My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 153: Greater Demon
Chapter 153: Greater Demon
After Gina and I spotted the demon on the other side of the door holding a beastkin in the air, I kicked the door with all of my strength fused with wind magic to send it flying towards the demon.
Nonetheless, after the metal frame hit him in the back, the door folded slightly and fell on the ground, not even making the demon move one step.
The spot on his back where the door hit was letting out a small trail of smoke, so I knew that I had kicked it with all my strength, but the monster just turned around slowly while still holding the beastkin.
The demon was at least 8 feet tall, and his hands were as big as the torso of the man he was holding.
"That hurt..." the demon muttered, dropping the beastkin carelessly on the ground, who couldn’t move a muscle.
"Intruders? Here!?" the demon asked with indignation as he turned around to make eye contact with us.
The whites from his eyes were blacked out, and his pupils were as red as blood, which, honestly, was kind of unsettling to see.
"Who are you, little one!? And why is that fox woman not in chains!?" the demon exclaimed.
"Why would she be in chains?" I asked, preparing my bo.
"All of the beastkin belong to Lord Zagor, all of them!" the demon shouted as he turned to look at the workers, who were frozen in fear from our exchange.
"Hey, you people. Grab that fox woman and chain her in the dungeon!" he commanded two beastkin on the side, who started hesitating.
The demon gave them an imposing and threatening look, making the two enslaved workers hurry toward Gina to pin her on the ground.
However, the battle-maid apologized to her brethren and knocked them out before they could put their hands on her.
Right at that moment, the demon appeared next to Gina to take her when she wasn’t paying attention, but I had my eyes on him the entire time, and as soon as he tried grabbing the battle-maid, I used my bo to hit him in the head.
While my strike was enough to halt his movement for a brief moment, allowing Gina to jump back to safety, it wasn’t enough to damage the monster significantly.
Another trail of smoke was coming out of the spot on his head where I hit him, but he simply turned around to look at me.
"I’ll ask again. Who are you?" the demon said with a severe tone.
"I’m just a human..." I replied.
"What the hell are you anyway? All the lesser demons would have gotten knocked to the ground with that..." I said to the massive monster.
The demon chuckled with a mocking tone and straightened his back, making him look even taller than he was before.
"You would compare me. A Greater Demon with those mindless abominations?" he said, raising his arms to the side, showcasing his massive and deformed muscles.
’A greater demon?’ I thought, remembering that I had heard about them not that long ago.
After our first encounter with the lesser demons, I asked Vespera if there were other types, apart from the devils, of course.
She explained that demons had different ranks that they used to categorize themselves, and while she couldn’t remember all of them, she did mention greater demons as being much stronger than their lesser counterparts.
Greater demons were not created by the devils and their antics like black pearls. These were evil beings born in the demon realm that served under the devils of their own volition and admiration.
"I see... So I don’t need to worry about not killing you, then." I muttered, making the demon glare at me.
When I first hit him with the door and the bo, I did wallop him hard, but I wasn’t trying to kill him since I wanted to find out what he was first.
If he had been a beastkin that got turned into that monster, then I would have tried feeding him a golden pearl. But now that I knew that he wasn’t, there was no need for me to hold back.
I stowed away my bo and unsheathed my mithril dagger while maintaining eye contact with the demon and launched myself at him using a combination of lightning and fire magic.
The demon raised his forearm to protect himself, thinking that my blade wouldn’t be able to cut him, but his eyes widened when I cut through half of his arm, making him quickly step back so he wouldn’t lose his whole extremity.
"Heh..." the demon smiled as he held the wound on his arm that was bleeding black blood.
"Maybe I underestimated you, little one..." he continued as his aura grew more assertive.
The beastkin workers that were around us started to scatter and move away from their stations with fear.
"Finally, a worthy opponent! After tormenting all these beasts, not even a single person had been able to hurt me like this!" the demon continued.
"Sorry, I’m not here to be your opponent..." I replied with a cold tone.
"This won’t be the grandiose fight you were expecting..." I continued, using strong gravity magic on the demon.
As his body slowly caved into the ground from the weight of his body, the demon kept standing while withstanding the pressure, which was kind of impressive since it was just as strong as the gravity that completely crushed the goblin king.
However, it was good enough to halt his movements for some time, leaving Gina an opening for her to appear, using her daggers to sever the arm that I almost cut before.
With black blood pouring out of his arm, the demon surrounded himself with a strange energy that freed him from the gravity crush as he rushed at Gina. Still, the battle-maid was focused and avoided his punch with a swift dodge while stepping away.
The demon tried pursuing Gina, but I appeared right next to him with a kick charged with powerful fire magic and broke one of his horns while burning half of his face. Nonetheless, the demon was still standing.
’What the hell is this thing made out of?’ I pondered right after landing my kick.
