Chapter 53: Chapter 53 Studio Affair

Wan Chu’er headed straight to the top floor of the teaching building after arriving at school.

When she arrived, it was 6:15, fifteen minutes before the agreed time. The rooftop was deserted. She took out an empty envelope she had received earlier and a note, then secured them with a stone in a conspicuous place before quickly descending the rooftop.

Then she went to the administrative building’s school broadcasting room, which usually broadcasts educational content each morning and at noon. After school in the afternoon, the broadcasting room is locked up and no one is there.

Wan Chu’er reached the door of the broadcasting room and glanced at the lock hanging there. She took out a hairpin brought from Bai Zhixi’s home and gently prodded the iron lock with it.

"Click," the lock opened.

This technique was something she learned from a gangster in her past life.

There was nobody in the broadcasting room, and faint light slipped in through the windows, allowing her to roughly make out the objects inside.

Wan Chu’er fiddled around for a while before she figured out how the machines worked. Footsteps then echoed from the corridor outside.

The footsteps had a hint of sneaky intentions, indicating that one of today’s main characters had arrived.

Wan Chu’er looked at her watch; it was 6:25, five minutes before the scheduled 6:30. It seemed like someone in a hurry had arrived.

In Zhuo Yao’s plan, Wan Chu’er was also one of the main characters.

But today, Wan Chu’er was about to turn Zhuo Yao from a mere observer to a scheming lead.

Wan Chu’er pulled the curtains shut completely, plunging the broadcasting room into pitch darkness.

"Knock, knock, knock," the door was gently knocked.

Then the door opened from the inside silently, and the male student at the door hesitated for a moment as the inside looked eerily dark.

He tried to call out softly, "Zhuo Yao? Zhuo Yao, is that you?"

In the darkness, the corners of Wan Chu’er’s mouth curled up, but she remained silent. This person must be Peng Yue, the one who wrote the love letter.

Meanwhile, Zhuo Yao stared at her watch intently. As soon as it struck 6:30, she stood up, ready to head to the rooftop to watch the drama unfold.

When she got up, she accidentally bumped the table, which wobbled slightly.

Her deskmate glanced curiously at Zhuo Yao and immediately sensed something was off, asking casually, "Zhuo Yao, where are you rushing off to?"

"Ah?" Zhuo Yao was stunned for a moment, then chuckled sheepishly and said, "I’m feeling a bit stuffy and want to go to the rooftop for some air. Would you accompany me?" Her plan involved bringing someone along to catch the cheater.

She had it all figured out; if things went as she anticipated, she would find a way to get more people to come to the rooftop and turn the situation into a campus incident.

If things turned out differently, she would simply spread the word on a smaller scale and continue to play the role of the innocent friend betrayed.

And her admiring deskmate would be the perfect witness.

Zhuo Yao was a well-regarded student in her class, and accompanying her to the rooftop for some fresh air unquestionably seemed like a good thing. Without a second thought, her deskmate happily agreed.

Suppressing the excitement inside, Zhuo Yao pulled her deskmate towards the rooftop.

Little did she know, the two people she had planned for had already visited the rooftop early and changed locations, leaving Zhuo Yao puzzled by the empty rooftop.

Could it be that both Wan Chu’er and Peng Yue didn’t show up?

Impossible, given her understanding of Peng Yue, he would definitely come after receiving her letter.

Peng Yue was almost always obedient to her.

What about Wan Chu’er then? She started to feel unsure.

The female deskmate looked at Zhuo Yao who suddenly stopped walking with a puzzled look, and asked with concern, "What’s wrong, Zhuo Yao? Are you feeling unwell?"

Zhuo Yao snapped out of her daze, ignoring her deskmate’s concern, and started running around the rooftop. She checked every corner but found no one!

Where did they go!?

Standing at the door of the broadcasting room, Peng Yue finally entered. After he entered, the door closed behind him.

Peng Yue thought about the note he’d received unexpectedly that afternoon, suppressing the excitement in his heart.

This was the first time Zhuo Yao had responded to him after so long, asking him to meet her at the rooftop of the teaching building at 6:30. He couldn’t help but arrive ten minutes early; how could he let the goddess in his heart wait for him!

Upon reaching the rooftop, Peng Yue immediately saw the noticeable envelope.

Curiously, he walked over and saw the note on it that read: come to the broadcast room, four words.

Because of the presence of the envelope, Peng Yue thought Zhuo Yao had changed the location to be safe. Since Zhuo Yao was the school’s broadcaster, he immediately ran towards the broadcasting room, fearing that Zhuo Yao was anxious.

"Zhuo Yao, I’m here, where are you?" Peng Yue gently called out Zhuo Yao’s name.

Zhuo Yao stiffened on the teaching building’s rooftop, somewhat disbelieving the voice she heard, and looked towards her dazed classmate.

The sudden voice made everyone in the campus pause.

Zhuo Yao’s name was known by almost every sophomore, and even some freshmen and seniors were aware because she was both intelligent and beautiful.

The omnipresent loudspeakers in the campus transmitted the voice again:

"Zhuo Yao, why did you ask me to come here? Do you also like me? I liked you the first time I saw you, you’re smart, and beautiful. In my eyes, you are the most beautiful, no girl in our school can compare to you."

Peng Yue spoke more joyously and proudly as he went on, ecstatic about meeting the blossom of Wutong Middle School in the dark broadcasting room, his blood boiling and his courage growing.

Boom—

The entire campus boiled over now; they weren’t hallucinating just now, someone was really speaking. freewёbnoνel.com

And it was the kind of scandal that everyone loved to hear; all the students’ eyes lit up, stirring like they were on fire, truly a bitter high school life!

Zhuo Yao felt dizzy and her brain went blank. After catching her breath twice, she immediately realized and ran towards the broadcast room.

"Zhuo Yao," her classmate called out to her, but unfortunately, Zhuo Yao couldn’t hear.

It must be Wan Chu’er! She was definitely framing her!

This was the only thought in Zhuo Yao’s mind.

Inside the broadcasting room, Peng Yue continued excitedly: "Zhuo Yao, I love you, come out, I will definitely treat you well in the future, please come out, Zhuo Yao I see you, Zhuo Yao, let me kiss you, I will..."

The boundless darkness fueled his wild imagination, excitedly reaching out and groping everywhere, spouting nonsense.

"Snap!" Suddenly, the lights turned on.

Peng Yue reflexively raised his hand to shield his eyes, and when he got used to the sudden brightness, he lowered his hand.

"Who are you? How did you end up here? Where is Zhuo Yao? Where have you hidden Zhuo Yao?"

He was taken aback when he saw Wan Chu’er standing in front of him, his eyes widening, blurting out several questions in a row.

"Wow! There’s another person?"

"A love triangle for the ages!"

"This is so thrilling, keep talking, keep talking..."

...

The onlookers on campus danced with excitement; this was even more dramatic than a TV series.

Holding a stack of envelopes emotionlessly in her hand, Wan Chu’er asked, "Did you write these?"
