Chapter 100: Frozen In Time

"Balatro is here!"

"What is going on? Where are we?"

"It’s cold. I’m freezing!"

Exclaimed the confused players, and they wanted to get answers from Jung.

Not to baffle their expectations, he said.

"We are in a ruler god’s realm. This is his domain, and based on my calculations, we’ll be spending about a year here."

He revealed the gods’ existence and mentioned them in a casual tone.

"God?"

"What? Gods are real in this world?"

"How come we have never heard of this?"

"Maskera is more mysterious and vast than we imagined. This is a huge discovery."

"This happens when we follow Balatro for a day?!"

"But this place looks scary, and spending one whole year here doesn’t sound too good."

Their reactions varied.

Most of them were excited, but some weaker-minded players feared endangering their accounts.

But hope existed.

He stood with his usual nonchalance, acting as if everything was within his grasp and there was nothing to worry about.

"Easy there," HugeP spoke, calming them.

"This is a great opportunity. No one besides us knows about gods, and we are in their realm. It means we can advance faster than others, but it’s a pity we didn’t bring the entire guild with us."

His words worked wonders, soothing listeners with his calmness and confidence.

Little did they know HugeP wasn’t confident himself, but he believed in what Jung could do.

The way Balatro spoke and acted gave him a theory he wanted to test.

"Are you, by any chance, connected to the gods?" he asked, startling others with his daring question.

As for Jung, he was having fun watching how the situation unfolded.

’He is a good commander,’ he noted upon seeing how well HugeP handled them.

The question itself brought an ominous smile to his face, birthing a mischievous idea, and if he played his cards right, it might even promote his reputation.

"Gods? Do you mean those losers? I have no relationship with them whatsoever."

Jung said, and pretending to be offended, he added with malice.

"But I am here because he wants to settle things with me."

Even though he implied he had no connection to the gods, players felt that there was some kind of bad blood between them.

And for a certain god to threaten Jung with revenge, it sounded like he was his equal, if not superior.

A completely new revelation was created about him.

Now they thought of him as a divine being who was undoubtedly the main character of this game.

Jung basked in their reactions.

Loud murmurs reverberated in front of him, and closing his eyes, he said,

"This place is no joke. I will not protect you, nor do I need extra weight. If you are coming with me, you need to get strong."

Then he reached his inventory, materializing pills out of nowhere.

"My authority is intercepted in his realm. The world and the Archeons are nerfing me, and we need to be quick with our battles. But before that, I have colla— pills for you to strengthen yourself."

He almost said ’collar,’ and before the players became agitated, Jung revealed another piece of information.

"They aren’t for free, though."

Then he wasted no time and proceeded to explain his offer.

That wasn’t all.

He had one important question for the players.

"You guys probably don’t know, but four years have passed on Maskera. Check how it’s going on Earth and try to contact the outside world."

"What? How can it be?" HugeP asked.

"There is no way. We would have been woken up if that really happened. The capsule didn’t act up, or no one tried to wake us up."

The young boy couldn’t believe his claim.

Knowing that The World of Archetypes wasn’t just a game, Jung knew time dilation could also affect Earth.

Other players had a hard time believing it as well, but after checking through forums and internet videos, they stood before the solid evidence.

It wasn’t only in Maskera.

Even time on their planet didn’t wait for them, and four long years had truly passed.

To clear their confusion, Jung explained, "Your accounts are frozen in time. Time didn’t wait for you, but it doesn’t mean it could just abandon you."

Seeing their confused expression, he shook his head and said,

"Never mind that. The gods are too complicated for mortals... We are going to spend the next year in this place, and we have to be ready for the second Fracture."

HugeP and others couldn’t just accept the crisis.

Yet the lack of options and the way Jung hurried and handed out his pills altered everything.

"Have a good one," he said after trading at a terrible exchange rate.

Luckily for him, his guild members didn’t complain, and their pockets were much fatter than the average player’s.

Both sides were content with how things turned out.

Especially Jung, who thought to himself, "I think a choker suits them."

Glancing at Nero as she licked her paws, he added, "Do you want to try one as well?"

She just snorted, ignoring him altogether.

The blizzard started subsiding.

Jung’s headache was persistent, but his beloved players provided him with enough solidity for him to go on.

The riches he got from them certainly helped.

"Let’s move on. We shouldn’t stay here," he said. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

"Where are we going?" HugeP asked, searching for the path.

"We need to go up this hill. Be careful and don’t touch the weapons; they have divine imprints on them."

Jung explained and took the lead.

Players followed him with expectations and a sense of wonder, but HugeP whispered another question.

"What about the woman? Where is she?"

Jung smiled visibly and said,

"Don’t worry about her. We are going to meet her soon enough."

Then they walked through a weakened blizzard, yet the temperature remained critically low.

No one complained except Nero, who had another reason to make Jung mad.

"Why won’t you eat the last pills to reach the next tier?"

It wasn’t about the question but the way she spoke.

Her tone was demanding and mocking at the same time.

"Thanks for reminding me," Jung answered sarcastically and ate three Goated pills.
