Chapter 24 - 24 - Why is Cruxius removing his clothes?

"I need to leave," Jenny thought, yet her feet felt glued to the floor. She stood frozen while the other doctors and nurses had already dispersed.

A few patients lingered nearby, but they now kept to themselves after the guards signaled them to head inside.

Her eyes were fixed on the young man who had earlier punched the dean of the hospital. Then, she turned toward the woman—the one who had cursed Jake's hand.

"Kill Alvian—the dean of Saint Regalia Private Medical Hospital."

'!'

'N-no...' Jenny's body moved before her mind could catch up, her steps instinctively retreating the moment she heard him say those words over the phone, eyes cold and focused on her.

A numbing jolt passed through her limbs like thunder, forcing her legs into motion.

She bolted inside the hospital—the main entrance was blocked by the man's bodyguards, leaving her no other way to escape.

Jenny's chest rose and fell in harsh, broken bursts, her breath catching as if it hurt to breathe.

Her hands trembled, fingers twitching uncontrollably as they scraped the wall for support.

Her wide eyes shimmered under the hospital's harsh lights, darting frantically like a cornered animal.

Her lips parted, barely releasing shaky gasps. Her face was drawn tight—jaw clenched, brows furrowed in panic.

Her legs, stiff and shaky, threatened to give out beneath her, but she kept pushing forward, fear dragging her faster than her strength could keep up.

'I-I need to... call.. mother!'

----

"Master, did you just..." Darithi narrowed her eyes, the edge in her voice sharp as she caught onto his words—he had just admitted, subtly yet surely, to killing that man.

Worse, the tone he used suggested that the person on the other end of the call was a contracted killer—possibly a supervillain. Only individuals of that caliber could eliminate someone as influential as Dean.

It unsettled her.

Her master's association with such people was dangerous.

Supervillains were double-edged swords—unpredictable, treacherous. They betrayed their employers more often than they completed their missions.

"Keep an eye on her, Darithi," Cruxius ordered, clearly not in the mood to explain. He directed her to tail Jenny, suspecting that she knew Thalia was planning to skip out.

Given how violently Thalia had acted toward her stepsister, he figured Thalia, if she tried to run away, would walk right into his trap and get caught.

Watching Jenny might be like tracking the prey to catch the real hunter.

He knew Darithi. She'd do it, even if reluctantly—just like she had back when he turned from hunter to villain.

Back then, she tried warning him, tried telling him the path he was on would destroy him. But that was all she could do—speak. Nothing more.

When she began warning him of the consequences, he slowly distanced himself.

And the moment his identity as a supervillain was exposed, he cut ties completely, setting her free.

Yet she'd still tried to protect him with her meager strength.

It led to her death.

Only after losing her did he realize what she meant to him.

It was all too late—and even though he had the power to change time, he didn't.

Because the one Darithi sacrificed herself to protect him from... was a monster in her own right.

Saving Darithi would mean going back to when that monster was still alive.

It would trigger an endless cycle.

And going too far back would undo everything he had worked for.

So, he chose to let her go.

He was too far buried in the mud of this world. The only path left was forward.

"I understand," Darithi said, giving a quiet nod before turning sharply and disappearing in the direction Jenny had gone.

She kept a careful distance, just enough not to raise suspicion. Others would be watching too—getting too close would only draw attention.

'Hah... I don't want to cross paths with those Royals—not yet,' Cruxius thought, closing his eyes for a moment before walking forward again.

He still had time before dealing with the Royal bloodline holders. So rather than thinking about what was yet to come...

...he would focus on what was right in front of him.

"Hello, can you tell me the way to Dr. Seleyena's cabin?"

-----

Inside Doctor Seleyena's cabin, two individuals were about to take seat across from one another—Thalia on one side, and Seleyena herself on the other, watching the girl dress in silence.

"What an animal..." Seleyena muttered, her face twisted in visible disgust. Her eyes blinked slowly, processing the sight before her, a mix of confusion and anger shadowing her face as she gestured for Thalia to take a seat.

Red marks covered Thalia's body, and her lower region was clearly in distress—swollen, abused, with no time allowed for recovery. The amount of semen inside her was excessive, indicating she had been ejaculated in multiple times.

It was, at its core, a crime.

Simply a beast had humiliated her all night long.

"Yeah, he is... but can I leave now, doctor?" Thalia asked, a little embarrassed as she finished dressing and finally took the seat.

She stared at the woman in front of her—the first person to have something close to real empathy for her, even if it was veiled under professionalism.

All Thalia wanted now was to leave this place before that man arrived.

Showing her condition had gained her some trust, enough to earn sympathy—and that was all she needed to run.

"Hmm. Normally I wouldn't advise it, but... this may be your best chance to get away from them," Seleyena said with a strange tone, scribbling down three medicines and handing her a capsule for birth control along with a small glass of water.

She understood now.

If Thalia's body had been pushed this far, then the man who brought her here was exactly what Dean's son had described.

Maybe drugs played a part—but the signs on her body spoke of experience.

That man had done this before... several times to know exactly where to touch women.

It might be now or never.

Once the Blac family's influence came into play, even she might not be able to protect the girl.

"...Thank you, doctor," Thalia murmured, eyes soft with a mix of surprise and relief.

She had misjudged this woman—assuming her concern was the usual robotic sympathy doctors gave patients.

But now... it was different. This woman wanted her safe.

Thalia quickly stood, swallowing the capsule with water as she turned to leave.

Seleyena watched her go, letting out a breath she didn't realize she was holding. "I hope she stays safe," she whispered, eyes on the closing door—aware of just how tangled this girl had become in the web of powerful people.

Until—

'!'

A boot suddenly wedged in the door, stopping it from closing.

"Letting your patient escape isn't very doctor-like," came a voice.

Cruxius.

He'd been waiting outside for a while, and now, seeing Thalia flee, he stepped inside, pushing the door open with a slow grin spreading on his face.

Seleyena rose from her seat, alarm written all over her face. Her eyes locked on him as he walked closer—and then, he moved his hand to his shirt.

He started unbuttoning it.

"W-what is the meaning of this?!" she demanded, voice sharp with disbelief.

She had seen what he'd done to Thalia—her body told the entire story.

He was a sex fiend; even when drugged, the state of Thalia's body seemed to reveal the perverted character of this man. He didn't need to be under the influence of drugs to ruin anyone—he was a carnal demon.

And now he walked into her office with that perverted gaze?

Something was off. Very off.

"Meaning?" Cruxius smirked as he slowly unbuttoned his shirt, then slid his hand down to the belt of his pants and unbuttoned it too, letting it fall to the floor. "Isn't it obvious? I just wanted to open your......
