Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 71 - Ugly
Chapter 71: Chapter 71 Ugly
Chapter 71 -71 Ugly
Gong Yan had quietly helped Lin Zhiyi so much; she felt embarrassed to make him feel uncomfortable because of a mere photo.
However, things that needed to be clarified still had to be clarified.
The eldest brother was simply the eldest brother, nothing more.
After a while, Gong Yan sent a smile.
“Get some rest early.”
“Okay.”
After exiting WeChat, Lin Zhiyi casually browsed through her missed calls.
Seeing Gong Chen’s number, she hesitated for a moment but eventually set the phone down and went to take a shower before bedtime.
Early the next morning, Lin Zhiyi got up and headed to the kitchen.
Along the way, she was thinking about what excuse she could use to borrow the kitchen for a bit.
After all, she had been mocked before just for getting something to eat.
To her surprise, upon entering, she found the kitchen bustling with unfamiliar faces.
When they saw her, they immediately set aside their work and greeted her with proper respect.
“Miss Lin, are you hungry? We can speed up a bit, and it’ll be ready very soon.”
The speaker was a woman in her fifties, with a rather kind smile.
Lin Zhiyi had never been treated with such reverence by the servants in the Gong Family before, and she was a bit unaccustomed to it, quickly waving them off.
“No, no, I just wanted to personally prepare breakfast for Madam and the eldest brother.”
She had thought all night about how to thank Gong Yan, so she decided to get up early to make a different breakfast for the mother and son.
The woman rubbed her hands on her apron, cautiously suggesting, “How about we prepare it for you to deliver? We couldn’t possibly let you do it yourself.”
Hearing this, Lin Zhiyi was pleasantly surprised and smiled as she took a clean apron from the rack and put it on.
“It’s okay; I’ll do it myself.”
“Then let me assist you.”
The woman quickly came forward to help.
Lin Zhiyi, with some doubt, whispered, “Are you new?”
The woman nodded repeatedly, her hands never stopping, “Yes.”
“No wonder.” It must be a misunderstanding of her identity, she thought with a smile, “You don’t have to treat me like that, I don’t live here usually, I am…”
“I know, you are the Second Young Miss of the Gong family. Assistant Chen briefed us when we arrived.”
“What? The Second Young Miss of the Gong family? Assistant Chen?”

Chen Jin!
What was he talking about?
The woman efficiently took out ingredients, “Assistant Chen said we must be polite to the family’s young miss, remembering what should and shouldn’t be said. Aren’t you the only young miss in the Gong family?”
This… could be considered true, but the Gong family didn’t acknowledge her.
Why would Chen Jin say that?
A somewhat unlikely idea formed in Lin Zhiyi’s mind.
She turned and stared at the woman, “Who hired you all?”
“Third Young Master.”
“Him? Since when does he deal with these trivial matters?” Lin Zhiyi asked, puzzled, frowning slightly.
“The former servants were gossiping about you behind your back; they were fired by Third Young Master right away.”
The woman was adding water to the dough basin that Lin Zhiyi was preparing.
Upon hearing her words, Lin Zhiyi’s hand slipped, and the entire basin of flour spilled onto the floor.
She quickly apologized, “I’m sorry, that was so careless of me.”
The woman held her back, smiling, “No problem, I’ll clean it up, you go get more ingredients from the fridge you want.”
“Thank you.”
Lin Zhiyi turned around, suppressing her emotions.
She felt certain the woman must have misheard; how could Gong Chen possibly help her?
She didn’t dwell on clarifying it but simply opened the fridge and, to her surprise, saw quite a few sweet rice wine balls.
“Who bought so many sweet rice wine balls?”
“Is it… the eldest young master?”
The woman glanced sideways and saw Gong Yan standing at the kitchen door.
Lin Zhiyi was startled, indeed only Gong Yan remembered she liked to eat sweet rice wine balls.
“Eldest brother, what brings you here?”
She wiped her hands and came forward to greet him.
“I saw you were injured, so I thought I’d take you to the studio this morning. There’s no need to squeeze onto the subway.” Gong Yan saw her wearing the apron and hesitated, “What are you doing?”
Lin Zhiyi, embarrassed, raised her hand still dusted with some flour, “I wanted to make some pancakes for you and Madam to try, but you caught me.”
“Should I leave?” joked Gong Yan.
Lin Zhiyi laughed along, “Brother, have a seat. I’ll be done in no time.”
Gong Yan hummed in acknowledgment.
Lin Zhiyi swiftly prepared breakfast, noticing Gong Yan occasionally glancing at his watch and promptly packed all the breakfast into a newly purchased lunchbox.
She turned around and instructed the servants, “Madam’s portion is softer and easier to digest, make sure she eats it while it’s still warm.”
“Alright.”
Then she handed Gong Yan a youthfully styled blue checkered lunch bag.
“Brother, don’t mind it, the lunchboxes are brand new, I was planning to make my own meals when I go to the studio in the future.”
“I don’t mind, you shouldn’t work so hard in the future,” Gong Yan took the bag, “Let’s go, I’ll take you to the studio.”
“Alright.”
Because of a small episode, Lin Zhiyi indeed couldn’t catch the subway.
So she dutifully got into Gong Yan’s car.
The two chatted and laughed in the car, not noticing a black figure entering the garage.
“Third Young Master, isn’t that Miss Lin? She and the eldest young master seem to be…”
Gong Chen coolly withdrew his gaze, giving Chen Jin a cold glance.
Chen Jin dared not finish, immediately opened the car door for Gong Chen to get into the vehicle.
He then handed Gong Chen the documents to be dealt with that day.
“The one from Cha Hua Manor still hasn’t agreed to cooperate, saying she wants to meet with you in person.”
“Let her suggest a time. Find out her preferences, prepare backup gifts,” Gong Chen browsed the documents without even lifting his head.
“Yes,” Chen Jin continued, “There is a project in Hai City that requires negotiation, who should be sent?”
Gong Chen stopped turning the pages for a moment, “I have the right person.”
When they got to the company, the employees respectfully made way upon seeing Gong Chen.
Gong Chen didn’t go to the top-floor office but straight to another department.
When he walked into the office, Gong Yan was watering his green plants.
“Uncle, what brings you here? Please, have a seat.” He put down the watering can, smiling warmly.
“You don’t seem to be at all surprised to see me.”
Gong Chen slowly sat down, his dark eyes unfathomable, concealing his true intentions.
Gong Yan asked his secretary to make tea, and he himself took a food container out of a blue and white checkered bag.
“Uncle, I haven’t had breakfast yet; you don’t mind, do you?” he shook the food container.
The pink food container was conspicuous against the black coffee table.
Familiar.
Liu He had bought it for Lin Zhiyi, who had then turned it down for days.
Gong Chen barely glanced at it, casually lighting a cigarette and resting his hand holding the cigarette on the armrest, looking at Gong Yan through a layer of smoke, a coldness flickering in his eyes.
“Go ahead and eat.”
Gong Yan opened the food container, and the aroma immediately filled the office.
Holding up the container, he said, “Didn’t expect Zhiyi to even manage a presentation, this little bear is quite cute. Right, uncle?”
Lin Zhiyi was worried a few pieces of egg pancakes would be too simple, so she specially made caviar rice balls and even crafted them with nori seaweed.
Gong Chen glanced at the food container, flicked the cigarette ashes, “Ugly.”
“I think it’s quite nice.”
Gong Yan picked up the chopsticks, ready to eat, just as the secretary came in with tea for Gong Chen.
“Ah!”
