Rebirth: Revenge of the abandoned heirress-Chapter 72: It makes it better
Chapter 72 - It makes it better
The stage was very far from where Jazmine Harrison was standing, so she couldn't get a clear view. Besides, the angle only allowed her to see his side profile.
"Why is he here only now?"
"The previous display was just a warm-up. The real show will start now. The best-selling fashion designers will present their items, so it's only right that he appears now." Amelia looked nervous. "I'll leave now. Third turn's mine."
Now that the matter with Amelia was resolved, Jazmine didn't feel like attending the fashion show. She looked in the direction where President Crowne was standing. There was no way she could approach him with such a huge crowd surrounding him. Besides, she had already made all the other acquaintances she had listed before arriving here.
She glanced at the spot where her seat would be. Beside her seat, David Anderson's seat was reserved.
Jazmine naturally didn't like crowded places. She walked away and headed for the terrace.
Once she stepped out of the elevator, the roaring wind welcomed her. Jazmine walked to the edge of the terrace and folded her arms over it. She looked at the bustling city below. Huge skyscrapers lifted into the sky. A smile spread on her lips as she enjoyed the peace and quiet. In the company of silence, she didn't know how much time had passed.
Behind her, Jazmine heard footsteps. They stopped at a certain distance from her.
Jazmine's smile didn't disappear. Instead, it deepened. She didn't turn to see who it was as she said, "How did you find me here?"
The man walked to her side and leaned over the railing. He glanced at the spot where Jazmine's eyes were fixed.
"You must be sad. All your effort of waking up so early in the morning went to waste," Sebastian Crowne said. Jazmine had purposely left early in the morning to avoid being caught by him.
"No... If you could find a way to get a room adjacent to mine, I knew you would easily find a way to know where I am." She knew she couldn't avoid him. And for some strange reason, that didn't bother her as it did before.
"If I want to steal you, I must know where you are all the time."
"You seem to take your job very seriously." Jazmine laughed. She enjoyed his company.
"There hasn't been any other job I've taken this seriously." Sebastian glanced at Jazmine's side profile. Her pale skin was soft and delicate, filling his heart with an indescribable urge to caress her soft cheeks and squash them. Her cinnabar-red lips were tilted up lightly. She seemed to glow in the golden light, surrounded by a warmth that made her beauty feel almost ethereal.
Sebastian felt like he could lose himself in such a pleasant sight for eternity if he didn't look away.
Jazmine smiled but didn't say anything. They both fell into a comfortable silence as they looked into the distance.
"You like solitude," Sebastian said thoughtfully.
After a brief pause, Jazmine replied, "When I was young, my mother and I... let's just say we were surrounded by a lot of bad people. Especially when there were crowds. We were given a lot of funny looks. Even inside the family, we weren't treated any better. The only moments of peace I can recall are those spent in solitude with my mother... away from home. I don't know if I should even call that hellish place home." Jazmine scoffed.
"She used to take me to such isolated places. We didn't talk much, but we liked it... both of us. Away from the maliciousness of all the people. Where it was only the two of us, and we could drop our fears. This feeling is associated with my mother. So whenever I'm alone, I feel like she's just beside me."
After some silence, Sebastian asked softly, "Do I not interrupt your solitude?"
What Jazmine said next made his heart skip a beat. She glanced at him, tilted her head, and smiled. The wind blew, loosening strands of her hair from behind her ear, letting them caress her rosy cheeks.
"No... Instead, you make it even better.
