Rebirth: Revenge of the abandoned heirress-Chapter 67: Slighted
Chapter 67 - Slighted
Jazmine Harrison went straight to her room and closed the door. Memories rushed to her mind.
"No. No. No..." She placed her hands over her ears and shook her head vehemently. Ever since she had lost her everything in her last life, she had sworn to never let herself fall for those sorts of feelings. But what she had felt with Sebastian Crowne... even if they didn't do anything, was stronger than her experience with David Anderson.
She pushed back those memories that wanted to emerge into the depths of her mind. Whatever her relation was with that crafty man, whatever was hidden in her heart, she wanted it to stay hidden.

That crazy man was bad news for her.
Not long after, there was a gentle knock at the door. Jazmine's face twitched. She knew who it was. She didn't want to answer. After a long silence, she expected the person would have already left and sighed in relief. But to her dismay, there came another knock. After five such knocks, she couldn't tolerate the slow torture and opened the door.
"Is there anything?" she managed to say in a calm tone. She pretended nothing happened. She didn't want to give him any satisfaction that he had any sort of effect on her.
"Are you alright?" Sebastian Crowne inquired quietly. No more words. His soft eyes conveyed all the unsaid feelings of genuine concern — the feelings that couldn't be faked in words.
"What would happen to me?" she said with a frown, continuing to pretend. But her heart rate picked up.
There was a flash in Sebastian's eyes, and he walked in without being invited. Jazmine was amazed at his boldness. She turned and looked at his back. He seemed to be inspecting the place. "This is not your home."
But Sebastian seemed to be thinking a completely different thing. "So blatant." He looked around and frowned. The room wasn't the VIP one. How dare those petty managers slight his Jazmine when his secretary had obviously given them a call? It seemed he needed to teach them a lesson. They were surely being blatant. Had they expected that he would not know?
Question marks appeared above Jazmine's head. She shook them off. After all, she was addressed to a crazy man. Someone whose words would be random and incoherent.
"If you won't mind, Mr. Crowne, this is my apartment. Would you please not come in if you are not invited in?"
"I mind."
Jazmine: "..."
"I didn't invite you." He threw a glance at her before making a quick call.
Jazmine opened her mouth then closed it. She almost gnashed her teeth. He had obviously kept his door open for her to walk in. But she had a feeling he wouldn't admit it.
"State your purpose," she said grumpily.
He raised his phone. "Dinner."
Would it kill him to say a few more words?
"Do you want to have dinner with me?" she asked with suspicion.
Silence.
Somehow she knew silence was his way of saying yes.
"And do you think I would agree to eat with you?"
Silence.
"In that case, you are mistaken."
He tilted his head and pointed at her bandaged leg. "You need nutrition. I wouldn't be able to steal you if you keep ending in hospital."
Jazmine didn't know how to reply. He was impossible. She hated it when others took the upper hand. She liked to be the one in control — the absolute control.
She was thinking about what to say next to drive him out when they heard an urgent knock at the door.
Sebastian straightened and strode toward the door, expecting the food delivery.
"Stop." Jazmine pulled him back and pushed him into a room. She looked aghast. "Stay here. Don't get out."
Before he could say anything, the door was shut on his face. She had called him Mr. Crowne. It seemed she was getting more and more suspicious.
"Amelia." Jazmine greeted her with a smile. After the attempted abduction, she asked her bodyguard not to let anyone other than her friends in. Not even room service was allowed. And with the impatient knocking, she could easily tell that it was Amelia. The last thing she wanted was to have her friend see a hot man in her room... late at night.
"Well... Um... We didn't get to talk after I..." Amelia tried to hide her guilty face.
To her good luck, Emily Carrol didn't inform Amelia about Jazmine's disappearance yesterday. If she had, Jazmine would have been strangled by a hug right now.
"After you sold me off to my grandfather...?" Jazmine teased her.
"It's not my fault. Look, I had a flight. I didn't have a choice."
"That's not the way to apologize. If that's what you are here for."
"Who said I'm here to apologize?" Amelia looked around to change the topic. "You know what? Caroline Anderson is here. Be careful. After your epic battle on the internet, she is filled with deep resentment toward you." Amelia explored the place. She didn't look satisfied. The hotel was obviously ignoring her by giving her such a room. "Are you sure you are alright with this room? Would you want me to give a call to my manager?" Amelia suspected it was the Anderson family behind it.
Jazmine was thinking about asking Emily about the matter with Caroline. After all, she had been too busy preparing for the meeting with that Devil that she stopped following the Caroline Anderson matter. She didn't know what had happened after the video was released. "It's alright." Her eyes hid resentment. "They would regret it before I even return to New York." Because before that, she would have had that meeting with President Anderson. And with the alliance of such an important person, she would be impeachable.
Amelia threw a smile at Jazmine. "I like this Jazmine."
They chattered for some time. Jazmine felt at ease when finally Amelia decided to leave, but just then, a loud ring bell that came from Jazmine's bedroom shattered the peace of the room.
