Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time-Chapter 102: Unyielding
Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Unyielding
The Ge Family’s door was opened by a middle-aged woman in her thirties. Although she had a smile on her face, her triangular eyes thoroughly scanned Wan Chu’er from top to bottom.
As they did, the expression in Wan Chu’er’s eyes turned cold. She looked down to say goodbye to Ge Erdan, then turned around and left the Ge Family’s doorstep.
"Erdan, is that the teacher your grandpa found for you? So impolite, not even greeting me, and who knows what you can learn from her—just a waste of money."
Ge Erdan called out unhappily, "Aunt, don’t say that about Sister Chu’er."
Wan Chu’er, who had just descended half a flight of stairs, heard the remarks from above. Without thinking, she immediately turned back and went up again.
Ge Erdan’s aunt was just about to enter the house when she heard footsteps and turned around, looking at Wan Chu’er with a critical eye, "What more do you want?"
Wan Chu’er let out a cold laugh, raised her chin, and glanced at her sideways, her disdain clearly visible in her eyes.
"What are you looking at!" Ge Erdan’s aunt was not pleased.
Wan Chu’er said scornfully, "Nothing more than this."
Having said that, she turned to leave as if she had returned just to scorn the woman.
"Hey, what did you say?! How can a young girl’s mouth be so filthy? Haven’t your elders taught you manners?" Aunt Ge shoved her nephew out of the way and started cursing at Wan Chu’er.
The phrase "Haven’t your elders taught you manners?" made Wan Chu’er stop in her tracks, her fists clenching tightly. She turned around and looked coldly at Aunt Ge, who felt somewhat intimidated by the icy gaze.
Wan Chu’er glanced at the frightened Ge Erdan and said calmly, "Erdan, go back to your room."
Ge Erdan obediently entered the room, quickly looking for his grandfather.
Seeing that Ge Erdan had disappeared, Wan Chu’er unleashed a kick, landing it squarely on the Ge Family’s door, which slammed shut with a loud clang.
"Ah! Murder!" Aunt Ge screamed.
Wan Chu’er, on the other hand, took something out of her pocket, rolled it between her hands, and stuffed it into Aunt Ge’s wide-open mouth—it was the envelope that Ge Erdan had given to Wan Chu’er, containing nine hundred.
Aunt Ge, petrified, made no further sound.
"I don’t need your foul mouth to comment on whether I’ve been raised properly. If you bark at me like this again, be careful, I don’t spare the dog owner when I beat the dog."
Just as she finished speaking, the Ge Family’s door opened from inside. Old Man Ge led Ge Erdan out, accompanied by a middle-aged man with an anxious expression.
Old Man Ge hurried over to Wan Chu’er and said:
"Miss, I apologize for my useless daughter offending you. Please, don’t stoop to her level; it’s not worth it."
Aunt Ge, seeing her father and brother emerge, immediately regained her courage. She took out the envelope from her mouth, threw it to the ground, and screamed:
"Dad, this woman is a hooligan. She just tried to hit me. Call the police, have her arrested!"
"You’re the hooligan. Get lost!" Ge Erdan suddenly became furious, standing protectively in front of Wan Chu’er, glaring at his aunt, and shouted.
Old Man Ge also sternly told his daughter, "Go back inside the house, don’t embarrass yourself here any further."
Seeing his daughter about to shout something, Old Man Ge turned to the middle-aged man and said, "Dazhuang, take your sister back home."
The middle-aged man obediently dragged Aunt Ge back into the house. After entering, he poked his head out again and said to Wan Chu’er:
"Teacher Wan, I am Erdan’s father. Thank you for being willing to teach Erdan. I’m really sorry about today, I will surely come and apologize another day."
Chuchu Wan kept a cold expression, watching the behavior of the Ge Family.
Only when the doorway was finally quiet did she calmly say to Old Man Ge, "Grandpa Ge, I’ve said before that I prefer quiet to noise."
A pang of anxiety hit Old Man Ge’s heart, and then he heard Wan Chuer say:
"I just started my first year of college, and in the future, my studies will be very demanding, and I’m afraid I won’t have time to teach Erdan anymore. Erdan is very smart. He has pretty much learned everything I’ve taught him these last few days. He should just practice on his own from now on."
Then she pointed to the envelope that Aunt Ge had just thrown on the ground and succinctly said, "Tuition." Then she turned and walked away.
The implication was clear—she would no longer be teaching Ge Erdan.
Although she had a favorable impression of Ge Erdan and wanted to gradually change him, to make him stronger, the involvement with a nasty dog made her unwilling to submit herself; she was no saint.
"Hey, hey, don’t go—" Old Man Ge hurriedly spoke to keep her, but Wan Chuer didn’t look back at all, and soon she was out of sight.
"Wah—" Ge Erdan suddenly burst into tears, rushing into the house and into his own room, locking himself in from the inside.
The Ge Family was now in complete disarray. Old Man Ge and Brother Ge were very displeased with Aunt Ge. Old Man Ge scolded Aunt Ge for quite some time, and eventually sent his daughter back to her own home.
Although Wan Chuer was disgusted by Aunt Ge, she considered the matter settled and put it behind her—she didn’t have the luxury of time to be angry with people unworthy of it.
She went home, had a simple meal, and then started to tinker with the computer again, learning the basics of C programming.
In the evening, Old Man Ge came to apologize in person, knocking on the door, but no matter what he said outside, Wan Chuer did not respond. Just as he was losing hope and preparing to leave, the door opened.
Wan Chuer handed Old Man Ge an envelope with an indifferent expression, "This is a letter for Erdan. Please pass it on for me. I’ve made up my mind, I hope you won’t come again in the future."
Hope faded instantly from Old Man Ge’s face. Seeing Wan Chuer’s resolute will, and not even considering letting him in, he had no choice but to take the letter and leave.
She had promised to teach Ge Erdan, and now it seemed she was going back on her word. In the letter, Wan Chuer apologized to Ge Erdan, wrote a few words of encouragement and hope, and agreed that Erdan could write to her if he needed to.
The next morning, Wan Chuer practiced with a punching bag at home for quite a while, and after washing up, she took her things and headed to school; she had classes during the third and fourth periods.
After class, Wan Chuer and Mai Qiqi had lunch together and returned to the dormitory.
"Hey, did you know? The welcome party in a month is collecting acts, and I heard there will be scores for all performances, with a grand prize for the winner."
Lin Yufei was excited to share the latest news as soon as she saw them, her eyes even sparkling with humor:
"Why don’t we put on a show from our dorm? The four beauties of us taking the stage, we’re sure to win the grand prize."
No sooner had she finished speaking than Ma Tianjiao said proudly, "Don’t include me; I’ve already signed up for a solo."
Mai Qiqi couldn’t help but laugh, while Wan Chuer simply acted as if she hadn’t heard, opening the book she borrowed from the library and starting to read in her chair.
Lin Yufei rolled her eyes sarcastically, "Ma Tianjiao, what will you sing at the time, ’I Am a Thief’? Aren’t you ashamed?"
That remark was somewhat mean and harsh, touching on Ma Tianjiao’s sore spot, who immediately frowned and shouted at Lin Yufei, "Lin Yufei, are you ever going to stop! Why are you so mean!"
