Mythical Era: My Evolution into a Celestial Beast-Chapter 750: The Man Who Slaughtered Millions (III)
Chapter 750: The Man Who Slaughtered Millions (III)
As they looked at the humans in the arena, the Purgatory nobles seated around began discussing among themselves, some curious, others sneering or mocking, and a few showing doubt.
To these nobles, all of whom were at least at the Seventh Demonic Mark, these humans were pitifully weak, with unstable auras and fragile minds.
On the battlefield, any true demon could effortlessly take on a hundred of them, cutting down human cultivators of equal rank like slaughtering livestock. To the demons, it was a mystery how such a fragile race had managed to defend against the empire’s attacks for so long.
Just then, the black gates on the far side of the arena slowly opened. A towering figure, fifteen meters tall, stepped into view. It wore battered bronze armor and wielded a massive spiked club.
The Ironblood Warrior of the Krodo Tribe had a terrifying presence, radiating the aura of a being in the late stage of the Seventh Heavenly Realm. Its body reeked of blood, the stench of countless lives it had already slaughtered.
"I'm betting on the Krodo Tribe to win. Crush those humans into pulp!"
"I want to see those humans torn apart one by one!"
"Kill them all! Kuwala, put me down for a hundred demon coins on the humans!"
"Uh... Weren't you just cheering for the Ironblood to kill them all? Why bet on them to win?"
"There's not much profit in ten to one odds, but what if these humans pull off an upset? After all, they've been fighting our kind on the front lines for so long."
Suddenly, a Ninth Demonic Mark demon stood up and shouted, "Ironblood Warrior! If you can smash every single one of those humans' heads, then I will buy you!"
Hearing this, the alien's eyes turned bloodshot, and with a furious roar, it blasted forward like a cannonball, charging toward the humans over a thousand meters away.
The sheer intensity of its aura made every human's expression change. The leading Seventh Heavenly Realm cultivator shouted, "Be careful! I'll stop it!"
A surge of true power burst from his body, channeling transcendent energy to manifest a towering fifteen-meter True Martial Phantom behind him. The phantom stood with both hands gripping a sword, radiating an imposing presence.
Boom!
The massive, spiked club, wreathed in blood-red light, came crashing down. The True Martial Phantom shattered instantly, and the already-exhausted Seventh Heavenly Realm warrior was blasted backward, coughing up blood as he flew through the air.
"Kill!" In that instant, two blinding sword lights shot out from both sides of the alien, swift and razor-sharp, carrying the aura of the Sixth Heavenly Realm as they slashed toward the alien's legs.
Sparks exploded as the sword lights left two deep grooves in the alien's armor, but failed to break through.
Boom!
The alien swung its spiked club in a wide arc at near supersonic speed. The sheer force of the strike created a sonic boom, instantly tearing two humans apart and reducing them to a mist of blood.
Under such overwhelming power, their true power defenses shattered in an instant.
"Kill! Wipe out those humans!"
"Hahaha... Yes! Smash them to pieces!"
Against the Krodo Tribe, who possessed immense strength, high speed, and a far superior cultivation level, the humans were slaughtered one by one. The alien's relentless attacks dyed the ground red with their blood.
The sight of the massacre sent the surrounding Purgatory nobles into a cheering frenzy.
Demon King Clore, sitting on his throne, watched the spectacle below with a hint of surprise. "Moss, these human slaves are quite valuable. Why waste them like this?"
Demon King Moss shook his head. "These humans come from the Alliance of Gods and don’t know anything about technology. Other than possessing some strength, they're completely useless."
"From the Alliance of Gods? Moss, you've been tricked." Clore smirked.
Moss' gaze instantly turned cold. "Those damned slave traders! How dare they deceive me? The next time they come to my territory, I'll make them cough up every last bit of what they owe!"
In the rear territories of the Purgatory Clan, humans commanded a high price. The Purgatory demon kings were particularly eager for the advanced technology and vast knowledge humanity possessed.
It wasn't just humans; any civilization that had clashed with the Purgatory Clan and demonstrated great power became a subject of their research.
This was one of the reasons the Purgatory Clan had stood strong in the mythical world for so many years. They constantly absorbed the strengths of various races and evolved their bloodlines with them.
Suddenly, Clore lowered his voice. "Moss, I actually came here regarding His Highness Alekriel. He has fallen."
Moss was stunned. "What? His Highness has actually fallen?"
"That's right. The news came from the front lines. Lord Deorus sensed it through the bloodline connection, and I was specifically ordered to investigate the situation."
"Well, I don't know much about it either," Moss replied after some thought. "At dusk, His Highness Alekriel came here with a group of Death Priests. After a short stay, he ventured deep into the Dark Forest.
"It seemed he discovered traces of an alien civilization in a forbidden zone and planned to use them as a blood sacrifice to break through to the great demon king level. As for where that alien civilization was located, or which forbidden zone it was in, I have no idea. I had no right to inquire, nor would I dare to."
Alkeriel's strength was far superior than Moss'. He was only a late-stage demon king, while Alekriel was a peak demon king with a noble status and strength comparable to a great demon king.
Clore immediately furrowed his brows, his expression growing heavy. How was he supposed to investigate this? "Moss, did any of those Death Priests return?"
"No, it seems they all perished in that forbidden zone," Moss replied.
Within the Purgatory Clan, only those with demon god bloodlines, or exceptionally talented demon kings acknowledged by the Abyss, were granted the right to harness the Abyssal Force and use blood sacrifices to enhance their power.
Each of these demon kings were incredibly powerful, yet one had perished without a sound. This could only mean that the forbidden zone was extraordinarily dangerous, and it was located alarmingly close to Moss' territory.
Such was the nature of this vast world—boundless, enigmatic, and filled with danger. Even a demon king whose strength rivaled that of a great demon king could fall without warning.
"This is going to be troublesome." Clore rubbed his forehead. If he couldn't uncover any useful information, he would have a hard time explaining himself to Demon God Deorus.
Moss shook his head. "I'm glad I didn't follow you into the Imperial Guard. Life is much easier ruling my own territory than being tied down in the Capital.
"I've already prepared 150,000 sets of gilded battle armor, an elite demon army, and enough supplies to sustain an army of 500,000 vassal troops for 20 day-cycles of warfare. Now, I only await His Majesty’s orders. Once they come, I'll lead my army to the front lines."
As he spoke, Moss' expression darkened. "But Clore... is the situation at the front really this dire? His Majesty is actually preparing to launch an extinction war?"
Starting an extinction war was no trivial affair. Each demon king was required to lead their elite legions, mobilize their vassal armies, and handle all logistics. This included food, natural treasures for rapid healing, resources to restore strength and vitality, and enough supplies to sustain prolonged combat.
An extinction war was a high-risk gamble for the empire. If they failed to annihilate the enemy quickly after deploying the majority of their forces, their rear lines would be left exposed, opening the door to unrest and potential collapse.
Without demon kings or great demon kings to oversee the empire’s territories, the vassal races under the empire’s rule could start stirring.
Furthermore, the survivors of annihilated alien civilizations, particularly the mythical-level warriors who had managed to escape, could band together and strike back. Then there were the horrors lurking deep in the forbidden zones, suppressed or sealed away by the great demon kings...
Clore slowly said, "The situation at the front lines is indeed quite grave..."
Just then, a streak of black light flashed across the sky, followed by a thunderous shout that echoed through the heavens. "A powerful enemy is attacking! Activate the Dark Formation immediately!"
Boom!
The entire city shook as the demonic runes carved into the outer walls began to glow, resonating with various buildings. From the four military camps surrounding the city, massive black demonic pillars, each a thousand meters wide, shot up into the sky.
Dark clouds gathered, churning with demonic qi. A black curtain of light descended, covering over a hundred kilometers and forming a powerful restrictive barrier.
The sudden upheaval rippled through the city. Figures cloaked in demonic qi soared into the sky, swiftly taking up positions across key locations. Their movements were precise and disciplined, maintaining flawless order.
Seated high upon his throne, Moss narrowed his eyes, his expression turning icy. "What’s going on?"
The black light descended in front of Moss, revealing a late-stage Ninth Demonic Mark true demon kneeling on one knee. A flicker of fear lingered in his eyes.
"Reporting to the Demon King: a mythical-level alien powerhouse is approaching. This entity has already destroyed eleven of our city outposts and annihilated all stationed true demons and aliens. It is now moving swiftly toward the city.
"From what I could see with my Demonic Eyes, the alien is at the middle stage of the mythical level, but its strength is overwhelming. It commands a Blood Sea Slaughter-type law domain, though the extent of its other abilities remains unclear."
Clore’s gaze was cold. "It must be a mythical-level alien from a race we destroyed, now returning for vengeance after a breakthrough."
Moss sneered. "How foolish. Does it really believe that reaching the mythical level is enough to challenge our race? Enough to challenge me when I've just advanced into a late-stage demon king?
"Once I kill this mythical alien, I’ll hang its corpse at the entrance of the city, so all alien races learn the consequences of defying us! Bring me my weapon!"
"As you command!"
Once they learned the invading alien’s power level, both Moss and Clore, who were late-stage demon kings, gave it little thought.
As Purgatory true demons, even if they were at the beginning stage of the mythical level, they could easily overpower aliens at the middle stage.
Moments later, two fifty-meter-tall aliens appeared, struggling to carry a hundred-meter-long black spear.
Boom!
As Moss gripped the spear, a malevolent aura burst forth from his body. A torrent of demonic qi surged upward, fusing with the roiling clouds above and casting the entire sky into darkness.
"King Moss is invincible!"
"To challenge our kind is to seek death!"
