Chapter 122: Sister

Not even Snowshade showed up.

Jung waited for her appearance and the reason she had to come with him to the ruler’s realm.

The most sane argument would be that she aided or affected Elara’s actions in the palace, but he couldn’t tell.

Nira had a knowing smile plastered on her face, radiating enough charm to make his head dizzy.

"I can open the abyss," she said, and materialized a familiar door.

She was a lover god, walking in the mortal realm, and her power was unimaginable and divine.

The system didn’t disappear either.

It just merged with her consciousness as she got her memories back.

Jung crossed the abyss, following his lover and anticipating the system’s messages.

Thankfully, he didn’t have to wait too long, and familiar sounds reverberated in his head.

[Ding!]

[Quest I completed!]

[Technically, you didn’t save her, but your actions indirectly helped her.]

[You did a good job. Congrats.]

The changes were easy to spot.

First of all, the old mechanical voices were nowhere to be found.

Nira’s current voiceover covered it, sounding sweet and friendly as she spoke with love and care.

She also congratulated Jung.

It was something that her previous versions seldom did. freeweɓnovel.cøm

[You get an Arc as an unknown reward.]

[Enjoy!]

"Finally!" Jung exclaimed, checking the new addition to his status window.

<Crownless Monarch

-The more people are on your side, the stronger they can become. The boost might be up to two entire tiers.

"What a fucking, dumb, shit, selfless Arc is this?" Jung roared.

He expected a flashier ability, but instead, all he got was a supporting role and only augmented others.

On paper, it was a great Arc, especially in this apocalypse, when cats and players were on his side.

But they were only a small part of his forces.

Now that he was back in the academy, it was time for him to abuse his messiah status and not only demand even more resources but also submission as well.

’I am going to run them dry,’ he thought evilly.

This Arc would considerably improve humanity’s survival even if it didn’t increase his strength.

"When you become a god, Arc wouldn’t really matter. You can just act upon your domain. In your case, it’s a keeper, and as an all-rounder, your arsenal is wider than any other god."

Nira lifted his spirits.

Jung cheered at her words and waited for other notifications.

Noticing his eagerness, she delivered them right away.

[You somewhat completed Quest III by helping Nero and the cats. They didn’t go extinct thanks to you, but the unknown reward won’t be delivered because you didn’t kill the ruler god. To quench your sadness, your aptitude and affinity with cats are maxed out. Rejoice, you are their greatest buddy.]

"Another disappointment," he said.

Cats were already in his tamed category, meaning he got no rewards for this quest.

However, even his greedy nature was okay with that, as the reason he wanted to protect the cats from perishing was his love and affection for them.

Of course, Nero played a huge part, but no world existed where he would admit that.

As for the final quest, there was no need for the system to deliver any reports.

She literally stood before him, proving that his sixth quest was successful and her final evolution truly happened.

It was his new window, fresh with a clean interface and one addition that showed the timer.

’It’s a good feature.’

Nodding, Jung acknowledged his remaining time, and before reaching the second door, he checked his almost-completed Arc.

<Shifting Cloud Stage: 4/5

Progress: 79%

Not much was needed—only 21% was left for him to fill his favorite and most useful Arc to this day.

No matter what bullshit abilities he acquired, Jung’s appreciation never wavered as Shifting Cloud constantly evolved, boosting his senses and augmenting his physique.

His eyesight, hearing, sense of touch, and smell shaped the world around him.

It allowed Jung to feel in control.

It was an addictive sensation, and mixed with time-slowing properties, Jung felt like he was managing dimensions.

With a heart that beat in excitement, he crossed the abyss and saw the door.

Not wasting time, Jung left this nothingness, appearing in a familiar great hall.

Only four years had passed from his point of view, but the academy had lived these past years without him.

It was time for him to take control and remind them who the main character of this world was.

He also understood that familiar students would no longer be present.

Ronan and Mira would have graduated by now.

Even others who spoke behind his back challenged him to duels or just disliked him wouldn’t be there.

Jung’s thoughts raced when he saw Snowshade standing on the same stage on which he met her for the first time.

The hall was empty, with no students or professors behind.

"Long time no see," he said, approaching the woman.

She seemed almost unchanged, as if the past years couldn’t touch her.

Nira wandered beside him, staring at both of them with curiosity, but with no drop of jealousy.

She appeared confident, even if she loved to joke around.

"Indeed," Snowshade said. "I could never have imagined things would unfold this way."

"What happened to you?" Jung asked her.

The woman noted Nira but didn’t comment.

"After we entered the dungeon, and the darkness swallowed me, I found myself in a chamber. It was more like a chapel, with no doors and only windows. I spent hours, possibly days, trying to find a way out until I met Ophelia. She helped me escape and killed the guy who imprisoned us on the way. It took us quite some time to do it, but she was determined and plotted with malice."

Taking a second to breathe in, she continued,

"And before I knew it, I was back in the city with four years having already passed."

She had no clue about Elara’s true identity, nor did she know where she had been or whose murder she aided.

’Good job, sis,’ Jung complimented in his head.

"When did you arrive? Do you know her whereabouts? What did she talk about?" he threw questions one after another.

Snowshade didn’t have to think.

She shook her head and said,

"We returned two days ago, but she mentioned nothing about her plans."

He knew she would be in Inbox City, but her attitude still baffled him.

She could have just waited for him, as there was no need for her to hurry this much.

Then he glanced at Nira and said to Snowshade,

"Let me introduce her to you; she is my wife, and she will help us defeat this upcoming apocalypse."

He spoke slowly, with a grin on his face.

"Wife?" the woman exclaimed. "How come? When did you—"

Her surprise was cut short when Nira offered her hand for a handshake.

"Nice to meet you, but we don’t have time to waste," she said, startling Jung and Snowshade at the same time.

But her next words stunned both of them even further, leaving the professor with an open mouth.

"We need to meet my little sister—Lilia, I mean. She is waiting for us."

"Your sister?" Snowshade asked.

Jung was laughing nonstop, holding his stomach with his hands.

"What’s up with these sibling games?" he asked, not stopping his chuckle.

Nira didn’t wait for them to collect their thoughts and took Jung’s arm, leading him to Lilia’s office.

She had no problem navigating through complicated corridors and walking with precise and steady steps, reaching the door fairly quickly.

’She said that she founded the academy.’

Jung remembered but stormed into the room.

"Well," he announced. "How are you doing, my brand-new sister-in-law? Don’t expect me to talk politely, but I am all for you calling me brother."

Lilia stood in front of the door, scrutinizing the newcomers.

She lowered her brows and rolled her eyes, but instead of answering, she approached Nira and hugged her.

She didn’t speak.

Only her serious and stoic visage crumbled as she cried in Nira’s arms.

Then she started mumbling like a baby, but not a single sentence was coherent.

As much as Jung wanted to make fun of her...

Of course, he didn’t hold back.

"My bad, I totally forgot to bring tissues for this family reunion. Do you want me to get them from the expelled students?"

His tone was friendly and mocking, but seeing that it was ignored, he added,

"It’s cute and all, but I am confused like I was watching a dead man bleed. What are guys going to do next, braiding each other’s hair?"

This time it worked.

Lilia released Nira from her embrace, glaring at Jung.

’Here it is!’

He expected her response eagerly, but her words caught him off guard.

"So it was this fucker," she said, going beyond her usual innocent demeanor.

"I am going to cut your dick off. Come with me; we have a thing to settle."

She seemed angry, not giving Jung time to ask for his promised pills and other resources.

Nira didn’t stop her sister.

She almost encouraged her and led them to the secluded arena.

’Guess I am about to fight against my sister-in-law, who happens to be a Tier XII powerhouse and one of the strongest humans alive.’

He thought cheerfully.

’What a magnificent comeback it is!’
