Pokémon: Chronicles of Freedom-Chapter 579 - 578: Diamond Feeding Method?
Chapter 579 - 578: Diamond Feeding Method?
The diamonds weren't very large, only about the size of a fingernail.
In this world, diamonds didn't carry the same air of "eternal treasure," so while they held value, it wasn't anything excessive.
They were considered a valuable adornment but not of great importance.
Strictly speaking, diamonds are a type of mineral, right? In that case, Larvitar and Aron should be able to eat them.
Cain called Larvitar and Aron over.
At this point, Larvitar had excellent control over its strength, and walking on the grass barely left any visible marks—evidence of its progress.
With its little red backpack strapped on, Larvitar hopped over to Cain, munching casually on a piece of mineral as if it were chocolate.
Larvitar always ate faster. Cain had given it roasted meat earlier, but it had already finished it and was now filling its stomach with minerals.
Aron, on the other hand, was calmer and approached Cain slowly.
Looking at his two companions, Cain smiled in satisfaction, patting their heads.
Larvitar's head was rough, like rock, while Aron's was smoother, with a clear metallic feel.
During their time of training, both had grown considerably.
First, Larvitar. Although its height and weight hadn't increased much, its skin was darker, its texture was more solid, and it seemed to be developing an armor-like layer reminiscent of Tyranitar.
Perhaps this was due to the fragment of Groudon's armor that it carried on its back, subtly influencing its development.
It could also be attributed to the high-quality minerals it consumed, along with the Pokéblocks and calcium supplements, which fostered its exceptional growth.
Wild Tyranitar raised in nature didn't have access to the luxurious minerals Cain provided his Larvitar.
Even those raised by other trainers rarely received minerals of such high quality.
Cain's training method was comparable to Steven's care for his Metagross. Without substantial financial resources, such a method would be impossible.
The minerals Cain had spent 10 million Pokédollars on would soon be devoured by Larvitar.
And Aron was another big eater.
Since joining Cain, Aron's diet had significantly improved.
Occasionally enjoying delicious roasted meat, with an abundance of high-quality minerals daily, and supported by special Pokéblocks, it had entered an ideal growth phase.
Moreover, Larvitar and Aron's Pokéblocks contained a rare ingredient: geocentric cleansing milk. This helped them better perceive Ground- and Rock-type energies while enhancing their physical condition, increasing their longevity, and prolonging their peak phase.
Thanks to the Groudon armor that Larvitar always carried on its back, its control over Ground and Rock energies continued to improve, something that greatly pleased Cain.
The two Pokémon waited patiently for their trainer's instructions, enjoying the head pats with their eyes closed in delight.
Cain took out two diamonds and placed them in front of them.
When Larvitar and Aron saw the diamonds in Cain's hands, their eyes sparkled.
Seeing their reactions, Cain smiled and said, "Looks like you can actually eat diamonds, huh?"
Larvitar and Aron nodded excitedly.
They could sense the tremendous amount of energy contained within the gleaming diamonds before them—far more than in any other mineral they had consumed so far.
Cain signaled for them to give it a try.
Larvitar immediately took one of the diamonds and put it in its mouth, while Aron grabbed the other from Cain's hand and swallowed it.
This time, eating wasn't as easy as with their usual minerals. Larvitar closed its eyes and bit down hard.
Watching this, Cain felt a bit of tooth pain himself.
He worried that Larvitar might break a tooth.
Crack!
A crisp sound came from Larvitar's mouth.
For a moment, Cain was concerned—had its teeth broken?
But he had underestimated Larvitar's dental resilience.
Crack!
Now it was Aron's turn. Cain worried less about Aron since its Steel typing gave it stronger teeth.
After breaking the diamond, the rest was easy. The diamonds turned into crunchy treats, and both Pokémon enthusiastically devoured them.
Once finished, they looked at Cain with hopeful eyes.
Their gazes clearly said, "We want more."
Cain couldn't help but be amazed that these little ones could eat diamonds like candy.
With no choice, he took out all the diamonds he had found among the minerals and placed them in front of them.
Larvitar and Aron ate faster and faster, effortlessly crunching the diamonds.
In no time, they had devoured all the diamonds.
Although diamonds weren't extremely valuable in this world, that small pile was still worth tens of thousands of Pokédollars.
Hic!
Both Pokémon let out a satisfied burp, patting their full stomachs.
This surprised Cain, as he had expected them to need more minerals to feel full. Had just a handful of diamonds been enough?
"Could it be because diamonds contain more energy and minerals than regular stones?" Cain murmured.
He let the little Pokémon play while he pondered an important question.
What would happen if Larvitar and Aron grew up eating diamonds?
The thought sent a shiver down his spine.
Could this be a new training method?
Diamond Feeding Method?
Better not—he couldn't afford it.
Even Steven would wince at the sight of hundreds of thousands of Pokédollars vanishing with each meal.
It was best to keep diamonds as an occasional snack.
He shelved the terrifying idea for now.
Then, Cain took out Shuichi's storage equipment and began examining its contents.
It wasn't surprising that someone who came to Mythical Island carried so many valuable materials, many of which were hard to find elsewhere. Clearly, they had been obtained on the island.
The old saying was true: killing and looting fills your pockets!
