New World with Four Husbands-Chapter 147: Missing mama
Chapter 147: Missing mama
"Time to eat, Coco!" Jacques called out from the kitchen, her voice booming across the hall and startling her.
"We’ll get back to my question later." Coco said to Kairo before she stood up from her seat, stretching her limbs and making her way to the kitchen. freёweɓnovel.com
She was immediately greeted by the delicious smell of the dish Jacques cooked mixed with the scent of rice, garlic, bread, and butter— all mixing together which creates a drool worthy smell.
"What are we having? It smells delicious." Coco asked, walking over to a vacant seat and pulling the chair before sitting down, "The smell is making my mouth water."
"Are you that hungry?" Jacques questioned with a teasing tone, "It’s just garlic bread, pasta, and fried tough crocodile meat."
"What a feast." Coco hummed out and looked at the dishes on the table.
"The two of you can start, I’ll go call for Rey and Kairo." Renaldo stated and placed a kiss on Jacques’ forehead before he walked out of the kitchen.
"What a lovely omega." Coco mumbled, smiling softly at how relaxed the couple seem to be in each other’s company.
"Omega?" Jacques tilted her head as she placed a plate down on the table, "You know, you’ve been saying words that I’m not familiar with ever since we met. Would you mind educating me about them? They sound interesting."
Coco didn’t respond right away and instead, reached out for the garlic bread.
She picked up four slices and placed them on her plate, then she reached out for the pasta, she poured some on her plate and placed it back down on the table.
"To be honest, some of the words I say aren’t good." Coco bellowed towards Jacques, picking up a fork and stabbing a piece of crocodile’s meat off the bowl, then placing it on her plate.
"Not good?" Jacques questioned with a raise of her eyebrow, taking a seat in front of Coco.
"Yep, but omega is a good word." Coco assured her friend and smiled, "It refers to someone who’s lovely, amazing, and needs to be protected due to how adorable and cute they are— just like your husband and mine."
"Ohh.." Jacques trailed off, her lips forming a circle as the information sinks into her brain, "So, in short, you’re referring to mediators?"
Coco beamed at Jacques and clapped her hands. "How smart of you! That’s exactly what I was saying."
"I see." Jacques smiled back and looked relieved, "So, my husband is an omega? I know that he has always been one, it’s the reason why I married him after all."
"Yes, yes, Renaldo is an omega." Coco nodded her head in approval, agreeing with Jacques’ statement.
"What a fun word." Jacques giggled and shook her head.
"What’s a fun word?" Renaldo’s voice made Coco and Jacques snap their heads to the doorway, the two of them having a startled expression on their faces as they stared at the man with wide eyes.
"What?" Renaldo’s eyebrows furrowed as he made his way beside his wife, "You two looked like you saw a ghost or something."
"We didn’t, but we got scared!" Jacques hissed and smacked Renaldo’s thigh, making him flinch in his seat.
The married couple got themselves into a playful banter as Rey and Kairo walked through the doorway, catching Coco’s attention almost immediately.
"Good morning, Rey." Coco greeted the teenager, "How was your sleep?"
"It was good.. I’m still sleepy." The blue eyes of the mediator was clouded with sleep as he trudged his way towards Coco, he pulled back the chair beside her and took a seat, slumping on the seat.
"Just eat some, then go back to sleep." Jacques told Rey, "I couldn’t wake you up earlier, you looked like you were having a good dream."
"It’s okay." The boy assured her with a small smile, "I can go back to sleep after this."
"That’s right." Jacques smiled back and nodded her head, "Now that all of us are here, let’s start eating so Coco can get back to the inn before it gets too late."
"It’s fine." Coco said, picking up her fork and started eating her pasta.
The pasta was the typical homemade pasta, but it tasted good with the red sauce that tasted sour yet sweet at the same time, the taste only got even more delicious for Coco when she took a bite from the garlic bread.
Coco swears that she could pass out right then and there, the pasta that Jacques made tasted similar to her mother’s spaghetti.
She couldn’t help, but smile sadly as she ate.
Whenever Mama Coison makes spaghetti, Coco would be the first one to go to the dining table to get herself a plate full of pasta.
She loves her mother’s spaghetti so much that sometimes, when she feels under the weather, Mama Coison’s spaghetti and a hot drink is all it takes to cheer herself up.
Having a taste of Jacques’ pasta made her remember her mother’s loving way of cheering her up.
I miss mama. Coco thought, the words repeating over and over again in the back of her mind as she grew quiet, her body going on autopilot and eating all the food she placed on her plate.
Was it selfish of her to wish that her mother was there with her? Comforting her with a hug?
Mama would be so excited to cook me spaghetti. Coco mused in her mind, her grip on her fork tightening ever so slightly.
It was weird.
She could go on a day without thinking about them, but a simple dish like Jacques’ is enough to make her remember her mother and her sisters.
Somehow.. I feel a little empty.
Coco continued to eat, completely forgetting at the fact that she wasn’t eating alone and had gone silent.
Jacques and Renaldo could only stare at their friend in worry, the distant look in Coco’s eyes was unusual and how her body moved stiffly was concerning.
