OMG!!! My Crippled Husband is a Hot, Powerful CEO-Chapter 163 - I Want to Know Everything
Chapter 163: Chapter 163 - I Want to Know Everything
’Fuck you, Alex, I hope you die in the fire, but even if you survive, you will never find me.’
The paper shrank in Alex’s fingers as he balled them around the note. Fury burned inside him, and Alex was certain that if he had found Logan, he would not have shown mercy this time.
His brotherly love and mercy as the head of the family ran out the moment Logan put not only his life but also Joanna’s at risk.
If Alex had delayed even a bit, so many lives would have been lost because of what? One person thinking he deserves everything?
"He escaped?" Aiden remarked, having read the note before Alex crumpled it. The latter frowned deeply.
"I’m going to hunt him down for all the lives he put at risk, and Don Lucas’s family must pay too."
"Let me handle it. You have a family. Go take care of your wife," Aiden implored, but Alex shook his head.
This was enough reason for him to let Joanna go and never think of getting married again, not even to please Dion.
For the safety of his loved ones, staying single would be the best thing to do because Joanna would continuously be endangered if they continued living together.
Instantly, he wanted to know Joanna’s whereabouts and checked his pockets for his phone, not finding it. "I think I lost my phone. Can you reach Joan?" he asked Aiden, the latter chuckled.
"You never gave me her number, but don’t worry. I’d rather break my principle and call Violet."
He was not a fool to not piece together the reason Alex never gave him Joanna’s number. He could get it if he wanted, but all along, he knew how possessive his best friend was.
As such, his wife was out of reach even to his best friend. Paid bodyguards were exceptions because their relationships were always professional.
Aiden dialed Violet’s number, and she answered surprisingly on the first ring. "Aiden?"
"Violet, where are you?" Aiden asked, holding back from checking specifically on her. Yet, Violet broke down at the sound of his voice, thinking he was calling because of the fire.
With the news having spread out, Violet knew that Aiden was already aware of it.
"Alex, he died in the fire, and we are still there."
Guilt surged through Aiden for not checking on Joanna earlier, having forgotten that Joanna was just as much in love with Alex as Alex was with her, though Alex never admitted it, actions spoke louder than words.
"Get Joan home and don’t tell anyone, but Alex is fine," Aiden said directly. There was so much he wanted to tell her, but the lines had been drawn, and nothing could ever happen between them.
Violet was about to respond when the call ended. Sorrow filled her heart, but Joanna’s excitement upon hearing the news resonated her joy.
"I need to go home then," Alex said seriously after Aiden ended the call, adding, "But I want to know everything about Don Lucas’s family and any traces of Logan. One bad nut must be removed to keep the others safe."
Alex was no longer going to show mercy if he found Logan. It was time for the idiot to face the deserved consequences of his actions.
"Just like your father?" Aiden asked. Alex stiffened but felt no guilt for eliminating his father. Similarly, he would not feel guilty for eliminating his brother.
"Yeah, just like him."
By the time Alex reached home, Joanna was there, and the way she embraced him caused something to awaken inside him.
Her words before he left, expressing how much she loved him, flooded his mind. But with Logan still in the shadows, it was better to divorce and even announce it to keep her safe.
For as long as there was no connection between them, she would never be a target for the enemy.
"Alex, I thought I lost you," Joanna embraced Alex affectionately, and pulling away, she kissed him on the lips with the help of her high heels.
Alex was taller and afraid he might not kiss her back because of having been so long with the woman he wanted to marry. Joanna did not want to miss the opportunity but was filled with warmth when Alex returned her kisses with the same enthusiasm as hers.
He missed her, and for a moment, he feared losing her when he saw the gun pointed at her.
"You can’t get rid of me easily," Alex chuckled after pulling away from the kiss. Violet was slightly disappointed to not have seen Aiden. Nevertheless, she couldn’t ask about him.
"I knew you’ll make it, Alex. Thank God you are back," she exclaimed. Alex smiled at her and patted her on the shoulder before he and Joanna went upstairs.
Violet already had a room in their mansion and rested there for the night.
For the remaining days, Joanna spent a few days at the hospital with her father, and Mia was transferred to join him after the surgery to make it easier for Joanna to see them whenever she wanted. But throughout Cole and Mia’s stay at the hospital, Rene never showed up.
Monica visited once, but that was it. After the father and daughter were discharged, Alex gave them a small house with security as compensation for being caught in the feud between him and his brother, though he didn’t tell them the reason.
Things stabilized, but Alex felt the need to reach Logan first before he strikes again. Dario and Aiden tracked down Don Lucas’s family and eliminated all of them, and as Joan got home from work, an unexpected surprise awaited her.
"Alex, what’s going on?" She asked, shivering slightly because of the candlelit dinner. Was Alex reconsidering the divorce? It was exactly six months after they got married anyway.
Joanna had mixed feelings, especially when Alex’s expression was sorrowful, in contrast to the amazing candlelit dinner he arranged for them. His words confirmed his exact intentions.
