Reborn as Mr.CEO's Fat Wife-Chapter 577: Can I Come to See Teddy Again Tomorrow?
Chapter 577: Chapter 577: Can I Come to See Teddy Again Tomorrow?
Abigail originally planned to leave after dropping things off and checking on the baby.
But Teddy absolutely wouldn’t let her go.
The little guy was so happy, clinging to her like a piece of sticky candy, calling her "mommy" nonstop, as if she really were his mother.
At first, Abigail felt a bit awkward, afraid that Teddy’s "mommy" would be upset. But as she interacted with him, she found that not only was the other person unbothered by her presence, it seemed like she had solved a big problem for them. This made her feel much more at ease.
Abigail spent the whole afternoon playing with the little guy.
She fed him milk, told stories, and played hide-and-seek, tirelessly.
Several times she tried to leave, but the little guy just held her hand, not letting go. In the end, she had no choice but to wait until he fell asleep while feeding him in the evening before getting up.
Seeing the little one sleeping soundly with the bottle still in his mouth, Abigail felt a bit reluctant to leave. She looked at Juliet awkwardly and said, "Can I... come see him again tomorrow?"
"Sure, this is the first time I’ve seen Teddy like someone so much besides his dad and grandma," Juliet said with a smile. Now with Second Young Master away and Aunt Claudia sick, she and the new maid had no experience with children. Without Kiyoko today, she wouldn’t have known what to do.
Receiving permission, Abigail relaxed a lot and smiled as she said goodbye.
Just after she left, Aunt Claudia, who had been in a deep sleep, struggled to get up and came downstairs from the third floor. "Juliet, how come I slept so long? Where’s Teddy? Did he cry or fuss?"
"Aunt Claudia, please rest. Teddy is fine. He played all afternoon and is now asleep from exhaustion," Juliet quickly stopped the frail and ill elderly woman.
Aunt Claudia, worried about passing her illness to Teddy, dared not get too close. Seeing from afar that the child was sleeping so soundly, she finally eased her mind.
Juliet urged, "I had someone make some light food for you. Miss Kiyoko from next door came over today. She has had children before and is very good at taking care of them. I’ll ask her to help again tomorrow. Second Young Master will be back soon, so you can rest easy."
Aunt Claudia murmured softly, "Miss Kiyoko? From R Nation?"
"Yes, she’s beautiful and kind-hearted. You don’t need to worry," Juliet casually explained, completely forgetting to ask why Kiyoko was so fluent in Chinese.
"Alright," Aunt Claudia replied, feeling a bit resentful about her own health but helplessly going back to rest.
Next door, Abigail returned to find her senior brother not yet back, but Nako had already made dinner.
Abigail, unusually happy, spoke a lot to Nako in her broken R language.
Having lived under the same roof for some time, Nako noticed that Abigail usually avoided eating with them. It was only after returning from the island that she became more cheerful, although she still didn’t talk much. This was the first time she had said so much at once, making Nako happy for her, "You should get out more, you look so much better."
Abigail realized she had been rambling on about Teddy for over ten minutes, feeling a bit embarrassed and coughed lightly.
Nako, a gentle and meticulous woman from R Nation, with traditional feminine kindness and tolerance, patted Abigail’s hand kindly, "If you like it, go out more. I can make some baby food snacks and teach you how to make them. You can take them over tomorrow."
All of Abigail’s previous embarrassment vanished, and she nodded happily, her beautiful eyes shining with light.
Nako couldn’t help but sigh when she saw this, no wonder Foster was willing to do anything for her.
That evening, when Jeffrey Foster returned, he saw Abigail learning to make small cookies with Nako, her steps light and spirited. He curiously approached, "Why are you so enthusiastic today?"
"The neighbor’s baby, Teddy’s grandma, is sick, and his dad is off the island. His mom can’t take care of him all alone. I’m going to help her tomorrow and bring some snacks for the little guy," Abigail said, her eyebrows raised with joy.
Jeffrey had been out with Abigail for over three months; it was the first time he heard her sound so cheerful and happy. He wanted to say something but swallowed it back, not wanting to take away her happiness. He nodded, "Make some for me too."
"A grown man fighting a kid for cookies, how shameful," Abigail made a face at Jeffrey, then paused herself, seeing Jeffrey’s equally surprised expression. She blushed, "It’s the aftereffect of coaxing a child."
Jeffrey felt a bit jealous, "Seeing you like this, I’m afraid you won’t even have eyes for me once we have a child of our own."
"No, I won’t," Abigail, in a good mood, didn’t catch the deeper meaning in Jeffrey’s words. Besides, having seen Teddy today, she felt something missing inside her was filled. She wasn’t that resistant to the idea of children anymore.
Jeffrey hadn’t expected Abigail to respond this way. Did this mean she was now open to having a child with him in the future?
This realization made him extremely happy. He didn’t mind her helping out with the neighbor’s child. On the contrary, he even felt grateful.
Since Abigail went to the neighbor’s today and was so happy, it meant there was no problem with that family. So he didn’t ask further, "Seeing you so happy, I want to meet this baby who makes you so happy. I’ll take you there tomorrow."
"Alright," Abigail nodded.
...
On a certain island.
Brandon Piers had been there for two days but still hadn’t seen Abigail or Jeffrey Foster.
"Second Young Master, could it be the other party deliberately released false information?" Alex asked uncertainly.
"No, let’s keep looking," Brandon’s intuition told him that Abigail had been here. He just might be looking in the wrong direction.
After arriving, he discovered that the island wasn’t large but was very scattered. It wasn’t something he could search thoroughly in a day or two. He had already asked around; indeed, several Asian men and women had been here, and one man matched Jeffrey Foster’s description.
Yet, strangely enough, none of the local fishermen he asked had seen Abigail.
Alex, hearing this, didn’t argue further and continued to send people to investigate.
They had to be extraordinarily careful to avoid alerting the other party and causing them to flee prematurely. This cautious approach restricted their ability to search extensively.
As the situation stalled, one subordinate, who had been mingling with the locals, suddenly reported, "Second Young Master, someone has seen Dean Foster."
Brandon’s eyes lit up, "Where?"
"Two months ago, he rented a yacht and went to a distant private island. Whether he returned, the informant didn’t notice," the subordinate quickly answered.
"And Abigail?" Brandon wanted to know more about Abigail than Jeffrey Foster.
But the subordinate shook his head, "The informant said Jeffrey Foster had a beautiful woman with him, but she was veiled, so they couldn’t be sure if it was the young lady."
"Alex, go verify this. If true, leave three men here and you come with me to the private island," Brandon ordered without hesitation.
Although he looked decisive, his hands trembled slightly, betraying his excitement.
But he was also afraid, afraid it would be another false hope.
