Chapter 569: Chapter 569: Abigail Loves Him!

Pullan couldn’t help but sniffle, a six-foot-tall man with red-rimmed eyes huddled in the front seat, silently distressed.

When he first learned that the young lady had an accident, he wanted to cry. But later, when the second young master said she was alive, he believed the lady must still be alive. However, seeing the second young master in his current state, he couldn’t hold it in anymore and hated himself for not being there at the time.

Kelvin Max intended to let the second young master rest initially, but after hearing all this, he was somewhat relieved that the second young master could finally speak. Otherwise, repressing those feelings until the end would have harmed his body.

He was also grateful that the second young master decided to bring Teddy this time.

Initially, he worried that Teddy was too young to follow the second young master on his search, affecting his efficiency. But now it seemed like it might not be the case.

Perhaps having Teddy around could alleviate the second young master’s mental state.

He was genuinely afraid that the second young master wouldn’t find her and would ruin himself instead.

"Feel free to go find the young lady. My elder brother and I will keep an eye on the third branch in the country, preventing them from getting back on their feet," Kelvin replied respectfully, not daring to persuade further.

Brandon Piers said nothing more and closed his eyes, exhausted.

He had only fallen asleep after 4 A.M. last night, slept for less than three hours, and was weary all over but still found it hard to sleep.

By the time they returned to the estate, Old Mr. Smith had already arranged for Abigail’s belongings to be sent over.

Looking at the three large boxes, the cold, hard lines of Brandon’s face instantly softened. "Send them to my study."

"Yes." Pullan and Peter quickly carried them up.

Brandon was about to follow when his grandfather called out, "Eat."

"I..."

"Eat first," Grayson Piers interrupted him.

Watching his grandson, whose face was now so gaunt it seemed almost misshapen since returning, Old Mr. Smith knew how hard it was for Brandon to bear the pain of not finding Abigail. But no matter how hard it was, a person couldn’t collapse.

If he collapsed, everything would be lost.

Seeing this, Brandon didn’t insist and nodded, heading to the kitchen.

Observing this, Old Mr. Smith instructed Housekeeper Piers to bring Teddy down as well.

Lunch was abundant, mostly stomach-nourishing medicinal dishes, specially arranged by Old Mr. Smith for his grandson.

Once they had just taken their seats, Aunt Claudia came downstairs holding Teddy, followed by Adam Piers, yawning in his slippers.

Recently, Old Mr. Smith found Adam increasingly hard to look at. His grandson, Brandon, was wasting away, while this one grew plumper staying in the estate—it was an eyesore.

The moment Adam took his seat, he felt his grandfather’s disdainful gaze and quickly slouched aside, trying to minimize his presence.

Seeing this, Old Mr. Smith’s disdain doubled. Yet, he turned his head and gently addressed Brandon, "Brandon, you should eat more."

The scorned Adam said nothing.

True grandsons and proxy grandsons were worlds apart. No wonder his third uncle and father felt resentful at heart. If it weren’t for his father’s constant beatings, he would have already built resistance to this blatant favoritism. As for his grandfather’s way, it would’ve certainly warped his heart.

Brandon nodded, but his eyes fell on Teddy. "What can he eat now?"

"You should ask what he can’t eat!" Before Aunt Claudia could speak, Adam interjected.

Brandon looked at Adam, "Hmm?"

"He eats everything. Just now, he was chewing on his own little toes with relish. Don’t believe me? I can have him show you." Adam said as he prepared to take off Teddy’s socks, but suddenly felt a chill around him. Looking up, he met Brandon’s gaze and sheepishly stopped. "It’s really funny!"

Unfortunately, no one paid him any attention.

Adam felt terribly awkward. At this moment, the head chef brought out a steamed fish dish. Adam hurriedly praised, "Wow, your knife skills are truly remarkable. Excellent!"

The head chef, unsure of the situation, humbly replied, "Not really, my knife skills can’t compare to the young lady’s."

He immediately realized his mistake, embarrassedly put down the dish, and prepared to leave.

Yet Brandon abruptly called him back, "Your knife skills can’t compare to the young lady’s? When did Abigail ever cook?"

The head chef awkwardly turned around, biting his tongue, puzzled why he had said so much. Still, he forced a professional smile toward Brandon, "It’s like this, the young lady once said she wanted to cook for you. I saw her knife skills, they were absolutely superb, no less than a professional chef’s."

Abigail cooked for him?

Brandon was shocked, but why didn’t he know? freewёbnoνel.com

"When was this?" Brandon suppressed his excited heart, feeling deeply regretful. Why didn’t he know at all?

The head chef then recalled that the young lady cooked for the second young master when he wasn’t there, scratching his head in embarrassment. "That day... It seems you happened to be away."

Brandon tried hard to remember when Abigail cooked for him while he was away...

And then, a memory surfaced. That time when he was angry at Abigail over Jeffrey Foster; he intended to find her in the courtyard but saw her playing, laughing heartily with Teddy. He felt she didn’t care about him, didn’t take their relationship seriously, and rancorously went to drink with Michael Piers instead.

That led to the incident with Elaine Tours.

If he recalled correctly, Housekeeper Piers had told him that night Abigail rested in his room.

So, that night Abigail not only mustered the courage to offer herself to him but also specially cooked for him. Yet, he did not return all night.

Back then, he arrogantly thought Abigail didn’t reflect on herself, didn’t confess to him. He self-righteously assumed he handled the rumors well enough that she wouldn’t know a thing, arrogantly had Kelvin explain his overnight absence.

It was ridiculous.

He didn’t lose Abigail due to Jeffrey’s scheming but lost her due to his own arrogance.

The more he got to know Old Mr. Smith, the more he understood that Abigail was innately proud and had a strong sense of self-worth. Not just because of her talent, but also because of the environment she grew up in. Yet, such a person, to win his forgiveness, made him soup, sneaked into his bed to avoid his anger.

He dared not imagine how much courage she had gathered and what she had given up for him.

After that, when she actively tried to reconcile, he spoke harshly and almost assaulted her. Still, she chose to give him another chance.

Why did she give him chance after chance? It certainly wasn’t out of boredom.

She loved him!

It was Brandon Piers’ first time clearly, unequivocally confirming to himself.

From being infatuated to liking, to deeply falling for her, he always minded her past love for someone else, felt she couldn’t let go of another. Believed she had spent such a long time loving someone, it was impossible to let go merely because of him.

In this relationship, he was neither confident nor trusting of her.

That was why he messed everything up, it was all his fault.

And yet, on this wintry afternoon with no sign of her, he suddenly realized with overwhelming certainty that Abigail loved him, more than he had ever thought!
