I spent the next hour buying building materials and other items these new inhabitants might require to properly settle down, after which I left Aurora, Lucille, and Ayame behind so that they could see the proceedings through properly, such as seeing if there are promising combatans, craftsmen, or any other talented individuals among the newcomers.

But we had places to be, so the rest of us returned to Emberfang.

The dogkin army was nowhere to be seen, having already departed to Sunscar. Armies like these were vastly different from the armies of Earth in many things, but one of the most noticeable things was the speed of travel.

There were no fragile supply lines that had to be protected, thanks to the pocket rings, which also meant that there were no slow carriages that threatened to fall apart if drawn too quickly. If that wasn't enough, even the weakest soldier could outrun a horse, letting the army move about with speeds a general from Earth would gawk at before fainting.

It was time I made good on my promise to Vex, namely the one where I helped her bathe. However, I didn't just want to repeat our last bathing session; that would be boring. No. This time, instead of being surrounded by boring nothing, I'll hold this woman in my arms while we observed an absolute spectacle, a true cinematic experience.

I raised a hand.

The wind answered.

A powerful whoosh swept beneath our feet. It wasn't strong enough to knock us off balance, but it was enough to lift us into the sky like leaves on an updraft. Vex let out a delighted giggle, and Kitsara scoffed and told me she could fly on her own, which she proved by creating eagle wings using her illusion magic, while Blossom's tail wagged excitedly as she needily found her way right onto my back, letting her sniff and lick me to her heart's desire.

At the same time, Ignis, Raika, and Iris offered no specific reaction, they simply allowed me to carry them.

In this manner, we soared.

The world below blurred into greens and golds and the burnt-red hues of Emberfang's volcanic terrain.

Below us, Sunscar came into view after only a few minutes of high-speed flight.

The dogkin army had already surrounded it, forming an iron ring around the city. It was a beautiful thing to witness from above: synchronized movements, disciplined formations, tactical lines of control. Beyond them, like thunderclouds on the horizon, the bearkin approached. Their massive forms marched through the plains with mountain-breaking strides, kicking up dust in their wake.

But I had no intention of heading into that mess.

Not yet.

Instead, I turned my gaze to a high hill just east of Sunscar, untouched by battle and high in elevation, perfect for what I had in mind. I guided the winds down gently, setting us upon the hilltop with a gentle impact.

Then I went to work.

With a flick of my wrist, the earth answered.

Stone reshaped itself beneath my will, flattening and smoothing into elegant terraces. I hollowed out the largest one, carving it into the form of a luxurious bath—not crude or plain, but artfully sculpted with gentle curves and layered ledges like the baths of old nobility.

I created a second, smaller basin next, positioned slightly above and feeding into the main bath like a ritual cleansing spring. A gentle waterfall trickled down between the two, the water continually refreshed by my magic.

I crafted a standing showerhead next. Water flowed from it in a steady stream, gentle and steaming. As some of the ladies were wildly dirty, a showering session would have to happen before we stepped into the bath.

A burst of flame beneath the main bath kept it perfectly heated, making it not too hot, not too mild, but soothingly warm.

And the view?

Breathtaking.

The entire city of Sunscar lay beneath us in the distance, surrounded by the armies of beastkin who had come to massacre its residents. We were far enough to be safe, yet close enough to witness the splendor of war's anticipation: the calm before the inevitable storm.

Vex blinked as she took it all in, her mouth parting slightly.

I smirked and offered her my hand.

"Shall we, my villainess?"

She didn't answer, merely smiling beautifully while accepting my extended hand.

"Ah," I said, snapping my fingers, "I almost forgot."

Vex raised a brow as I turned toward the edge of the hill, holding out my hand. I materialized a tiny, unimpressive stone tub right at the base of the hill, far out of view from our vantage point.

I reached into the main bath, scooped up a handful of water with a swirl of wind, and promptly dumped it down. It splashed into the little tub with a satisfying sploosh, drenching the grass all around it.

Then, I casually tossed a fireball in.

Steam erupted in every direction, and a faint, glowing mist drifted lazily into the air.

"There you go, my good friend," I winked at Ignis.

The man looked at me with a long, flat stare, his gaze flicking from the elegant marble terraces of our bath to the sad little puddle I had offered him.

He sighed, exasperated. "Mega Rookie… You're just cruel."

"You were happy when I last gave a tub like that to you, saying you'll be unable to adventure without me," I replied, shrugging as Blossom giggled beside me.

"That was before I knew… Ah, you know what, never mind. Screw you."

He continued grumbling under his breath about me being the pettiest primordial ever, then crouched and leapt from the hill. His body trailed streaks of controlled flame as he slowed his descent, landing beside the tub with style.

His voice drifted upward as he eyed the pitiful thing. "This tub has three cracks in it already, you smug bastard!"

"Aww, my bad," I said before turning around, ignoring him.

Vex snorted. Kitsara cackled.

I gestured grandly for the ladies to join me in the warm waters that overlooked a city destined to fall.

First up: helping my future woman lose the large amount of blood from her sensual skin under the showerhead, where I would do my best to help her with a rather 'hands-on' approach, of course.
