Chapter 209: Chapter 209 – You Naughty Angel

Alex had already created the perfect opportunity for them, and since Nancy was still determined to become an agent, Salvatore could no longer bend the rules for her.

"Unfortunately, not," Alex refused instantly. Joanna forced a smile and did not push it further. Too much contact with her family would make Nancy emotional, driving her to lose focus on her assignments.

"I understand, but thank you for letting her take care of me."

At least she had new memories with her kid sister imprinted on her mind, even if it was during dangerous times.

"And Logan?" Grandpa finally asked. The doctor explained, "He’s in ICU, but you can see him from outside."

With the help of the doctors, they gathered at the ICU, seeing the man on the bed through a glass partition.

He was almost unrecognizable due to his injuries. "I’m just curious to know how it all happened," Grandpa said. Alex explained every cause of Logan’s injuries, beginning from the gunshot to the beatings, expecting the old man to be saddened, but he sighed.

"That serves him right. If he recovers, he would begin working as an officer."

Everyone laughed as they imagined Logan demoted to the position of an officer, but Alex spoke up.

"I hope that this time, his change would be permanent." Alex had tried so hard to put the family back together, hoping that Logan would not make him regret it.

Still, the fact that Logan saved his life in the end after turning against the dons and the news of Dion being alive was enough for him to have hope.

Due to the love and bond flying around, Alex and Joanna were discharged in a week. Grandpa, Violet, and Aiden stayed with them at the hospital through it all, but no one informed Monica, as they feared it might affect her mental health.

Aiden had helped Joan with the sponsorship of two children in Asia, and when Violet heard about it, she also sponsored one, though she wanted more, but that was all there were no more slots.

The joy of having people live because of one’s sponsorship urged them on. Sponsorship was not a problem because most of the people under the program sponsored it the moment they were out of it due to the benefits they enjoyed.

Arriving home, Alex would not allow Joan to do anything, though he missed her cooking. All he allowed her to do was to eat and rest, and whenever she tried to resist, he would remind her. "You are doing it for our triplets."

That was enough to calm Joanna whenever she wanted to be stubborn. "Do you ever think about names for them?" Joanna asked out of the blue, and Alex stiffened.

"I’m more concerned about their well-being and would make sure that nothing endangers you anymore."

Joanna pulled him to the bed and began to kiss him all over, but Alex pulled away when he realized what she was about to do. "We can’t. Perhaps in your second trimester."

Joanna pouted. "That’s not fair. I want you now," she insisted. Alex felt helpless. How could he deny her? Suddenly, a perfect idea came to mind.

Knowing how much Joanna cared for him, he capitalized on it. "Due to my back injury, I can do it for now, but in a few weeks, I would be perfect."

Unfortunately, Joanna had another plan. "Okay. Just lie down. I will climb on top," she revealed. Alex was speechless but decided to give her what she wanted.

"You naughty Angel."

Their lips met, their bodies colliding, as he slowly sent her to the heavens of pleasure. Joanna was exhausted by the time it was over, and they both slept like babies.

A few weeks later, Alex was completely healed, and Joanna was better. However, Alex insisted that she rest, leaving Aiden and Violet with her as he went to bring Dion.

Arriving there, Dion was out of control, making him upset. "Why didn’t you inform me that her condition had worsened?" He questioned the nannies.

"We tried to contact you but couldn’t. Later, Aiden said you were injured, so we didn’t tell him why we needed you to come."

"Dion, it’s me, Alex," Alex said to his sister, feeling that this was all due to his break in contact with her for so long. Dion was hallucinating as she pleaded desperately. "Don’t do this. Come on, I won’t leave you again. I’m taking you home."

The nannies were saddened because it meant their jobs had ended.

"Please stay with me. I’m scared," Dion was curling herself. Alex embraced her tightly.

"Don’t worry. This will all be over soon." He ensured the doctor sedated her before putting her on the jet to his house.

When Dion woke up on the flight, her condition was even worse. "The fire. Help, somebody help."

It seemed to Alex like the first time he reached her at the hospital. "How could you have become worse than before?"

At this point, he feared that even Dion’s meeting with Joan might not save her.

However, he decided not to sedate her anymore, finding ways of calming her throughout the rest of the journey. Joan was relaxing on the sofa when he arrived with Dion.

Violet sat beside her eating popcorn, but as soon as Dion saw Joan, she froze.

Joan rose from the chair and ambled towards her, her movements slow. "It’s you. We meet again."

Her arms wrapped around Dion, and instant memories filled Dion’s mind. The time that woman comforted her when she thought she was going to die and all her comforting words.

Joanna began to hum. "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." Dion joined her, as their voices blended.

"You never told me your name, and we couldn’t find you," she spoke with clarity of mind, tears welled up in Alex’s eyes. This was the first time Dion spoke in years without being childish.

Her demeanor and everything about her mirroring her life before changed completely as well.

"Before I could find you, somebody stabbed me, and I was admitted to another hospital, but I lost my memory for years," Joanna explained. Dion embraced her and turned to Alex. "You have to marry her, or you’ll never see me again."

Alex smiled and spoke softly to her. "I’m sorry for not showing you my wife’s picture, but that was because you were never interested in meeting her. Joan is my wife."

Dion felt guilty. All this while, she had mistaken another woman for Joan, forcing her brother to marry her. "I’m so sorry. I pressured you for nothing."

Alex approached her and embraced her. It felt good to have his sister in good mental health.

"It’s not your fault. You were being drugged, but everything is taken care of."

Dion was happy, not wanting to leave Joanna’s side as she confessed to her. "I hated him because I thought he married someone else."

"Perhaps we were destined to be because she’s the only woman I’ve loved," Alex smiled and said.

He never saw his sister in her right mind after that fire like he was seeing now, but he knew she had to catch up with the world, though she had been through the hands of private tutors.

"I have a surprise for you," Alex said. Dion could not imagine any surprise better than what she had now.

"What surprise?"

Grandpa walked through the door, tears slid down Dion’s cheeks as she hastened to the old man. "Grandpa."

She and the old man were in tears as they embraced each other. "Alex, you son of a bitch. Why didn’t you tell me she was still alive?"

It ached him how he moaned for his granddaughter for so long when she was clearly still alive.

"She had a mental disorder, so I didn’t want to add to your pain, but she’s better now after seeing her savior. Grandpa, that day, Joan was the one who saved Dion," he revealed. Grandpa was not surprised.

All along, he knew that Joanna was a very good girl. Good thing it was her and not any other woman.

"So, are you going to thank me now? You silly boy. You rejected meeting her when I made the arrangement."

Well, Alex could not shoulder the blame alone. "You said the daughter of the Bakers, so I thought you were referring to Mia," he shrugged. Everyone laughed as Grandpa chastised him further.

"Well, your foolishness is pardonable, but my granddaughter has to be with me. I have to pass my knowledge to her."

Dion was saddened. "I want to be with her?" she pointed at Joan, but grandpa revealed, "Joan has a high-risk pregnancy and needs a lot of rest. You should be with me."

"You are pregnant?" Dion asked Joan. The latter nodded. "Yes."

"Then that is good news." Dion was dancing excitedly. Alex, Violet, and even Aiden were shedding joyful tears.

"Finally, there is joy in this family again," Aiden said. Grandpa shook his head.

"Who told you that? We are going to have the biggest welcome party for my granddaughter, and you all have to be there. The extended family would see why I was right in choosing Alex as the heir."

"Grandpa, where is Logan?" Dion finally asked. Everyone was saddened, and Alex didn’t know whether to hide or tell the truth to her.
