The touch of Aiden’s cool palm on Kylian’s cheek jolted him from shock. Retrieving his senses back, he realized the uneasy heartache flared inside him had unknowingly let him tear up, as his pearl-white tears were streaming down his burning hot cheeks.

For a brief moment, Kylian was stunned to realize he couldn’t suppress his tears after hearing the bitter revelation about Zenith from Aiden...but what shocked him the most was despite he was a strong resilient boy since growing up, swearing himself never to show his weakness before the world...

Now that his path had crossed with Zenith, that one person had turned him too sensitive and an emotional mess inside, to the point he was shedding tears for the one he should’ve never gotten attached to in the first place!

Moved by the sincerity in every small gesture that Zenith had shown him all this time, his naive heart had already assumed there was a special connection blooming between them...only to have his short-lived bliss crash by the truth of Zenith’s playboy nature.

Learning that Zenith detested being tied to a relationship with one person hit him like a thunderbolt. And most importantly, Kylian was the complete opposite of his preferred type among the fuckbuddies, and a dominant omega in the first place.

Thus, even thinking about a blurred future with him led the agony inside his broken heart to stream down his eyes as tears, but it made Kylian feel ashamed to have Aiden watch this side of him.

Even though Kylian tried hard to fake his smile and pretend to be fine, just gazing at the sadness that prevailed in his ocean eyes gave Aiden the clear answer he was looking for.

~ "I knew that Zenith was playing around with this boy, that’s why I told you to make a move on him when you’re interested in him, Aiden." His beta wolf Dazen growled inside him impatiently, making Aiden wince from his inner thoughts.

Scratching the back of his neck, Aiden exhaled a big sigh while mind linking with his wolf, "Stop it Dazen, stop trying to put these awkward thoughts in me—"

~ "You can try and lie to yourself as much as you want, but you can convince me with your lies, Aiden! I can watch and feel everything that’s going inside you right now to watch this boy in pain! You’re attracted to him...and it isn’t a shame for a beta to be infatuated with an Alpha, despite my intuitions keep telling me that he isn’t probably the one...

~ "But listen to my advice. You still haven’t lost your chance Aiden...after knowing Zenith all this time, you know he would hurt him in the end...so this is your chance to build a closer bond with him! This time Aiden couldn’t blatantly oppose Dazen’s words as he could find a strange solace just by hearing his wolf. His heart was indeed aching to watch Kylian in pain, but considering it as a chance for him, he mustered his inner strength and acted stoic while handing his handkerchief to Kylian, "Here, take it and wipe your tears."

In this new environment, Kylian had barely assumed Aiden might mock him for crying before him but rather watching his approach to offer him his expensive silk handkerchief to wipe his tears, his gentlemanly act made him feel comfortable with him.

Kylian quietly wiped his tears and held a soft smile on his lips when he mumbled, "Thank you, Aiden. To be honest, my first impression about you wasn’t good either...but...you turned out to be a really nice guy."

"You don’t need to thank me, I can do this much for my friend, right?" Aiden’s confident answer left Kylian a little startled as he swiftly turned his eyes on him, bearing a look of disbelief. But a cryptic smirk curved his lips when Aiden added further, "What? Didn’t you tell me in the hallway last night that you would be comfortable being friends with a beta? Or...have you changed your mind already?"

"Oh...no...I was just surprised to hear you are willing to be my friend here." Taking a few minutes to process his words, Kylian smiled tenderly with a sigh of relief, "I am sure the gang boys wouldn’t like it if you were friends with me...but, thank you for considering it."

"Don’t worry, if I and Zenith are by your side, no one will dare to pick a fight with you here." Aiden shrugged, sounding a bit boisterous from his tone when he ran his thick fingers on his brown hair to push them above his forehead, "Besides, I might be a beta as my trait, but my strength isn’t any less than Zenith. So, even if he isn’t here...if you stay by my side, I can protect you well."

"Haha," Kylian let out a soft chuckle after hearing his assurance, as his mood was finally a little better from all the gloomy emotions that had swallowed him inside. With a small nod, he admitted, "Well, I am also a strong guy myself, but if I need any protection here, then I can count on you if Zenith isn’t around."

’I want to watch him smile like this always...despite I know I shouldn’t let these emotions overpower me. I know Zenith bestowed me with the task of watching over him if he’s not around, but I can’t help but feel a little greedy. After all, I also deserve an ounce of happiness in my life, right?’ The series of thoughts processed in Aiden’s mind one after another as he couldn’t help but exhale a big sigh.

Smiling amicably as they sat together on the rooftop while watching the view, Kylian murmured to himself in his mind, ’His approach just made it easy for me. Dr. Albert had asked me to build a cordial friendship with the betas of the Academy, and him being the strongest one here would aid my path of survival here.
