Chapter 174: Rory, Let’s Make A Baby!

"You’re definitely not a fool..."

Alex’s facial expression brightened when he saw how adorable she looked at him now. He wanted to lean closer and kiss her alluring lips. However, her question snapped him out of his sultry thoughts just before he could do that.

Aurora lifted her lips teasingly before asking, "Since when did you like me, Alex?"

"Why did you even ask that?" Alex said, playfully pinching her cheek. Noticing the annoyed glare she shot his way, he quickly added, "You know I always like you, Rory..."

"I mean, as a woman, as a lover, something like that," her eyes blinked while she stared at him with a playful smile. "...Oh, Alex, please don’t tell me you’ve been enchanted by my charm right from the start!"

Aurora was curious because she had never experienced him expressing affection towards her in her past life.

"I can’t say when because I’ve never truly fallen in love with another woman. So, I’m not really sure. However, when you suddenly left me, I began to feel so lost. It feels like you took away half of my soul. The strange part is, you keep appearing in my thoughts."

Aurora was stunned.

"I feel my heart warm hearing your words, Alex. But if you think I’m special, why do you never express it?" She asked again, although she later felt regret for bringing it up.

Suddenly, Alex felt a burden on his mind. He wanted to tell her, but the words seemed reluctant to escape his thoughts. He held Aurora’s hand, choosing not to say anything.

Nevertheless, Aurora asked, "What’s the matter? Please tell me, alright?" She sensed that Alex was hiding something from her.

"Rory, you already know the answer, yet you still ask me..." He slowly shook his head, smiling faintly at her curiosity.

"I didn’t know," Aurora says, though she had been hoping to hear the truth from him.

"If I openly express my feelings for you, my parents and Grandpa might become even more convinced that you’re the reason my marriage didn’t work out."

Alex paused to catch his breath, keeping his eyes on hers before continuing.

"That’s why I choose to keep this to myself instead of sharing it with you or others around us. I feel like it’s better for you if I focus on safeguarding my own feelings. I’d rather do this than see you go through any pain..."

Aurora was taken aback by his words. However, it didn’t take long before she laughed.

"Why are you laughing, Rory? I’m serious..."

"I understand. But your words sound amusing to me. Alright, I agree you’re quite a fool, Alex!"

"What?" His eyes open wide in surprise at her words. "Didn’t you say earlier, I’m not?" he protests.

Aurora chuckled at his sullen expression.

"I take back my words..." She smiled at Alex’s protest through his gaze.

"Alex, if you don’t want me to suffer, you must put more effort into your marriage, right!? Why do you keep getting divorced? You’re being foolish!" Aurora sighed, shaking her head at his silence.

Alex could only laugh bitterly, feeling defeated as he heard her words. She is indeed correct.

This is why he chose to keep his arranged marriage to Aurora Spencer a secret from her; he knew she would be upset with him. freewēbnoveℓ.com

After a long pause, Alex tried to calm his mind, reflecting on his six failed marriages. He glanced at her again and smiled while pulling her close to him.

"Rory, I won’t deny your words; you are right. I didn’t put in any effort. But I have to ask, how is it possible for me to feel trapped in a marriage I never wanted? I can’t..."

"Well, Mr. Graystone, at least you need to get one of your wives pregnant to stop your parents and Grandpa from forcing you into another marriage. They only need an heir and don’t care about your happy marriage."

Aurora smiled playfully to tease him, but her expression quickly hardened when she met his sultry gaze.

’Geez, why should I talk about it now?’ she could only scold herself in her mind while trying to change the subject or hoping Alex wouldn’t twist her words. However, it was too late.

"Rory, let’s get one now. We need a baby to stop them bothering me," Alex said, sitting up straight and holding her hand, eager to lead her to bed.

Aurora, "..."

"Stop, stop it, Alex. Please, not right now!" She quickly refused.

How could they make love now when her mind was still unsettled? She still needs to know his opinion and his plan about his grandfather.

Alex turned to see her, clearly confused by her refusal.

"Rory, please don’t tell me you’re still on your period? I won’t believe it!"

Aurora smiled and shook her head. "No, I’m not on my period. But, Alex, we need to talk about your Grandpa!"

Suddenly, the joy in his eyes vanished, replaced by a dark shadow looming behind him.

He tried to set aside his Grandpa’s issue, as he wanted to avoid seeing her sad once more. A plan was already forming in his mind for dealing with the situation.

"Do you trust me, Rory?" His voice settled back into its familiar calmness, soothing enough to reassure Aurora and help her believe in him.

"I believe you, and I’d love to understand your plan a bit better. This will help me support you if he tries to deny it..." Aurora paused, noticing his slight frown. "Alex, there’s something important you should know."

"Do you still have more information about it?"

Aurora quickly revealed what she had discovered so far: her father’s phone number was linked to the fuel truck driver who hit her. There was a record of the phone number used to reach out to him a week before the accident.

"Alex, I suspect that your Grandpa deliberately used my father’s cellphone to frame him as the perpetrator. As a scapegoat for what your Grandpa did to me!"

Aurora’s fists tightened, suppressing her anger as she imagined Andrew Graystone secretly orchestrating such an evil scheme.
