My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 463: When the World Fell Silent
Chapter 463: When the World Fell Silent
The moment that Drakzen’s blade stabbed through Ichiro’s chest, the entire world fell silent.
Thanks to Sage Louie’s spell, the battle was transmitted to all the big cities and towns in the world, allowing them to witness Ichiro’s final moments.
The Sephyr Royal family widened their eyes in fear, with the queen, Diana, unable to hold back her tears.
The residents at End Town had blank expressions, contrasting with their previous cheers and praises to Ichiro and his group.
When the cries and sobs of a few villagers started to drown the crowd, Luke, the boy who Ichiro had inspired, shouted from the bottom of his heart and attracted everyone’s attention.
"Stand up! Big Brother Ichiro!" The boy shouted, prompting Pochi, his shadow dog, to howl in solidarity.
The rest of the shadow dogs in town started howling as if trying to support the fallen sage, filling the people’s hearts with hope, who began chanting along with Luke.
"You got this, Ichiro!"
"Our protector won’t fall so easily!"
Villagers shouted their words while others prayed at the shrine, asking before the gods’ statues to protect the savior of their town.
The alchemists, Jeniffer and Reinar, stopped working for a moment when they saw Ichiro’s body plummeting to the ground.
The citizens of Aridonia and Kalusia were no different. An eerie silence shrouded the cities as the spectators didn’t know how to react.
The King of Kalusia, Dente, looked to his side and spotted Acalan, the phoenix, watching the transmission with sharp, focused eyes. However, the shock of the scene didn’t allow him to ask what was on his mind.
Kyotora, Guanghua, Eldariel, Balinesia, Durinhold—The entire eastern continent was silent and afraid.
Even when all the nations had sent their troops to the battle, they knew perfectly well that the victory resided in the sage’s shoulders, and seeing their only hope plummet to the ground with his body covered in blood was enough to break them.
The same silence fell on the battlefield, which was a brief moment of respite for the demons, who pleasantly watched Ichiro’s lifeless body descend to the ground.
While the shock was still fresh in everyone’s minds, Sage Devon quickly arrived at the scene using his "home dimension" spell, allowing him to move around the battlefield without being spotted by the enemies.
Without thinking twice, Devon started pouring a healing potion, followed by a holy panacea on Ichiro’s chest wound. However, the substance had no effect on him.
Ichiro had a hole in his chest that showed his heart had been destroyed, and the cut that traveled up to his shoulder didn’t sever his entire arm by a few centimeters.
He had no pulse or nervous reactions, making Devon panic as he kept pouring the potions on his body to no avail.
During his struggle, Devon noticed that the wounded areas seemed to be covered by a strange black flame, and he understood that the mysterious energy was preventing him from healing Ichiro.
Still, even if he managed to heal and close the wound—Ichiro was dead already.
"Ahh... We can continue," Drakzen muttered with a slight smile, which turned into a frown not even a second later when he felt a powerful presence around him.
In the blink of an eye, Yoru appeared in front of Drakzen in his humanoid form, showing his fangs with ferocity while his eyes glowed red, clawing forward and releasing a wave of lunar magic that pushed Drakzen back.
The demon tried to taunt the wolf further, but as soon as he tried to speak, Yoru interrupted him by attacking relentlessly with a quick and powerful barrage of attacks, wholly lost in his rage.
"Heh, I’ll send you to your master soon..." Drakzen muttered, but once again, he was interrupted after Vespera appeared behind him.
The Queen Demon Spider had never felt such anger before, and seeing Ichiro’s lifeless body sent her into an uncontrollable frenzy that made her magic spike up in level.
Veins were visible around her eyes, which had also turned completely red from the rage, and extruding all of her spider legs from her back, she stabbed Drakzen in both shoulders and pushed him down to the ground with force.
Using blood magic to heal his wounds, Drakzen tried to counter the attack of the Legendary Beasts, but their enraged state proved to be too powerful and unpredictable for him to defend against.
Moreover, Xalathas and Agares wouldn’t be able to lend a hand against Ichiro’s companions, considering they were busy with the other enraged allies.
The moment that Agares thought about interjecting in Yoru and Vespera’s attacks, he was blasted to the side by Nessa, who punched him in the face and broke one of his fangs.
When Agares looked up at his enemy, his eyes widened along with his smirk, noticing that the demon girl had unleashed all of her demonic power.
Nessa, who had tried to keep her demonic energy hidden for so long, couldn’t contain it anymore when she saw Ichiro’s lifeless body, making her release all of her pent-up energy without warning.
The demon girl looked utterly different from her usual self. Her body had grown, and her muscles looked more defined.
She had black marks covering parts of her face and body, veins of anger popping out of her temples, eyes devoid of reason, and her hair length reached the ground.
Pleased with the sight, Agares called the demon by her true name—Nexa—which sent the girl into a frenzy and continued her onslaught of attacks against him.
Still, while Agares was confident he could deal with the enraged general, he felt another source of danger coming towards him, prompting him to raise his forearm in a defensive stance.
Nevertheless, his defense was shattered when the tip of a spear stabbed through his arm and sliced to the side, severing it and making Agares step away with haste.
To his surprise, it wasn’t only Nessa who had unleashed all her powers, but Jackson as well.
Jackson hadn’t used a speck of demonic energy for a long time since he wanted to live as a human, and even during important battles, he struggled to keep it contained. However, he felt he had no reason to hide it anymore.
"Hahah! The real Jaterno... What an honor!" Agares sarcastically commented.
Jackson, who always looked like a friendly adventurer with long, red hair, had completely changed his appearance after releasing his power.
His body looked bulkier, his skin turned into a deep black color, and his red hair resembled the mane of a lion. Moreover, his spear was shrouded in black flames that resembled the ones on Ichiro’s wound.
"I was ready to sacrifice myself in this fight..." Jackson muttered, staring at Agares with a cold expression.
"I wasn’t ready to lose a friend..." he continued, making the ancient demon feel a bit uneasy, as his aura was as threatening as the demon king’s.
