Chapter 129: let’s take them out!

"The scent of a Devil?"

"Are you serious?"

Ethan’s expression shifted slightly as he asked, "Seraphina, is it just a unit or a hero?"

"It feels weak... probably just a unit," Seraphina replied.

"That’s a relief..." Ethan exhaled, his eyes flickering with thought. "In that case, let’s just observe for now."

"What’s wrong, Ethan?" Emily asked, noticing his unease.

"Seraphina sensed someone watching us."

"Who?"

"A Devil from Inferno. But just a regular unit, not a hero."

"That’s not too bad... So what should I do?"

"Stay put and watch. Remember what I told you about the faction wars? The fact that an Inferno Devil suddenly shows up at a time like this... I have a feeling it’s connected."

Emily sucked in a breath. "You mean... they’re preparing for a full-scale invasion of the main world?"

"It’s very possible."

...

While Ethan and Emily whispered among themselves, deep within the canyon, a pair of crimson, frenzied, and malevolent eyes locked onto them from the shadows.

Moments later, the figure flickered—then vanished into thin air.

Teleportation.

A signature ability of Inferno’s Legendary Units—instantaneous movement.

...

Meanwhile, deep within Molten Gold Gorge, the air was thick with smoke and sulfur. Rivers of molten lava surged through the cracked earth, radiating an unbearable heat that sent waves of steam hissing into the sky.

The ground was littered with fresh bones, still carrying the lingering essence of life recently extinguished.

Towering figures moved among the carnage—One-Horned Demons, Inferno’s Tier-7 units. They hauled the remains together, tossing them into a massive pit.

Gurgle... gurgle...

The pit was filled to the brim with boiling blood.

Bubbles of searing heat burst on the surface, each pop distorting the very fabric of space itself.

And within this gruesome ritual, something was taking shape—a colossal white gate, shimmering with spatial energy, slowly materializing in the sky.

It was massive.

...

"Hiss... hiss... hiss..."

Perched atop a nearby peak, an Efreet loomed over the scene, its gaze cold and unyielding.

Waves of hellish fire rolled off its body, its sheer presence exuding overwhelming power.

Its eyes gleamed with a sinister light—chaotic, bloodthirsty, and utterly wicked.

The flames around it churned violently, scorching the very ground beneath its feet. The earth blackened, then melted, turning soft and unstable under the sheer intensity of its heat.

Behind the towering Efreet, twelve Tier-12 Royal Units of the Inferno faction—Efreet Sultans—stood with their arms crossed, their expressions just as cold and merciless as their lord. Like him, they radiated an aura of bloodlust, cruelty, and eerie detachment.

Beyond them, another thirty Tier-11 Royal Units—Efreet—stood in formation, their presence just as menacing.

Tier-11 Efreet. Tier-12 Efreet Sultans.

These beings were summoned directly from the Infernal Flames of Inferno, making them completely immune to all fire-based magic.

As standard Royal Units of the Inferno faction, both the Tier-11 Efreet and the Tier-12 Efreet Sultans were among the most formidable and terrifying entities in existence.

Among all factional Royal Units, their power ranked near the top.

...

Whoosh!

At that moment, space rippled, and a Legendary Unit—an Inferno Devil—materialized.

The creature gave a slight bow toward the massive Efreet before speaking in a calm, detached tone.

"Lord Malphas, we’ve detected traces of Unicorn Duchy forces outside."

"The same ones from before?"

The colossal Efreet, known as Malphas, was no ordinary being. He was a direct subordinate of the Infernal Overlord Baelthar, ruling over the Sixth Layer of Inferno.

More importantly, he was an Orange-tier Legendary Tier-11 Efreet Hero.

As one of Baelthar’s earliest followers, Malphas was an exceptionally powerful Infernal Lord.

His level had already surpassed seventy—far beyond that of Balzareth, the Infernal Lord who had previously fallen at Ethan’s hands.

Because of his immense strength, Malphas had been entrusted with a critical role in the upcoming Faction War—leading the assault, destruction, and plundering of this region of Unicorn Duchy.

And the massive, shimmering void gate above the blood pit?

That was the nascent form of a Hell Gate.

...

Due to the laws of the world, the main world of Glory Lords X possessed an incredibly powerful dimensional framework.

For the Infernal faction to invade freely, they needed to construct Hell Gates—otherwise, they would be suppressed and weakened by the world’s natural forces.

And the core materials required to build a Hell Gate?

A vast quantity of rare resources—

Along with the blood, bones, corpses, and souls of native creatures from the main world.

Only the essence of native lifeforms contained traces of the main world’s dimensional laws.

By using these materials as a foundation, the Hell Gate could serve as a stable foothold—a gateway for Infernal forces to enter and operate without restriction.

Without it, as invaders, they would be severely weakened by the world’s natural defenses, unable to unleash their full power.

This principle applied to all factions attempting to invade other planes—the process was always the same.

The only exception was the Dungeon faction.

Because the Underground World and the Main World were actually part of the same plane, Dungeon forces didn’t need to cross dimensions to invade.

They simply had to emerge from underground.

...

The Inferno Devil continued, its voice steady.

"This time, there are far more of them than before. And they’re all unit heroes. There’s even a Paladin—but he’s young and weak."

"A Paladin, huh?"

A cruel glint flashed across Malphas’s face as he let out a sinister laugh. "Followers of the Holy Dragon Elrath... always so damn irritating! The Hell Gate is almost complete. In that case, let’s christen it with that Paladin’s blood!"

"Korrak."

"At your command!" A massive, towering figure stepped forward—an 8th-Tier Two-Horned Demon King, radiating an aura of sheer, terrifying power. This wasn’t just any ordinary unit. No, this was a Hero-class warrior.

"Lure them in."

"As you wish, Lord Malphas."

The Two-Horned Demon King Hero, Korrak, let out a wicked grin before turning and vanishing into the shadows.

At the same time, Malphas and his followers sneered before their bodies flickered and dissolved into streams of fire, slipping into the molten lava that flowed across the battlefield.

Elemental Assimilation.

This was one of the most formidable and versatile innate abilities of elemental creatures. As long as they could find an element that resonated with their nature, they could seamlessly merge into it, making them nearly impossible to detect. For their enemies, this was a terrifying and deadly advantage.

...

Not long after, Griffith, a 6th-Tier Royal Griffin Hero, who had been cautiously patrolling the area, sent back a report.

"General Helena, Count Valkarion, I’ve spotted a large number of 7th-Tier One-Horned Demons and 8th-Tier Two-Horned Demon Kings!"

"Additionally, I’ve detected the presence of an Inferno Hero!"

As the chosen leader personally trained by Grand Duke Theodore, Helena naturally held the rank of General.

"7th-Tier One-Horned Demons... 8th-Tier Two-Horned Demon Kings...?"

"An Inferno Hero?!"

Helena’s expression darkened. Without hesitation, she commanded, "We pursue them! We can’t let these filthy creatures defile our world!"

Clearly, despite the emotional turmoil she had experienced because of Ethan, her Paladin faith and convictions remained deeply ingrained.

She wasn’t going to change so easily.

And because of that, the moment she sensed the presence of the forces of darkness, there was only one course of action—eradicate them. No matter what.

"But..." Gideon hesitated, as if wanting to object.

But Helena didn’t even glance at him. Without a second thought, she spurred her forces forward, leading the Unicorn Duchy’s army in a relentless pursuit.

"..."

Watching her charge ahead, Gideon and Ignatius exchanged weary looks.

They couldn’t help but sigh.

Exhaustion was written all over their faces.

Seeing this, Ethan stepped forward and clapped a hand on Gideon and Ignatius’s shoulders. "Stay sharp. We all know how cunning the Inferno forces can be. If they wanted to stay hidden, there’s no way we would’ve found them this easily."

At his words, Gideon and Ignatius’s expressions shifted.

Their faces grew grim as they nodded. "Thank you for the warning, Count Valkarion."

"Move! We need to catch up!"

"If this is a trap, Helena’s in danger! Hurry!"

...

Clearly, even though they often felt exhausted and helpless in their unofficial roles as Helena’s caretakers, when real danger loomed, they couldn’t just stand by and let her face it alone.

They were genuinely worried about her.

Especially those who had served Grand Duke Theodore for years—many of them had practically watched Helena grow up.

People form attachments.

And after all this time, it was impossible not to care.

...

"General Helena! The enemy is just ahead!"

"A massive force of 7th-Tier One-Horned Demons and 8th-Tier Two-Horned Demon Kings! The Inferno Hero is hiding among them!"

Before long, Griffith, the 6th-Tier Royal Griffin Hero, swooped down from the sky with another urgent report.

At the same time, Helena’s eyes locked onto the battlefield ahead—a sea of towering, blood-red giants.

Inferno’s forces.

7th-Tier One-Horned Demons. 8th-Tier Two-Horned Demon Kings.

There were hundreds—no, nearly a thousand of them.

But Helena didn’t flinch.

"For the Light!"

With a fierce battle cry, she summoned her troops, drew the Greatsword of Judgment, and charged straight into the fray.

"For the Light! For the sun! Cut them down!"

"For the honor of the Unicorn Duchy—let’s take them out!"

...

In an instant, the battlefield erupted into chaos.

Six 10th-Tier hidden elite units—Paladins.

Three 11th-Tier Cavaliers from the Castle faction.

A dozen 9th-Tier Monks.

Five 10th-Tier Priests.

Thirty 7th-Tier Swordsmen.

Eight 8th-Tier Holy Crusaders.

And a massive force of lower-tier troops.

They surged forward, fearless and unyielding, charging straight into the enemy ranks!

BOOM!

The clash was immediate and brutal.

The two armies collided with earth-shaking force, and within moments, the ground beneath them was soaked in blood.

"ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!"

Ahead, the One-Horned Demons and Two-Horned Demon Kings swung their massive weapons and charged at Helena.

There was no fear in their eyes.

Only bloodlust.

Only savagery.

Only pure, unrelenting evil.

Their monstrous faces twisted into grotesque grins as they tore through the battlefield.

BOOM!

Wherever the Infernal Legions marched, the very landscape collapsed—mountains crumbled, boulders shattered, and the ground trembled violently beneath their feet.

Falling rocks, molten lava, and the treacherous terrain made the battlefield even more hellish.

And despite Helena’s unwavering resolve, the sheer disparity in numbers was overwhelming.

Right before her eyes, her soldiers were being ripped apart, their bodies shredded into pieces before they could even be healed.

The battle had only just begun, and already, the cost was devastating.
