My Wife and I Became Sages in Another World-Chapter 151: The Phoenix’s Blessing
Chapter 151: The Phoenix’s Blessing
While I lay on the ground of the crater, I was so deep in my thoughts that I had forgotten to heal my injuries with my potions.
I couldn’t get my mind off the promise I made to Acalan, and while I didn’t enjoy being in the middle of this war, I was feeling much more motivated to bring it to an end.
My two companions slowly approached me and lay next to me with tired expressions.
Vespera still had two of her spider legs burnt, accompanied by a few cuts on her face and body.
Yoru had burnt marks all over his fur and a bloody bruise on his forehead from one of the blows he received that made him crash into a rock pile.
The knights had won their fight against the Terra Titans with no deaths on their side, although there were a few knights who got injured and were being treated with potions.
Commander Harvey and Valentina came flying down to the crater after their fights, holding the Titans’ hearts in their hands.
"Ichiro!" Harvey shouted as he sped up to approach me.
"Huh? Oh, good job, guys..." I replied, slowly sitting up and noticing the blood that was still dripping from my head.
"Are you guys okay!?" Valentina exclaimed as she caught up to us and saw my companions and I beat up state.
"Yeah, we are fine..." I replied with a somber tone, opening my void pocket and grabbing three healing potions for me and my companions.
After drinking some of the potion and splashing it on a few open wounds, I slowly stood up along with Vespera and Yoru, looking much better, although our clothes were still stained with blood.
I was still shocked at our fight with Acalan, so I didn’t think too much about it at that moment, but the fact that Valentina and Harvey’s groups were able to take down those Terra Titans was impressive.
They were strong, and I knew that very well since I was the one who trained them, but I didn’t think they would get the job done so easily.
With the two extra hearts that they collected, we had a total of four titan hearts, meaning that we only needed to find two more if we wanted to bring the Legendary Beast back to his real form.
The empress’ army didn’t take long to cross the city walls either, overpowering the lesser demons’ force and healing many of them in the process.
By the time we reached the walls to help them clear out the enemy forces, the soldiers were already occupying the city and taking the beastkin to tents that they put up on the streets so Vespera and I could heal them of their curse.
Needless to say, it was an extremely long day. We couldn’t heal all of the beastkin since there were literally thousands of them, so we stayed for a few days, treating everyone.
When I told Gina what had happened with Acalan, she looked sad for a moment but quickly composed herself and explained that the phoenix’s altar was inside the castle at the capital.
She was determined to retake her home and use the altar to bring back the protector of her nation, and I was fully on board.
The war had been a pretty dull experience for me. Apart from seeing new places in this world, which was nice, it made the rest feel incredibly awful.
One of the nights that we were staying at Startown, I sent a voice message to Melina, telling her about the events that had happened and my promise to Acalan, which I wanted to fulfill.
I didn’t want to worry her, but I also wanted to talk to her, putting me in this weird position of not knowing what to do exactly.
In my previous life, any time I had a problem, I bottled it up inside and allowed it to stress and consume me. I never had anyone to talk to, so the easier thing to do for me was to endure it.
However, that changed when I met my wife, as she encouraged me to speak to her about everything that ever crossed my mind.
Any time I had a problem or a slight worry, talking about it with my wife was the one thing that would give me peace of mind, as she would listen attentively and console me without ever judging.
Unconsciously, I was doing the same thing with the Melina from this world. Even if she was my reincarnated wife, I was sure she didn’t remember our past, so I didn’t know how she would react to listening to me.
Nonetheless, I couldn’t contain myself and told her everything.
That same night, I was lying on the roof of one of the tallest buildings in Startown, looking at the sky and relaxing for a moment, when my companions arrived to give me some company along with Gina.
"Hey, Ichiro. You haven’t checked your information recently, right?" Vespera asked as she sat beside me.
"Huh? No, I haven’t..." I replied, prompting me to open my "inspect" window to see what she was talking about, as she wouldn’t have brought that up for no reason.
<Name: Ichiro

"D-did I get a new skill!?" I exclaimed as I focused on the individual line.
<Blessing of the Phoenix: Skill obtained by killing a phoenix who willingly wants to die.
Increases fire affinity and allows the user to cast phoenix-fire
It will enable the individual to come back to life after suffering a mortal wound and can only be used once every ten years.>
"This is..." I muttered.
"Pretty amazing," Vespera said, finishing my sentence.
Slowly, Acalan’s plan became more evident to us. Since he couldn’t fight Zagor directly, knowing that it would lead to the deaths of the beastkin, he bargained with the devil and offered to work with him in exchange for their lives.
Zagor took the deal, but not before cursing all of the beastkin to make sure that the phoenix fulfilled his promise. However, Acalan had been waiting for someone like us to arrive, and I wasn’t planning on letting his sacrifice go to waste.
"I did promise to bring him back to a new Kalusia..." I said, closing my information window and lying back down on the roof with my companions.
