Amazed to witness within this short period, how much Zenith had righteously matured into a wise man after Kylian had walked into his life, Barnes stared at him briefly with a diligent smile.

Indeed everything that he said was true, as even after a large gap of all these years, not for once Barnes could ever stop prioritizing anyone else in his life over Aiden. Still regarding the bond they had shared, even if all those memories only existed from his side now, Barnes never once stopped treasuring them from the core of his heart.

Without even stating a word, Barnes’s actions were evident to prove how precious Aiden has been to him always, to the extent that even Zenith could easily see through his pure heart, which made him empathize with him.

But Barnes didn’t directly answer his question, instead, with a soft grin on his face he rather teased Zenith, "You truly love Kylian a lot, isn’t it so, Young master?"

"So much...that this new life of mine without him feels impossible to live." Zenith retained a soft shy smile while professing his feelings, which were very radiant, just like the warm sun rays glistening on his handsome face when he continued.

"I want to be the air he breaths...I wish to make him smile for the rest of my life... I know he had to face many turbulences while growing up, but now, I always...want to make my Kyle the happiest he has ever been. To achieve that, I am prepared to do anything and everything for him, without holding any restraints. I want him to be my family, and share a future while he holds the anchor of my life.

"So...if these feelings aren’t relevant to what it’s called love...I don’t understand what else can be, Mr. Barnes."

"I am glad for you, young master." Like a proud guardian, his sincere confession made Barnes toss a wide smile on his lips when he exhaled a puff of smoke while staring distantly at the sky. "In this world...it’s quite a challenge to find such a precious true love, and I am glad that you’ve achieved it at such an early age, young master."

"I am not the only one here who has found my forever. Aren’t you in the same boat as me, Mr. Barnes?"

When Zenith darted his curt question at him, Barnes blinked his lashes with a perplexed gaze towards him, before he murmured, "Pardon?"

"You have been also in love with Aiden all this time, isn’t it so, Mr. Barnes?"

When Zenith inquired quite straightforwardly, his question made his heart pound erratically faster, making Barnes feel as if his heart was about to jump out of his chest. For a brief moment, Barnes felt stifled to breathe easy as he rolled his brown eyes in shock, "W-What? What...d-do you mean?"

"Well, I know that you do have an age gap between you two, and as far I know, Aiden doesn’t get drawn towards the older ones." Zenith shrugged while mumbling in a relaxed tone, even though Barnes held a dumbfounded expression fixated on him, hearing him continue.

"To be honest, if it was anyone else, I would have been way more against it, because I was concerned for Aiden as my friend because he tends to be quite thick-skulled sometimes.

"But...since it’s you in question now, considering all these years of your devotion and sacrifices for him, to the extent that you even quit your career in the military overseas to return to the country only for Aiden, it convinced me enough to support you wholeheartedly in this endeavor, Mr. Barnes. I don’t mind to help you—"

"Wait...what are you even saying, Young master!?"

But before Zenith could finish his sentence, Barnes almost shrieked in panic with a gaze of disbelief rolled in his orbs. Tossing the cigarette away from his hand as it had almost burned his fingers when he got distracted, Mr. Barnes made a difficult expression when he grunted at him, "Me...in love with Master Aiden? Where did you even conclude that, Young master?"

"Huh?" As if Zenith didn’t have this reaction expected from him as the outcome, he frowned his brows, before addressing in a stiff tone, "You mean...that you weren’t in love with Aiden all this time?"

"Master Aiden is truly someone precious to me whom I never want to lose again...b-because since we were kids, we had promised to be each other’s family...and that’s how I have always treated him." Barnes ardently tried to hide the flustered red hue tainting his cheeks, with a gulp that made his voice sound hoarse, "And...that’s the only bond we shared together, Young Master. So...I don’t know...you might be mistaken—"

"Mistaken, hah!" A scoff escaped from Zenith when his smug widened on his dazzling handsome face, with his soft silver hairs rustling with the mild breeze wafting past them. He narrowed his gaze at Barnes, before charging him, "I don’t think I am the one who’s mistaken here... instead, you are the one who should face his emotions clearly, Mr. Barnes."

"No...y-you are actually mistaken, young master. I...I have never thought of Master Aiden...anything else...apart from my family..."

"If that’s true then don’t you realize your voice is trembling now? You should’ve sounded more confident, right?" Suddenly marching a step closer, when Zenith blatantly charged him with his accurate observation, Barnes flinched, realizing indeed his eyeballs were swirling anxiously and even his voice sounded a bit conflicted inside.

While he stood still bearing a contemplated face, Zenith exhaled a heavy huff of sigh, pondering on his own, ’Hah...what a thick-skulled duo! How could he never realize the way he keenly watches over Aiden, taking drastic measures by sacrificing his career to return only to be reunited with him...all these steps couldn’t be possibly taken if his feelings weren’t involved. I am not sure about Aiden, but this thick-headed guy definitely has feelings for him.’

But bearing his thoughts when he noticed Barnes’s face was turning a bit solemn, as if he was having a difficult time to process Zenith’s words, another big sigh exhaled from him when he continued thinking, ’It’s wild to think I was the type of person who never gave a fuck about these feelings or emotions towards anybody, but maybe...Kylian’s presence in my life had enlighted my vision to notice these stuff clearly than anybody else.

’Well, since I know Mr. Barnes is a good man, I should do my part by playing the cupid... At least, it won’t cause any harm, right?’
