Re:Ant Lord-Chapter 48: The Gathering
Chapter 48: 48: The Gathering
---
The first pale light of dawn broke gently over the Ant Kingdom as delicate silver beams danced along the ancient stone walls. Outside, the murmuring world stirred to life. A quiet promise of challenge and mystery whispered on every breeze. Today marked the beginning of an expedition that would change the lives of a few brave ants forever.
Kai, newly healed and evolved to Two-Star, emerged from the worker ants modest chamber. His resting place was simple, a humble space with a leaf mattress and carefully arranged moss cushions.
With steady determination, he trod toward the great gate (main gate), a magnificent arch carved with ancient symbols and mural’s of battle and hope, that marked the threshold of this ant kingdom. Some giant statues of some kind of ant warriors. Kai didn’t focus on the statues, but his focus was on the ants who were standing beneath the statues.
There, beneath the rising rays of the morning sun, a company of five ants awaited him. They stood in perfect formation, a diverse band of warriors destined to share a dangerous journey.
As Kai joined them, he was very curious about his hunting team so he issued a quiet command, "System, please show me the Rank of these Ants."
In a brief flash of radiant text that only he could see, the names and ranks appeared in simple clarity:
[Ding! System notifications:
Captain Darius: strongest among all (Three-Star)
Thren: (Three-Star)
Lomar: (Three-Star)
Vexor: (Three-Star)
Renna: (Two-Star) ]
A knot of mixed resolve and quiet trepidation tightened in Kai’s heart. Captain Darius’s cold name reminded him of the trouble he suffered and secret enmity, a bitterness that might one day prove fatal. Yet there was no time to falter now; princess Mia had set this mission in motion. Kai promised her that he won’t pick a fight with this cunning and scum of an ant. At least not now....
Before any formal greetings could be exchanged, a soft radiance heralded the arrival of a regal presence. Princess Mia stepped forward with a quiet, magnetic grace. Her eyes shone with molten gold, warm yet steely with purpose. In a voice as soft as a lullaby yet firm as a forged blade, she addressed the gathered warriors.
"Warriors, hunters of our Kingdom, today you all will embark upon an expedition of great importance. You are to venture forth beyond these ancient walls in search of the star crystal mine. There your job is to collect as much as you can carry back. It is my personal mission. Make sure nobody knows about this mission. It’s very important to me. Now is the time and opportunity to show your loyalty towards me."
"Darius come forward," she commanded, then she handed him an old rolled piece of paper. "Take this."
"I have provided you with a map," on the map there was a writing... Star Crystal Mine and some drawings of the forest and circle on the hills. She continued, "This is your only guide. The road ahead will be full of danger, be careful. When you return with the star crystal you all will be given an equal value reward."
"Captain Darius, you will lead this mission. Everyone’s safety is in your hands, don’t disappoint me. You must remember not to question the map’s design, nor the secret it guards, success of this mission depends on everyone’s unity and strength."
Her gentle yet commanding tone made the assembled ants stand a little taller. For a brief, charged moment, her eyes met with Kai’s, a silent vow passed between them that none of this was mere happenstance.
Then she says, "Everyone Good Luck," she continues, "but know that my faith in you shines as brightly as the morning star. Return victorious with the crystals."
Captain Darius broke the silence with a low, measured order: "Let us depart at once. The wild awaits. Remember, our objective is clear: locate the star crystal mine and collect every crystal you can find. These are our keys to power. Move out!"
And so, united by duty and the burning promise of Princess Mia, the five warriors and Kai stepped forward as the massive gate swung open, revealing the vast, untamed wilderness beyond.
With one graceful nod to Princess Mia they stepped through the great gate, Kai and his comrades were met by a world both fierce and beautiful.
The land stretched out in an endless mosaic of rugged hills, ancient forests, and sprawling plains. The cool morning air was scented with dew and the soft tang of wild herbs was a reminder that nature held both mercy and menace in its embrace.
Under the open sky, every tiny step on the uneven earth seemed to echo with the cadence of forgotten legends. The team marched as one, each of their legs moving in a steady rhythm that blended determination with caution.
The map, with its cryptic message "star crystal mine," rested securely in their collective memory, a silent beacon guiding them deeper into the unknown.
As they advanced along a narrow woodland path, the subtle rustle of leaves and a distant bird call were the only sounds for a long while. But then, danger made itself known. Hidden in the dense undergrowth, a trap... expertly constructed of intertwined, thorny vines suddenly sprang forth, threatening to ensnare the unwary.
With lightning reflexes born of countless battles, Kai leaped aside. The trap snapped shut where he had just stood, leaving only the echo of its fury behind. Though no one spoke of it, the tension in the air was palpable, a silent reminder that malevolent eyes might be watching from the shadows.
Darius mockingly says, "Watch out newbie. Don’t die on me. I can’t babysit you." he acted very cool.
But inside his mind he thinks, "This lowly Kai has some good reflexes. It would be better if he got injured and later died. I need to make sure that he can’t come back from this expedition. But I can do it directly. Other’s ants will notice it."
