Chapter 82: 82

After Veronica left, Lily didn’t waste any time. She took out her phone and opened a discreet application, typing a short message to an anonymous number: The work is done. She won’t be able to come out alive.

Now, as promised, you should give my daughter a position at the head office.

She hit send, watched the screen for a second, then deleted the message and exited the app without a trace. Confident that she had covered her tracks, Lily relaxed slightly.

Unbeknownst to her, she wasn’t as invisible as she believed. She didn’t know that her every move, every secret whisper through her phone, was being watched.

Days ago, Aurora had carefully planted a silent virus into Lily’s phone.

No one had noticed. Not even a trace remained on the surface. Sitting quietly in the car, Aurora lazily twirled her phone between her fingers, her eyes half-lidded as she watched the message from Lily flash across the screen.

She slipped an earbud in, the soft murmur of the recorded call whispering into her ear, every word sharpening the glint in her eyes. A slow, satisfied smirk tugged at her lips, cold and predatory

"Bishop," she said casually, her gaze still on the screen, "do you have any findings about what I asked you to look into?"

Bishop, seated beside her, sighed and ran a hand through his short hair. "Apart from the information I relayed this morning, there’s nothing new for now. I’m still working on it and should have something soon."

"Okay," Aurora murmured, locking her phone and slipping it into her pocket. Her amber eyes gleamed. "Look deeper into the connection between Queen’s Group and Aurora Smith."

Bishop glanced at her, studying the sharpness in her eyes, and nodded. "Sure."

"Also, stop Knight and Hunter from meeting me for now. It would only raise suspicion," Aurora added, her voice calm but firm.

"Let them keep working on the mission they were assigned. When the time is right, we’ll meet."

The car rolled to a stop at the azure mansion. Bishop quietly stepped out and opened the door for her. Aurora adjusted her coat and stepped out into the cool evening breeze.

The sky was painted a fading shade of gold as the sun dipped toward the horizon. She made her way up the steps quietly, her mind still ticking through plans.

As she pushed open the door and stepped into the mansion’s vast hallway, she immediately sensed something different—someone was inside.

Her footsteps slowed as she noticed a tall figure standing by the grand window at the far end of the hall, his silhouette illuminated by the warm glow of the setting sun.

He stood there casually, one hand tucked into his pocket, the other resting at his side, his sleeves rolled up to his forearms, revealing toned muscles

His broad shoulders, sharp jawline, and the aura that radiated from him made it impossible to mistake him for anyone else.

Aurora’s heart skipped a beat.

The golden sunlight framed him perfectly, making him look almost ethereal, like a god crafted by ancient hands.

His face, half-shadowed and half-lit, was devastatingly handsome. There was a quiet danger in his stillness, a restrained power that made the air feel heavy.

Noticing her presence, Sebastian Harper slowly turned toward her. His sharp grey eyes locked onto hers, and for a moment, the world seemed to narrow down to just the two of them.

The mansion was silent except for the faint ticking of a distant clock.

Aurora quickly composed herself, smoothing out the small hitch in her breath. She crossed her arms casually and said, "Mr. Harper, it seems you returned sooner than expected."

It had been five days since Sebastian had left for a business trip. He had initially said it might take weeks, but here he was, standing before her.

"Ms. Smith," Sebastian said in his usual deep, steady voice, his tone carrying a magnetic pull. "Good to see you."

His eyes roamed her figure briefly, taking in the slight bruises scattered on her hands and arms. His brows furrowed, a flicker of something dark flashing through his gaze.

"I hope Ms. Smith is okay," he said, his voice lower now, edged with a subtle intensity.

Aurora merely nodded and walked past him toward the living room, taking a seat on one of the leather sofas. She could feel his gaze following her every step.

Sebastian, moving with quiet purpose, fetched the first aid kit that was always kept nearby.

Without a word, he knelt in front of her, opening the kit and taking out antiseptic and bandages.

Aurora raised an eyebrow but didn’t stop him. She watched silently as he took her hand gently in his, inspecting the bruises and cuts.

He applied the ointment with careful, precise movements, his face an unreadable mask.

But Aurora could sense the tension simmering underneath.

What Aurora didn’t know was that Sebastian had received word of her kidnapping almost the moment his plane touched the ground.

The reports from his network of informants had been clear— Dr. Elena was in danger.

He had immediately diverted from his scheduled meetings, rushing back to Estria. When he reached Calvert Mansion, he had found it reduced to ruins. His heart had nearly stopped.

Deploying more men to search for her, Sebastian had finally received intel confirming that Aurora was alive and safe.

A wave of relief had flooded through him, loosening the tight knot in his chest, but a gnawing anxiety still refused to let go.

And now, seeing the bruises firsthand, rage churned violently within him, barely held back by the thin thread of his self-control.

Yet he stayed silent, meticulously treating her injuries.

Aurora smirked down at him, her eyes gleaming mischievously.

"It seems Mr. Harper is quite skilled in treating women," she said, her voice mocking, teasing.

Sebastian paused for a fraction of a second, then responded coolly, not rising to the bait, "Your hands are used to treat Jenny. I don’t want any delays in her treatment."

Aurora chuckled softly, amused by his serious reply. She pulled her hand free from his gentle grasp and stood up gracefully.

"Mr. Harper need not worry about that," she said lightly, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "There won’t be any delays in Jenny’s treatment."

She tilted her head slightly, a playful glint in her eyes, and added, "Make yourself at home."

With that, she turned and made her way upstairs, leaving Sebastian kneeling by the sofa, his eyes following her until she disappeared down the hallway.frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
