he was born into this world, but it was his first time seeing these many different kinds of resources that could aid his and humanity’s advancement as well.
"It’s going to be long fucking days," he said almost dejectedly yet excitedly at the same time.
Everyone looked at him with interest, anticipating his next move.
Nira understood his plans, and releasing his hand, she kissed it beforehand.
"You may start, my love."
Jung nodded, crouching towards the crystals to find a use for them.
"So cheesy!" Lilia commented with a shudder.
He ignored her remark, taking the object to feel the energy inside.
Generally, Arcane Crystals were used to enchant weapons and gear.
Their practicality was fairly limited, and as someone who could wield persona energy, Jung had been close to no use for them.
But he knew how pills worked in this world and was proficient in manipulating their energies.
He had an idea to employ the same tactics and abuse crystal in the same way as pills.
So he started by separating the persona from the crystal, feeling their inner attributes.
Compared to the pills, crystals weren’t limited to archetypes and could be used in various ways.
"I am going to become the greatest smith and forger in this world!" he announced.
Nira rewarded him with encouragement and a smile.
She was the original creator of archetypes, pills, crystals, and every other magical power in Maskera.
As someone who had the greatest knowledge, not only did she know what Jung was doing, but she could also easily surpass him in that regard.
After upholding her wifely duties, she wanted to aid him.
"Let’s see who is better and can do a lot more in two days!" she said, catching Jung’s attention.
"You dare challenge me?" he exclaimed. "You will regret facing me in this game. Don’t get your feelings hurt."
Both of them chuckled and started something that could only be described as relentless and chaotic work.
Lilia and Snowshade watched them from the sidelines, witnessing their burning passion as they competed.
Jung and Nira’s goal was to harness power from Arcane Crystals and make them even more potent for humans to use.
They merged them, increasing their energy output several-fold.
Their creations would be used in this upcoming war by humanity’s greatest force.
Only those two could create something so groundbreaking, and thanks to Lilia, who collected resources from world leaders, they could spend every waking moment birthing extraordinary items.
[***** Arcane Crystal]
-An object that holds huge amounts of energy and could easily produce mass explosions or enchant weapons and armor based on the user’s archetype.
Even the system explained its capabilities, but couldn’t really name them.
The explosive attribute was a bonus Jung hadn’t been expecting but liked, nonetheless.
After two days of nonstop working, they finally exhausted the entire stock of crystals this academy and various powers had to offer.
Now it was time to see who had won the challenge.
