Chapter 24: Completely Bare

Renar smirked in triumph as Lethia chose to stay with him. Without a word, Zeran strode toward the elevator, his steps sharp, his fists clenched.

Just as the doors were about to shut, he stopped them and said,

"Ah, you both better pay me back soon for the tax penalty on the flying car. I’ll be collecting it soon." He smirked as the elevator doors slid shut.

Lethia, hearing that she apparently owed something she never even used, threw Renar a questioning look.

"It happened when you got stabbed. I had to make a quick decision. You don’t need to worry about it," Renar reassured her, settling into the chair beside her.

"Hmm... No... You both need to worry when Zeran says he’ll be collecting a debt," Caelum chimed in casually, spearing a juicy grilled scallop and popping it into his mouth.

"Should I?" Lethia asked, blowing on her soup before taking a sip. "Is he really your uncle? He looks young... and kind of different from you both."

"First off, we’re all the same age. The three of us even share the same birthday. You’ll see the resemblance once you get to know us better. It’s just that Zeran’s a bit different because his moth—"

"CAEL! You better go home now or else..." Renar snapped, his voice cutting through the room like a whip. His gaze locked onto Caelum with an unspoken threat.

Caelum’s face scrunched up as he chewed his scallop, sulking like a kicked puppy. Lethia had to fight the laugh bubbling in her chest.

He looked exactly like he did in the snack commercial her employees had shown her, pouting the same way while chewing. If they ever found out she was sitting at the same table as him now, they’d brand her a traitor and haunt her for days.

Even though she pretended not to care, the way Renar had cut off Caelum’s words left a heavy silence in the air. And it only made her more curious.

Caelum left the dining table with clear reluctance. Before he walked away, he patted Lethia’s shoulder, squeezed it lightly, and gave her that signature playful grin, promising they’d meet again soon. But the tension in his jaw and the way his grip lingered sent a strange shiver down her spine—like he was holding something back, something feral.

"C’mon... I’ll take you to your room." Renar gestured for Lethia to follow once she had finished her meal.

Lethia rubbed her full stomach, feeling the weight of her meal settle in. Her hand instinctively moved to her lower abdomen, surprised at how quiet the baby had become. Maybe it was full too, sleeping soundly inside her.

"You can use this room." Renar pushed open the door to a spacious bedroom, setting her suitcase beside a king-sized bed that looked undeniably inviting.

He pressed a button on the bedframe, then explained how the mattress would automatically adjust to her body’s ergonomic needs, ensuring maximum comfort.

Lethia could already imagine how blissful that would feel. Her body ached, her limbs felt heavy, and exhaustion was creeping in fast.

"The bathroom is over there." Renar nodded toward the corner of the room, where a door waited. Just the thought of a shower had her itching to clean up.

"Thank you..." she murmured, avoiding his gaze.

Renar didn’t answer right away. Instead, he studied her in silence before letting out a low chuckle.

"It’s part of our deal. Until I figure out why the Unbonding Pill doesn’t work on your scent, you’ll be my guest."

"Just a guest?" Lethia knew she shouldn’t have asked, but if she was going to carry out the fox’s mission, she had to start somewhere. Creating ripples between them was necessary, right?

She had never seduced a man before, but the fact that Renar couldn’t resist her scent was an advantage—one she needed to use well.

Renar didn’t answer, didn’t take the bait. He only smiled, slow and knowing.

"My room is right across from yours. If you need anything, don’t bother knocking on my door. Just ask Muffy, the butler robot, by pressing this button." Renar pointed to the small panel near the door.

"Don’t forget to lock your door." He reminded her before stepping out, Lethia following him to the threshold.

"You too." She shot back, earning a questioning glance from Renar. "Just in case I decide to jump you again—like in the hospital."

Click. Beep.

Lethia shut the door and locked it with a sigh. The day had been long, and right now, her body craved nothing more than the soothing embrace of a hot bath.

She entered the bathroom, already expecting luxury. And it did not disappoint. A deep soaking tub, nearly the size of a small jacuzzi, sat waiting, large enough to fit two people comfortably.

Turning the faucet, she adjusted the temperature to a perfect warmth, just enough to melt the tension from her nerves. The moment her clothes hit the floor, she sank into the water, letting it engulf her.

The heat spread over her skin, a wave of relaxation shooting through her bloodstream, stripping away the weight of the day.

The soft scent of roses and citrus from the bath bomb curled into the air, soothing her mind. Tonight, she wouldn’t think about her mounting problems. Tonight, she would surrender to rest.

’But... is it really okay to relax this much?’

Lethia trailed her fingers over her soapy skin, from her arm to her chest, noticing the subtle changes in her body.

’My breasts feel fuller than before... And my lower belly is finally showing a real bump.’

She ran a hand over the curve of her chest, intending only to cleanse, but the soft graze of her fingertips against her sensitive peaks sent an unexpected shiver down her spine. A small gasp slipped past her lips.

’Why am I so sensitive today? Is this pregnancy hormones?’

Even the simple act of washing herself sent jolts through her core. Lethia had heard that pregnant she-wolves often became more... insatiable. Their hormones driving them into heightened states of need.

["Because you’re needy."]

Her eyes snapped open. That voice.

’You...’

["What? Miss me already? You were so eager to send me away earlier."]

’You... why didn’t you come when I actually wanted you to?’

["Ha... ha... You think you know me? Ah, but you were clever, weren’t you? Figured out how to send me out. But let’s be real, darling, you’ll crave my power soon enough. Ha ha ha..."]

’Stop messing around. Tell me how we can work together.’

["Oh, we will. But partnerships require trust, don’t they? And foxes... we hold grudges. You deceived me."]

’You deceived me first, pretending to know everything about my mind, when in reality, you can only read me when I meet your eyes in a reflection.’

["Whoa... so sharp. I’m impressed. But... I still need to settle my grudge."]

Before she even realized what was happening, Lethia stood. Stepped out of the bathtub. And walked straight out of the bathroom, completely bare.
