Chapter 166: Chapter 166 – Yes, I love her, so please help me find her
The sleep cleared from Alex’s face as if it had never been there before as he looked to his left and right for the woman he had spent the night with. freewēbnoveℓ.com
She was still his wife since the divorce was not finalized, but Grandpa’s words pricked him hard.
"Grandpa, what are you talking about?" Alex asked worriedly. The old man responded casually,
"Logan sent me a message, telling me that the marriage was indeed fake because you divorced Adelaide. I already knew it was faked, but I thought you would come to your senses to truly make her your wife."
Alex had been searching for Logan for some time now, but this showed that the fool was still spying on him and also still had eyes on his wife.
"How could he know about that? We signed the papers, but I changed my mind, and besides, it’s not official," he answered on the phone before racking his mind.
Could Logan have hacked Joanna’s phone? Alex knew the only person Joanna would tell was either Violet, and he had either of their contact numbers.
He must have been intercepting their phone conversations.
He looked around and seeing the signed divorce agreement with Joanna’s ring, his heart sank. Joanna had not heard him last night; if not, she would not have done this.
He checked his finger, and the ring she had given him was gone. But there was a note. ’I’m sorry, Alex, but it’s better for you to keep your ring. Thanks for last night, and I promise to never bother you again.’
Alex felt something warm sliding down his cheeks. Was he shedding tears? It was confirmed that Joanna had not heard the things he said last night, which was why she still left.
She loved him and would not have left if she heard him. "Alex, I promised to not interfere, but I think your kid brother has to go before he causes any harm," Grandpa said bitterly. Alex agreed because they were both on the same page.
"I was thinking the same thing since I escaped the fire. He almost killed all of us, including Joan."
"I will leave the rest to you since you are still in your right mind," Grandpa said with mixed feelings. He knew that Alex loved Joan, but the fact that they were separated disturbed him.
After ending the call, Alex summoned the domestic workers. "Where is madam?" He didn’t even care that he was just in his boxers, being the first time, he appeared in front of them like that.
All he needed was a trace of where she could be to know where to begin his search for her.
’Joan, why didn’t you wait for me to wake up? I would have clarified everything,’ he kept saying to himself, regret seething in his blood.
He always knew he liked her but never thought he would love her this much. Waking up without that Angel by his side was heartbreaking, making him wonder how he had been away from her.
The young maids were secretly drooling over his physique, but Betty was concerned about where all this was going.
"Sir, you had us pack her things last night. She left with Jack," she explained, at the same time Jack walked through the entrance door, awed to see his boss in just his boxers approaching him with a disgruntled expression.
"Jack, where is she?"
Jack feared a little but remembered that last night when he arrived with madam, Ike informed him about the divorce, instructing him to take Madam wherever she wanted.
If things go wrong, then Ike would be the one to be blamed. "She left with Violet. They had me drop them at the airport," he explained in a panic voice. Alex bit his lower lip and demanded.
"I need their flight information."
Jack was confused because he wasn’t allowed to snoop around the madam’s business unless he was instructed to do so. "I’m sorry, but I didn’t get it."
Alex couldn’t blame them. All instructions had been pre-arranged by him because he had no idea how difficult it would be to live without Joanna since he was used to living alone before.
He tried to track Joanna’s phone but kept losing the signal after a short time, so he called Aiden on the phone. "Aiden, help me track my wife."
As soon as he ended the call, he dialed Dario’s number. "Track my wife. I want to know where she is."
Good thing Dario knew his identity as he did not even have time to disguise the voice. He ran back upstairs to put on some clothes, and just like that, he left the house with Alex, going first to Joanna’s mom and realizing the middle-aged woman had no idea her daughter had left.
"Alex, how are you today? Do you want me to cook for you? Why didn’t you come with Joan?"
Alex forced a smile, not wanting to scare her. "Monica, I just came to see that you are fine. I’m leaving now."
Monica wished he would stay longer, but then again, these young folks had lots of work to do, so she did not stop him.
As Ike drove aimlessly through the city, Alex’s phone rang. It was Aiden. "Alex, she can’t be tracked. What happened? It’s the same with Violet."
The information gave Alex hope. The fact that Violet was with Joanna relieved him slightly of his fears.
"You have to keep trying. I was a jerk and told her I wanted a divorce, but I regretted, except it was too late. She left before I woke up."
"Did you...have sex with her?" Aiden asked teasingly. Alex’s teeth gritted together. "Does it matter?"
The answer was a confirmation of what Aiden wanted to hear. "So, you admit it now? You are in love with her?"
Guilt welled up in Alex’s heart for not admitting it all this while. "Yes, I love her, so please help me find her."
Aiden smiled at the end of the line. "Don’t worry. For as long as she remains on planet earth, we shall find her."
Alex had hope, but as they continued the search, a month passed, and he was in a club with Aiden, drinking his sorrows away.
Due to the news, Aiden returned to be by his side, and every day, Alex would insist they go to the club whenever their searches proved unsuccessful.
He had lost a lot of weight, leaving the management of the company in the hands of Edmund.
"Alex, please have faith. We will find her," Aiden assured him as he signaled the waiters to return the untouched bottles of alcohol, but before their hand reached it, Alex took it from there.
"Don’t touch it," he slurred, about to gulp it down when his phone rang.
Ever since Joanna’s disappearance, his phone lines had always been active, and he had tried his best to keep it from Monica and the media.
Looking at the caller ID, it was a strange number. A grimace squeezed his face before he answered the call. "What?"
A familiar female voice sounded at the end of the line. "Alex, it’s me, Violet. I’m at a Miami jail, but you have to help Joan."
