Chapter 35: Chapter 35: Come over and help me undo my belt

Lu Lu shrieked, "Sister-in-law? What makes her a sister-in-law?"

Facing this delicate-looking yet sharp-tongued sister-in-law, Qin Miaomiao managed to maintain a relatively gentle demeanor, without showing any displeasure.

Lu Lu glared at her a few times, deliberately hooking her arm around Lu Qing’s and speaking with a coquettish tone:

"Brother, why did you come back so late? I heard you went to that charity gala, and you didn’t even take me."

As she spoke, she intentionally clung to him and walked inside, completely ignoring Qin Miaomiao standing nearby.

For such little-girl tactics, Qin Miaomiao showed no reaction, her expression calm as she steadily stepped into the living room.

The living room was brightly lit, and on the staircase, a woman dressed as a noble lady slowly descended. Her features were radiant, and her presence commanding.

She wore a silk shawl draped over her shoulders—this was Lu Qing’s mother, Fang Li.

"Why so late?"

She asked, her gaze briefly sweeping over Qin Miaomiao. That scrutinizing look was somewhat unsettling.

"Attended a charity gala,"

Lu Qing replied indifferently. Fang Li then turned her attention to Qin Miaomiao, who obediently stepped forward to greet her:

"Mom."

"You brought her here?"

She asked. Lu Qing uttered a soft "Mm" and spoke with an unquestionable tone:

"From now on, she’ll live here."

"Live here? Brother, you must be joking!"

Lu Lu shrieked sharply, her pitch so high it was nearly ear-piercing, as if she couldn’t accept this reality.

Lu Qing’s expression darkened slightly, evidently displeased by her loss of decorum. He said coolly:

"She’s your sister-in-law. If she lives here, do you have a problem with that?"

Though Lu Qing usually doted on Lu Lu, he maintained an air of authority as an elder brother. Lu Lu was somewhat afraid of him; seeing his face darken, she dared not say much, only muttering under her breath:

"She usually lives elsewhere, doesn’t she? Why move in suddenly—it feels so weird."

Fang Li, however, noticed something unusual about Lu Qing, her sharp gaze shifting to Qin Miaomiao. She realized that from the moment her daughter-in-law entered the living room, she had maintained an impeccable and ladylike posture—her composure unbroken, even down to the curve of her lips.

She watched everything with a faint, ambiguous smile, without the previous timidness or fear.

Fang Li frowned slightly and asked in a low voice:

"Why the sudden decision?"

Lu Qing’s tone remained cold:

"She’s a Lu Family daughter-in-law; naturally, she should live here."

Fang Li’s heart tightened. Her son was a man of firm resolve; his words signified his stance.

She had no choice but to reassess Qin Miaomiao.

What kind of tactic had this seemingly unremarkable daughter-in-law used to change Lu Qing’s attitude?

"But..."

Lu Lu tried to say something but silenced herself under Lu Qing’s icy glare.

Qin Miaomiao followed Lu Qing upstairs and into the bedroom. The European-style decor, simplistic black-and-white tones, exuded a cold, minimalist feel—mirroring his own personality.

She wandered about briefly; the bedroom was extensive, leading to an oversized walk-in closet.

His clothes were meticulously arranged—custom-made, one row after another, all top-tier, high-end luxury brands.

It was truly dazzling.

"Your belongings will start arriving tomorrow,"

He entered the room gradually, speaking in a calm tone as he removed his wristwatch. His gaze fleetingly swept over her—her spine tingled.

He approached and stopped just a few steps away, his dark eyes fixed on her.

"Come here, help me with my tie."

Could she say no?

Even if her heart resisted, she had no choice but to step forward and reach out for his tie.
