Chapter 135: Melina at the Academy

It had been a few days since Ichiro left for the Droman Empire, and Melina had started attending her classes at the academy.

At first, she was enthusiastic about the prospect of learning new things but was quickly brought back to reality when she realized the magic that the professors at the academy were teaching wasn’t even close to the level that she could already cast.

During one of her practice lessons, the students from her class were tasked with practicing the spell "fireball" and were given a long chant that they needed to recite before casting it.

"Fire that burns everything, lend me your flames to vaporize my enemies, burn through the core, and let them feel the wrath of the true fire..." a student chanted for a few seconds before releasing a slow and weak fireball that barely left the target with a burn mark.

Melina tried to speak up and explain that chants weren’t needed when casting magic, but the professor dismissed the princess’ words, saying that not everyone was as talented as her to pull that off.

Nonetheless, Melina knew that wasn’t true, as Ichiro had told her that everyone was able to cast magic without using words as long as they had MP.

The knights of their kingdom were all training and learning how to do it, even the ones that didn’t have as much magical talent as others, so she knew for a fact that it didn’t have anything to do with talent.

When Melina’s turn came, she stepped onto the practice ring and pointed her finger at the target.

"A fireball isn’t as effective as this..." she muttered, producing a flaming laser that flew at high speeds towards the target, leaving a burning hole in the center as her fire laser reached the wall at the back.

In her other classes, she felt much of the same. The professors were teaching outdated methods for casting magic, and every time that she tried to intervene, she was quickly reminded that she was a student and should simply listen to the lessons.

At the academy, everyone was equal, even if they were the princess of the residing nation.

In reality, nobody in the Sephyr Kingdom would’ve dared to speak to the princess that way, but the professors at the academy were allowed, as it was part of the rules that they had to treat all students equally.

Of course, Melina didn’t mind that at all since she preferred when people treated her like an equal and not like a princess, but the frustration she felt when going to class was apparent.

If it weren’t for Melina’s roommates, she would have had a worse time at the academy.

A few days after her arrival, she met the two princesses who would share the room with her.

Yuki was a princess from the nation of Kyotora. She was a girl with long black hair and liked to dress in eastern attires that were a common sight in her country.

Eve was the daughter of the chief of the elves, which was a longer title for Princess. Apart from her iconic pointy ears, she had light-blonde short hair and green emerald eyes.

Melina had become good friends with the other two princesses and vented her frustrations any time she could while they hung out in their room.

On one random day, Melina returned to her room after a long class and crashed on her bed with her face facing the pillow, letting out a groan of annoyance.

"What happened now?" asked Yuki as she lay on her bed reading a book.

"Ugh, everything is so boring..." said Melina, her voice muffled by the pillow.

"Did the professors tell you to stop trying to teach their class?" the black-haired princess asked.

"No. I don’t even bother trying to correct them anymore..." she replied, turning her body to gaze at her roommate.

"I just feel like everything was a thousand times more fun with Ichiro, and I learned new things every day... Here, it almost feels like I’m wasting time." Melina continued with a sad expression.

"If you miss your boyfriend that much, just send him a message. He left that crystal thing for you, right?" Yuki replied, closing her book and sitting straight to console her friend.

"I...I told you!" Melina shouted as her face got red like a tomato.

However, before she could say anything else, Eve arrived in their room as she was finished with her classes for the day.

"Oh, what are you guys talking about?" she asked, entering the room.

"About Melina’s boyfriend," Yuki replied with a playful tone.

"He is not!" Melina shouted, blushing.

"But you told us you kissed him, right?" the elf princess asked with a smile.

"R-right..."

Yuki and Eve exchanged looks and chuckled, teasing Melina even more and making her get even redder as she covered her face with her pillow in embarrassment.

Unbeknownst to the princess trio that a student had been eavesdropping on their conversation, the dark-haired boy ran to his friends, who were hanging outside in one of the gardens at the academy.

"You guys won’t believe what I heard..." said the boy to his three friends, recounting how he heard that Princess Melina was bored and that she missed a man named Ichiro.

One of the teenagers, who had greenish hair and blue eyes, asked the dark-haired boy if he had heard clearly.

However, the tattle-tale kid got so intimidated by his question that he retracted his statement, saying that he must have heard wrong as nobody would dare take "Luca’s future wife" away from him.

Luca was the son of the ruler from the nation of Vista, which was a country that Giuseppe, the reincarnation previous to Ichiro, had founded.

Ever since he got to the academy, he fell in love with Princess Melina and had been trying his best to get close to her. Nonetheless, Melina was so entranced in her studies and problems that she had never even paid attention to him.

"Just in case... Find out who that guy, Ichiro, is..." Luca said to one of his friends with a severe tone.
