Possessed Wolfless: From Rejected to Vengeful Lycans' Queen-Chapter 87: New Ally
Chapter 87: New Ally
Lethia couldn’t tell them what she knew. They wouldn’t believe her anyway.
Wait... what if she just told them she had super hearing? But how? Should she pretend her wolf was back? No—stupid idea.
The chip had their powers locked down. How the hell was she supposed to explain that?
And if she said anything about the fox spirit possessing her... yeah, no. That would only draw the kind of attention she hated.
Lethia scratched at her scalp, agitated, searching for another way out.
Better to skip the whole debate on which enemy team still had living members and just throw out a solid plan instead.
"Let’s just wait for the guards’ floor to open. It’ll be less than three hours from now. We’re already on the fifth floor, and that gives us the upper hand," Lethia suggested.
"Wait and ask them to give us blue cards? We only have four cards. Are you saying we’ll use the six-hour extension to fight again?" Adam asked, voice calm but wary.
Lethia shook her head. "No. We’ll take the easy route. If we can’t kill our enemies, let’s make peace with them and be friends."
"What the hell are you saying?" Rowan scoffed. "It’s faster to just attack them now, steal the last red card, then head up to the sixth floor and revive Flo and Chasey. It’s simpler that way, no?"
"But I only have one life bar left, and so do you, Rowan. And Lethia’s condition doesn’t look like she can shoot anymore. So it’s not a smart move," Adam countered, steady and firm.
"Ah yeah, I forgot. We’ve got a baby on board now, gotta keep it safe," Rowan muttered, irritated and just snide enough to sting.
That hit a nerve. Lethia clenched her jaw, pissed. It was like he was saying she was a burden. And maybe he had a point.
But that didn’t stop her from wanting to chuck the mineral water bottle in her hand right at his head.
"I’m sure Squad B3 is all in dead status right now," Lethia said flatly.
And just like that, all eyes locked on her.
Rowan let out a mocking laugh. "Here we go again. You keep spouting things you can’t prove. And worse, you say it like you’re so certain. I honestly don’t get how you passed all the previous tests. Sheer luck? Or maybe the rumours are true, that you’ve got some big-shot backing you fro—"
Before he could finish, Flo elbowed him hard in the ribs, cutting him off mid-sentence.
"I think you crossed the line, Rowan," Adam said, his tone a quiet warning.
Lethia exhaled through her nose, gently rubbing her belly to keep her pup from picking up on her irritation.
She could understand Rowan’s doubts. What she couldn’t tolerate was that untrained mouth of his. Still, snapping back in anger wouldn’t help anything.
"Are my assumptions wrong, though?" Lethia replied coldly. "I don’t think so. Every single one of them turned out to be right in the end, didn’t they?"
She then continued, "We all know who the members of Squad B1 are, right? Feels to me like the enemies we just fought were just pawns. If Squad B3 had more than two people left, Victor wouldn’t be playing bait. He did that because the dead can’t fire a gun."
She crossed her legs and arms, staring straight at Rowan with razor-edged calm.
"Now I’m wondering how you managed to pass all the tests before, with logic that shallow. Could it be you had someone pulling strings for you?"
A low, cutting smirk tugged at the corner of her lips.
Rowan was left speechless, sulking in silence. freewebnσvel.cøm
Adam let out a sigh, shaking his head like a tired dad fed up with kids poking each other’s nerves just for the thrill of it.
"What did you mean by ’befriend them’?" Adam asked.
"Since only one team got completely wiped out, that makes them the eliminated squad, doesn’t it? I’m pretty sure Squad B1 holds all six red cards now. They only need five to win. We just need one more. So we strike a deal, ally with them, and unlock the penthouse together," Lethia explained.
Adam chuckled. "That’s... bold. But do you really think they’d want to ally with us?"
"We would find out soon." Lethia pressed her lips together, her gaze distant and unfocused. Truth be told, she wasn’t entirely sure about her own plan.
It was so obvious that Squad B1 didn’t like her. Hell, they might even despise her. But like it or not, weren’t they all chasing the same goal?
The real problem was the guards. No one had a clue what kind of game they would throw at them in exchange for the blue card.
And gods, Lethia could only hope whatever it was wouldn’t mess with their current team structure.
An hour before the guards were set to appear, Squad B2’s members gathered in Meeting Room 5, slumped in their seats, exhausted and half-asleep. It was already 4 a.m.
Adam had suggested they hold off on negotiation until after the team was revived, just in case things went sideways and they had to shoot their way out again. But Lethia insisted on doing it now, before the sixth floor opened up.
Chasey and Flo were tasked with delivering the message because of their dead status. Lethia wanted to speak with Thania face to face. Just the two of them.
And so they met on the fourth floor. No paintball guns. No back-up. Their life bars are still full.
"You really are a lucky bitch, I guess," Thania sneered.
"Why? Want me to share some of it with you?" Lethia replied coolly, eyeing her with calm confidence, though inside, she could barely stomach the woman. She hated her guts.
Thania’s loud laugh rang out, sharp and grating, only fuelling the irritation already buzzing in Lethia’s ears.
"You’re bold, I’ll give you that." Thania tossed her hair with a smirk. "Look, I don’t really have anything personal against you. But I can’t tolerate you calling out Victor that way." She took a step closer, her tone tightening. "Who the hell are you, really? And how did you even know that?"
