Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time-Chapter 100: The Envelope Used as a Table Leg Shim
Chapter 100: Chapter 100: The Envelope Used as a Table Leg Shim
Xiao Shan is a computer expert, and Jiang Kechu was able to see those top-secret documents through Xiao Shan, so both knew the affairs of Wan Shiguo without needing to declare it.
Jiang Kechu watched Xiao Shan’s excited look and shook his head slightly, whispering, "Wan Chu’er is very perceptive, don’t let her notice anything."
After Jiang Kechu’s warning, Xiao Shan quickly regained his composure. Seeing that Jiang Xiaoxiao and Wan Chu’er weren’t looking their way, he still couldn’t help but say,
"If Wan Lian realized that his daughter is now a top student at the first university, he’d surely be overjoyed."
Jiang Kechu was silent, not speaking.
Jiang Xiaoxiao bought a computer just for playing online, so there was no need for her to focus on the computer’s performance the way Wan Chu’er did. She chose a laptop.
In the end, it was Jiang Kechu who drove Wan Chu’er and Jiang Xiaoxiao away from the electronic mall. Now that Xiao Shan knew Wan Chu’er was Wan Shiguo’s daughter, naturally, she couldn’t be let to ride in those dirty tricycles.
Jiang Kechu thought Wan Chu’er was moving the computer to the school. But when Wan Chu’er saw they were heading in the wrong direction, she immediately mentioned the residential complex she lived in.
When Jiang Xiaoxiao heard the name of that neighborhood, her eyes widened. She glanced at her brother through the rearview mirror, and seeing that he showed no expression, she calmed down again.
Her brother owned a very large apartment in that neighborhood which their mom had mentioned would be where he and Sister Wei Feng would live after getting married.
Wan Chu’er didn’t notice the odd look from Jiang Xiaoxiao; her mind was fixated on the pile of installation software Xiao Shan had given her.
Soon, the car arrived at the building where Wan Chu’er lived. Jiang Kechu carried the largest monitor upstairs, Wan Chu’er held the computer tower, and Jiang Xiaoxiao carried the keyboard, discs, and other miscellaneous items.
"Just put the stuff in the living room," Wan Chu’er said after opening the door for Jiang Kechu.
Curious, Jiang Xiaoxiao entered and looked around. The decor in the apartment was very simple and neat, with a black and white color scheme, very much like Wan Chu’er herself.
"Wow, you even have a punching bag here," Jiang Xiaoxiao said with a smile upon seeing the big punching bag hanging on the balcony. "Is it your brother or your younger brother who likes boxing?" She wasn’t aware of Wan Chu’er’s family situation.
But Jiang Kechu knew that the Wan Family was left with only Wan Chu’er now. He coughed and said to his sister, "Stop looking around, we should go."
Wan Chu’er calmly said, "I live here alone; the punching bag is for me. Xiaoxiao, do you want some water?"
"Ah?" Jiang Xiaoxiao was a bit surprised and felt somewhat embarrassed by her behavior. She quickly said, "No, that’s fine. You’re busy, Chuchu, my brother and I will leave now."
It seemed somewhat impolite just to let them leave, so Wan Chu’er thought for a moment and then said, "Xiaoxiao, if you have time in the future, you can come over and hang out. I’m usually at home on weekends, and if you come by, I’ll make something delicious."
At the mention of delicious food, Jiang Xiaoxiao’s eyes lit up. Wan Chu’er knew that Jiang Xiaoxiao was a food lover, with her favorite activities being eating and traveling.
"Sure, sure, then I really might come over for some delicious food," laughed Jiang Xiaoxiao.
"Mhm."
As Jiang Kechu and Jiang Xiaoxiao were leaving the apartment, his gaze casually swept over something familiar.
He walked over to the dining table and saw that an envelope was wedged under a table leg. Even though the envelope was folded, he recognized it at a glance as the one he gave Wan Chu’er, with his phone number written on it.
Jiang Kechu’s face darkened.
Following Jiang Kechu’s gaze, Wan Chu’er looked over. Oh no!
One morning while she was having breakfast, she felt the table wobble and looked for something to prop it with. After searching, she found that envelope and it was just the right fit.
Now, Jiang Kechu caught a direct glimpse. He could be quite petty at times, especially disliking when she carelessly dealt with his things.
Chuchu felt somewhat embarrassed for a moment. She was supposed to apologize, but she was unwilling to do so. She rolled her eyes and walked straight over, positioning herself in front of the table, blocking Jiang Kechu’s line of sight, and looked at him with an innocent expression.
Seeing Jiang Kechu’s nostrils flare twice, Chuchu’s heart trembled a bit—this was a sign that he was getting angry. She hurriedly waved her hand,
"Uncle Jiang, Xiaoxiao, take your time leaving. I won’t see you out."
As soon as she said this, Chuchu wanted to slap herself. How could she be so clumsy with her words?
Sure enough, Jiang Xiaoxiao stopped in her tracks, her face the picture of inquisitive curiosity as she looked from Chuchu to her brother.
"Chuchu, why do you call my brother ’Uncle’? Then what should our relationship be called?"
As Jiang Xiaoxiao asked this question, she suppressed a laugh. If it weren’t for her brother being there, she really would have wanted to give Chuchu two thumbs up and praise her for her bravery!
Ignoring Jiang Kechu’s angry glare, Chuchu blinked and seriously said, "Your brother is your brother, and you are you. Your brother is so much older, and my mom has always taught me to be polite and to call my elders ’Uncle.’"
It was indeed Bai Zhixi who had asked her to call him ’Uncle,’ and at that time Jiang Kechu hadn’t objected.
Jiang Xiaoxiao couldn’t hold it in anymore and laughed out loud, "Haha." It was the first time someone had dared to say in front of her brother that he was old.
Jiang Kechu gave Chuchu a cold look and pulled his sister out the door.
After Jiang Kechu slammed the door shut with a bang, Chuchu stood there for a while, then shrugged her shoulders and bent down to work on her computer.
Once the computer was set up, Chuchu still bent over, pulled an envelope out from under the dining table, flicked off the invisible dust, and muttered to herself:
"Fine, if you’re not willing to be put to good use in the right position, my dear, then you shall never see the light of day again." She placed the envelope at the very bottom of the cabinet.
On their way home, Jiang Xiaoxiao struggled to hold back her laughter, eventually giving in and laughing heartily for a while.
Jiang Kechu commented indifferently, "You’ve put on quite a bit of weight recently. I’ll ask Mom to watch your diet."
"Ah?" Jiang Xiaoxiao’s laughter came to an abrupt halt, and her face turned sorrowful, "Bro, you can’t do this."
Jiang Kechu remained unmoved, his face expressionless.
"It’s not me who’s calling you ’Uncle.’"
"Hmph."
"Brother, brother, my dear big brother..." Jiang Xiaoxiao begged for a while, but her pleas did nothing to soften her brother’s steely heart. Then, with a sly twinkle in her eye, she proposed:
"How about I get Chuchu to stop calling you ’Uncle’ from now on?"
Jiang Kechu gave his sister a nonchalant glance, not uttering a word.
Is there a chance? Jiang Xiaoxiao blinked and moved closer to her brother, "Bro, tell me the truth, did you know Chuchu before? Don’t try to fool me with that story about bumping into her at the restaurant last time, you guys didn’t even speak to each other last time."
Although Chuchu had said that before, Jiang Xiaoxiao didn’t believe her, but good manners didn’t allow her to call her out on the spot. Surely there was a reason she didn’t want to acknowledge it. novelbuddy.cσ๓
