Ding!

[ Side Quest {2} done! Receiving rewards....]

[ Preparing the Beginner’s Boots, please wait a moment...]

Coco perked up when the familiar scroll popped up before her and opened itself, announcing that she had finished her side quest.

"Are you going out now, Coco?" Joachim asked, grabbing the bag from the desk and hugging it close to his chest, smiling softly at her as he waited for her response.

"Yes, I’m about to." Coco hummed out, slipping her hand inside of her robe and taking a smaller bag that she slipped into the pocket, "I have to give something to Ruby first though."

The woman in question blinked and pointed at herself. "Pardon?"

"Here." Coco said as she brought her hand out and handed the small bag to Ruby, "Thank you for your patience and putting up with my ass every day and night. I know that it’s your job, but I do know that it gets overstimulating to deal with people all the time."

Ruby’s jaw dropped slightly as she accepted the bag.

"Well, I’m done here." Coco smiled and turned around, "Please tell Mrs. Tani that I may come back late today, I have important matters to attend to."

"Okay." Joachim agreed without hesitation, but he gasped when he realized that he had not given Coco her usual packed breakfast and lunch, "Coco, wait— Coco! Your breakfast and lunch! Don’t forget them!"

Coco stopped in her tracks and turned her head to look at Joachim, just in time for him to disappear behind the staff room’s door.

Not a moment after, Joachim came rushing out of the room with a bag and worried expression on his face.

"Coco! Did Coco leave already— there you are!" Joachim brightened up when he saw her standing by the front door and was waiting for him, "Here! En packed extra ribs for you! He hoped that you would enjoy this one just like others!"

"En?" Coco inquired while accepting the bag and slinging it over her head, letting it rest over to the straps of the basket.

"That’s the name of our head chef." Joachim told her and gave the basket a pat, "He was pleased to see you enjoy the meal he cooks every night, knowing that you were the one who hunted the fresh meat he cooks."

What the fuck? Coco cussed in her mind as she kept a friendly smile on her face. Why is everyone acting so cute? En is a big and scary guy, but knowing that he appreciates it when I enjoy it is adorable?

"Ah, please tell him how I appreciate his cooking." Coco stated and rubbed the back of her neck, "Everything he cooks tastes good."

Joachim chuckled and nodded his head. "I’ll let him know."

"Thank you." Coco did not hesitate to express her gratitude and lowered her head for a quick second, "I’ll be going now. Have a good day, Mr. Tani."

"You, too." Joachim returned the gesture and watched her walk out of the inn.

Coco let out a satisfied hum as she stepped outside of the Red Horse Inn, the morning breeze kissing her skin and making goosebumps rise in her arms.

"That went well." The garden fairy spoke after being quiet for almost an hour, "I was expecting him to not accept your apology and make it difficult for you to ask for forgiveness.. I was ready to infiltrate his home and grow cactuses around their house."

"You didn’t have to do that." Coco chuckled out nervously, her eyes scanning the street which was littered with a couple people who had obviously just got off the bed.

"I don’t have to, but I’m willing to do it if he doesn’t accept your apology." Lala said with a huff.

"Haha.. I’m so glad that you’re my friend and know how to hold back then." Coco laughed under her breath as she made her way to Jacques’ and Renaldo’s house.

"Aww!" Lala exclaimed, her body slumping on Coco’s cheek as if she was melting.

Coco felt like Lala misunderstood what she meant, but didn’t bother correcting the fairy’s understatement and proceeded to approach the house of her friends, her footsteps getting faster as she got near.

Knock.

Knock.

Knock.

Coco knocked on the door several times and didn’t stop doing so until she heard footsteps from the other side of the door.

The door swung open, revealing a glaring and upset Renaldo who was ready to tap down whoever’s knocking on their door at an ungodly hour.

"Coco?" Renaldo called out, his eyebrows furrowing in confusion as his shoulders sagged forward.

"Good morning!" Coco greeted him with her usual enthusiasm, "I’m sorry to bother you this early, but can you wake up Jacques right now and ask her if she wants to hang out with me for today? Oh, and of course, you’re included in the hang out."

Renaldo blinked.

It was clear as day that sleep is still in his system and making his brain process information slower than usual.

"Huh? Oh.. Okay, alright." Renaldo answered after staring at her for a good few minutes and opened the door wider, "Get inside while I’m waking her up though. I don’t think my wife would appreciate it if she knew that I left you out here."

"It’s okay! I’m completely fine waiting for the two of you here— woah!" Coco couldn’t finish what she was saying because Renaldo suddenly grabbed her arm and pulled her inside the house, cutting her off.

"You’re fine with it, but my wife wouldn’t be." Renaldo grumbled and slammed the door shut, "Make yourself at home. There’s a left over bread at the oven and a jar of coffee by the counter, make yourself a cup if you want. Waking her up takes a while."

"Haha.. Thank you." Coco laughed nervously and watched as Renaldo trudge his way to the staircase.

"Well.. He said to make myself feel at home." Coco hummed before rushing inside the kitchen.

"Yay! Coffee!" Lala cheered.
