A grunt escaped the Schneebiest's maw as it strike only caused freezing water to be sent everywhere, a large ripple coursing through the plateau as another dark bolt struck down from above, spitting saliva, the beast had not expected the rotund-looking intruder to be capable of moving so fast, in fact, so quickly to permit himself to wait until the last moment to land a strike whilst moving away, a cut had formed on its thick hide, though, to the creature, this wasn't much, it had seen worse in its time.

The problem was that weird, soundless lightning, it crackled a bit over the zombie's body and armour, but when it descended for a powerful strike that could nearly flatten the Schneebiest against the ground, it did not make as much as single noise, it could not tell if it was actually as fast as lightning, but it absolutely was too fast to properly react to.

Growling, it quickly spun and around, swinging its claws at Alkayne, truly, with a roundish chestplate, heavy-looking cape and prosthetic foot, even when one knew already, it was surprising to see him perform precise and flexible movements, the dichotomy between his appearance and movements truly confused the beast to no end.

Evading the claws, he pointed his index finger at his opponent, a thin arc of necrotic lightning shooting out, rather than shocking the Schneebiest in place, this one just pierced through, the hole it left was so thin that it would probably not even be worth mentioned even if it went through an organ, but the necrotic effect was several times stronger, the area around the point of entry and exit quickly blackened, soon forming a much wider hole through the creature's body.

Still, the zombie was surprised, despite being pretty expressive about the pain it was experiencing, the bear-ape seemed to not be weakened at all by the injuries, neither was it empowered, it simply remained the same without fluctuation.

'Is it truly immortal? As in just not non-aging?' wondered Alkayne as the beast reached behind itself, demonstrating that the initial observation as it being somewhat like a monkey was accurate as it released itself into its palm and launched the distressingly large faeces directly as the minor lord.

'Huh…' rather than being worried or disgusted about it, he noticed something that was unusual about the dung, which was that it was clearly warm, the heat clearly visible as it entered into contact with the freezing air.

'Seems like I know one way it uses the heissblooms' with a flick of his halberd, he launched a powerful gust of frigid winds, freezing the steaming excrement in mid-air, leading to it falling in place before reaching its intended target.

The Schneebiest opened its mouth, as though offended by the act, all the while keeping itself moving in an attempt avoid yet another strike of lightning, but Alkayne wasn't planning on using that again just yet, instead letting his innate ability flow into the shallow water below, causing his fur-covered opponent to perform an involuntary dance as its feet were constantly shocked.

The zombie had been doing this for a little while, but had to adjust the strength a bit as the thick skin on the beast's feet and hand had allowed it to ignore the attack until now.

Holding his halberd with both hands, the minor lord rushed forward in that moment of inattention, speed heightening by the crackling arcs of necrotic lightning all over him, on his first strike, he severed the Schneebiest's left leg, forcing it to the ground where it had to endure the constant zapping with the entirety of its body instead.

Jumping on its back, Alkayne drove the spear-end of his weapon through the creature's spine, giving a good twist, the enemy's thrashing grew to a halt.

'Mmh… Its life force isn't that large to warrant so much resilience, did feeding on heissblooms cause it?' with another swing, he took the cave's guardian head right off.

He would have smiled if not the lack of lips as he felt the rush of experience coming to him.

"You can not fool an undead with such a parlour trick" stabbing through its heart as well, it certainly was difficult to play dead when your opponent could feel the very thing that made you alive, stabbing his halberd charged with necrotic lightning into the beast's body, he walked over to the decapitated head, it's eyes moving to meet his as the Schneebiest realised what was up.

But although somehow still alive, there was not much a head could do on its own, pulling out a black crystal needle, Alkayne pushed it through the living's forehead, all of its life force quickly turned into death force instead.

Recovering his halberd, the minor lord watched as the dismembered leg and head were pulled back into place, the damage inflicted by necrosis remained however, and more patches of it appeared over the beast's body, seemed like it wasn't turning into a simple undead.

Standing right back up, it was naturally confused for a few moments, but the grace of death granted upon it was soon understood, the Schneebiest rolling over on its back, showing its belly to Alkayne as a sign of submission.

"You should be capable of understanding the death tongue now, you are now one of the dead, I am Alkayne, a minor lord of our empire, I want you to just keep doing what you used to, don't bother with hunting down livings for now, alright?" it seemed to understand as it headed back for the cave.

The inside was rather spacious, and contrary to what the zombie had been imagining, instead of a singular or handful of them, dozens upon dozens of them were spread out all over the place, their stalks a regular green, their leaves a warm orange-red.

Collecting a few, one for the originally intended purpose, unfortunately, and the rest for research purposes, as a flower exuding and capable of granting warmth in a frozen realm was a rather curious thing.

'That damned nun is going to want to get down with it as quickly as possible, won't she?' at this point, Alkayne could only hope that word of what he was about to do would never leak out, no amount of logical and sensical explanation about it would allow him to escape the mockery of his peers.

His only consolation was that at least General Loimos wouldn't mind.

Moreover, Alkayne had his own code of honour that he would have to uphold after the act.

'Alright, here I come… How long has it even been since the last time I did something like that?'

Pretty much since he had died.
