POSSESSION: The Hidden Omega In All Alphas' Academy [BL]-Chapter 176: I promise!

[FLASHBACK: 13 Years Ago, Remsworth Mansion]

After passing out from the extreme pain and exhaustion Barnes had endured from the beating when he woke up, he felt as if he was lying down with a thousand needles being stuck inside his body.

Every part of his body was aching hard, especially when he woke up with his broken ribs bandaged, along with his nose which was also bandaged. His arms and wrists were also covered in bandages, but what surprised him the most was to find himself still alive after that brutal torment!

With a groan, when Barnes blinked open his eyes big, he flinched a little to find himself in an unknown cold dark damp room, compared to his room which was allotted for the servants in the mansion.

Mustering his inner strength, he struggled to sit up on his own on the small bed he was lying down. Upon taking a proper look at the surroundings, he saw there was a small broken window at the corner of the room which had the view of murky night, with stars shimmering brightly in it.

The room was quite cold but he had a small lamp lit on the side of the bed, which gave the place an eerie ambiance. Barnes started to feel anxious and the first thought that came to his mind was to worry about how was Aiden...and how was he coping with those painful scars on his body.

Suddenly at that moment, the wooden door of the room was pushed open from outside, and before he could figure out what was happening, an excited voice greeted him aloud, "You’re awake, Barnes?"

He could easily recognize the head butler Rick’s voice who almost rushed towards him in one breath, holding a sad smile on his trembling lips as if he was too emotional to start crying. "Barnes? When did you wake up? Are you hungry or thirsty? Shall I bring something for you?"

"S-Sir...w-where am I?" The first words Barnes struggled to utter was his pure confusion about this unknown place, which was making him strangely uneasy. "Why am I here...instead of the mansion? What about Master Aiden? Where is he—"

"Barnes, you woke up after a week! Right now, you should be worrying about yourself...instead of focusing on other trivial things!" Sitting beside him on the bed, the butler scolded him in a cold voice, but it didn’t silence him either.

"Master Aiden isn’t someone trivial for me! Sir...you know how much he means to me...so please tell me, where is this place? Where am I?"

"I know how much you worry for him, you stupid boy...to the point you almost traded your life in his place." With a heavy huff of sigh, Rick lifted his sad gaze to his face as he conversed, "And...I couldn’t watch to let you die either.

"That’s why, I brought you into this secret basement of the mansion to which only I have access. It was too risky to bring in doctors here to treat your wounds...but I endured every risk, just because I wish to see you alive, boy. After what has happened on that day, you must’ve realized it yourself that you can’t stay in this mansion anymore. Master Aiden is also healing from his scars, so...at least for his sake...you must leave this place, Barnes."

The sadness in his voice was too evident for Barnes to ignore, but he couldn’t let a word out, as if his throat was getting stifled inside from pain. Gritting his jaws, Barnes exhaled a deep sigh, before breaking the silence, "I...I am truly glad to hear Master Aiden doing well... I knew I couldn’t stay in the mansion there anymore...and...I am grateful to you for saving me, sir. freewebnσvel.cѳm

"But...you should’ve let me die. I don’t have any family...I don’t have any shelter...and now, I don’t have anything left in this world anymore. So...how am I supposed to live...sir?"

As Barnes murmured, tears dripped down his distressed eyes drop by drop, making his voice shudder from his heartwrenching grief. As if the butler could see his pain vividly through him, he gently patted his shoulder to console him a bit, "I know...I know it will be very painful for you to live on your own from now onwards, especially after you have gotten so attached to your young master.

"But...turn today’s pain into tomorrow’s power, boy. Build yourself stronger and powerful. Take this second chance of life as your driving force to rebuild yourself. You’re not completely alone...you still have young master who’s as precious to you as your family, right? So become someone stronger for him...so that one day you would be able to protect him from every pain, without being separated from him ever again."

As if, Rick told the exact words Barnes’s broken heart wanted to hear, he clenched his jaws, swallowing his tears inside when he murmured, "Do you think...I can be someone strong for Master Aiden? But if I leave him now...won’t it mean that I am abandoning him?"

"Barnes, right now...the time isn’t in your favor. You can’t stay here if you wish to see Young Master doing well in life. But, do remember it, I will always believe in you, my boy! Right now, I know this separation has left a grave impact on him as well. Young Master’s life would never be the same without you.

"But...you must become someone strong for him. I know, he will be proud to recognize you himself and by then, you will come back for him again, right?"

Despite realizing the hard decision he was bound to make was also for Aiden’s sake. Sobbing painfully, Barnes realized the old man was actually speaking the truth and there was no reason left to defy him anymore.

It was a dead end...

The end...of his beautiful bond with his Master Aiden.

"Yes...Sir...(Hic)...I promise...I will come back for him someday...I will beg for his mercy and will make sure never to abandon him ever again...I will be stronger for him...and...we will reunite once again...I promise..." Barnes sobbed, hugging the old man tight as it ripped his innocent heart into shreds to finally accept the truth.
