Chapter 10 - 10;Frost Kong.

Skysher stood frozen, holding the zephyroot and the infant monkey. His senses screamed at him to run and escape, but he knew he wasn't going to outrun whatever monster stood behind him.

Skysher took a quick glance at the zephyroot he had on his right hand, sweat trickling down his face. Considering his situation, he knew it was his only chance.

Skysher gulped, letting go of the small white monkey. Was it a good choice? Yes. However, Whether it was going to save him or not fully depended on his luck. Which he had none of.

He thought by letting go of the monkey, he would get a small opportunity to escape.

Hoping that his distraction worked, Skysher took off without thinking, his legs flying across the mountain relief. However, the mother Kong was not about to give up pursuit like that. Letting out a roar like thunder, it started to run after him, determined to squish him.

The roar spread far and wide, like the bell from the heavens doomed to mark Skysher's grave. Skysher nervously turned to look behind him, and there it was behind him. The majestic Frost Kong. A powerful and terrifying Martial Beast.

Martial Beasts were many in the Martial World. They mostly roamed in the wild, Away from human civilization. Even then, they were a valuable asset to Artisans.

Because they also had the ability to form a Martial Core, they were hunted down and their cores extracted. After extraction, Artisans would absorb their core, boosting their Arts, energy manipulation, and allowing some to even ascend.

Other than their cores, Martial Beasts were also hunted for their tasty meat and organs. Their meat was rich and nourishing. It also held traces of Martial Energy in it, which made it even better.

Their meat was used as the main ingredient in the diet of Artisans and sometimes even normal people.

Mainly those who had to exert a lot of energy towards their work would feast on it to replenish their strength and fulfill their hearts.

Thus Martial Beasts were an important part of the economy of the Human domain. The beasts not only brought money to the market but also jobs. However, everything has a dark side. The truth remained that this job was very dangerous.

Martial beasts were also divided into levels. Hence the stronger the beast, the harder the hunt.

Their levels, however, were not differentiated from the Martial levels. The Artisans and the Beasts shared the same rankings. The higher the rank of the Martial Beast, the stronger their opponent.

Like any beast region, Yunshan Mountain also held its own Martial beasts. However, it was safe. Most of the Martial Beasts were weak and not rage full. But they were very protective of their territories.

"Fuck!!" Skysher yelled as he squinted for shelter. Knowing that otherwise, he would end up as the tiny snack to the brute Queen behind him.

Skysher gritted his teeth. This was the 3rd time he was running from a towering giant, and according to his previous encounters, history was sure to repeat itself. It would be over for him once it caught up to him, she would crush him.

Fighting was also off the table; judging by its size, Skysher was sure that it was as powerful as a Martial Warrior, if not stronger. But running was not a good plan either; Sooner than later, it would catch up to him.

[Ding]

The system appeared before Skysher once more.

>Haven't you learned anything from your previous lesson?

"Tch," Skysher snarled as he gazed on the panel. Heat rising to his chest. "Why don't you just help me out instead of mocking me huh?" Skysher growled, his nose flaring with each ragged breath.

>Are you willing to sell some of your remaining time?

Skysher mouth sprung open as he stared at the suggestion. Glancing behind him, the Frost Kong was still chasing him. A sweat escaped his face, his remaining brain cell fighting for an answer.

Suddenly, a bright idea lit up in Skysher's mind. The built-up pressure and nervousness led him to his answer. Skysher smiled as he glanced at the zephyroot he had on hand. It was his only chance.

"Yeahh," he yelled out, approving of his plan. Not knowing that the system registered it as acceptance of its suggestion.

[System Alert]

>Good choice! 20 minutes have been deducted from your remaining time.

"What!" Skysher snapped. His eyes twitching at the system.

[Hint]

>Eat the zephyroot!

Skysher clenched his fists, a deep red appearing on his face. He was scammed. "Bitch! I already figured out that by myself!!" he growled.

>Well, then, good luck figuring out how to find 48 more zephyroots in the next 21 minutes!

Skysher mouth flung open at the system's message. 'Twenty-one minutes!' his mind crumbled. Twenty-one minutes were all he had left to find all of those zephyroots. It was, without a doubt, impossible.

But then something crept into Skysher's mind. Questions. Zephyroot was an herb that was used to replenish and store strength. But in other cases, it was used to awaken as well. Just like how he used it.

Skysher thought back to when he was collecting the zephyroot, the small Frost Kong he had picked up had no energy coming off of him whatsoever. Furthermore, it didn't fight back.

The dots had connected. The young Frost Kong had not awakened and his mom was using the zephyroots to awaken him. Meaning, it must've been gathering zephyroots. And what better place to store it than its cave?

Skysher gasped. The realization hitting him like a storm. If he somehow managed to locate the cave of the Frost Kong, he would easily find all the zephyroot he needed. Or he might not and would fail.

Yet it didn't matter; the clock was ticking on him, and Skysher had made up his mind. It was now or never. Whether the risk was worth it or not, depended on his luck.

Out of nowhere, Skysher stopped in his tracks. Wasting no time he turned back, standing firmly to wait on the Frost Kong. A small smile came to his face as he saw the Frost Kong raging behind him.

Like a flash, the Frost Kong was upon him. Dust and dirt flew everywhere as it picked up Skysher with its ginormous hands. Letting out a huge scream at Skysher covering his whole body in saliva.

Skysher smirked. This was his plan, if he was going down, he was taking the Kong with him.

Without a word, Skysher took the zephyroot and threw it to his mouth. Biting into its tough skin and munching on its soft and mushy inner parts. His hands shaking and his eyes closed, he awaited his judgment.

But nothing came!

Skysher stood there in silence, seconds turning into minutes and minutes turning to centuries. Nothing was happening, no lightning lashed out to strike him, nor did he get the speed he needed. Nothing!

Skysher nervously opened his eyes; his plan had failed terribly, and he was done for. The Frost Kong was not waiting anymore as it took Skysher towards its mouth to swallow him.

Skysher's face went white.

'Shit!' his mind dashed to think how he was going to escape, the easiest path it could come up with; Scream!.

"Ahhhhh," Skysher screamed to his highest tone, closing his eyes. As if on cue, dark clouds started to gather from the sky like before. Lightning crackling between them and thunder roaring to it's highest.

In an instant, It lashed out striking at Skysher and the Frost Kong. Skysher's eyes glowed purple once more as the Frost Kongs went blank. The electrocution was sucking power from the Frost Kong while it granted one to Skysher.

Finally, after a few seconds, the sky returned to its blue and white glory. The Frost Kong overwhelmed by the strike and energy, collapsed to the ground. Its body shaking and crackling from the shock! It was knocked out.

Meanwhile, Skysher landed on the ground, standing firm and tall. He had Won!
