My Apocalypse Territory-Chapter 422 - 394: Breaking the Illusion Array
Chapter 422: Chapter 394: Breaking the Illusion Array
After rummaging around in the pit for a while, Tang Yu couldn’t find any other spoils of war.
The two Transcendent members of the Ghost Hand Clan were indeed very poor. They didn’t have a single piece of Transcendent Equipment. One of their bodies had been blasted to smithereens, the other was half-destroyed. Their broken spirits were devoid of life, not even fit for recycling.
Several Catastrophe Level demonized beasts had completely turned into dust.
"Previously, they at least left behind some precious materials..."
Tang Yu could only pin his hopes on the Doomsday Cult headquarters.
With this thought, he hastily beckoned Nancy and Eileen to board the floating airship, as the "Sail" lowered its flying altitude and headed in the direction from which the Transcendent Ghost Hand Clan members had come to provide support.
The floating airship was only tens of meters above the ground, very close. Looking up, the enormous object glowed with a cold metallic sheen.
The perceptions of the few people on deck had already spread out, scanning the ground, the underground, and even the surrounding mountains inch by inch—Tang Yu could not be certain where the Doomsday Cult’s headquarters might be.
Yan Dingtian was left behind, following the army at a slow pace.
Even after being injured, he was equivalent to 0.6 or 0.7 of a Transcendent Combat Power. Encountering sudden situations, Yan could still hold his own for a while.
Tang Yu leaned against the railing at the edge of the deck, gazing into the distance while circulating the Source Power within his body, slowly negating the side effects of the potion. The light blue color on his face was gradually fading.
The more they advanced, the more alarmed the landscape below appeared.
This was deep within Crescent Mountain, where the trees should have been lusher. Yet looking around, many had already turned yellow.
"There, something’s off."
Eileen looked to the side, frowning.
The "Sail" shifted direction, flying towards the area Eileen had indicated, and then hovered in mid-air.
Tang Yu looked out and saw just an ordinary brownish-yellow hillside, covered with some vegetation.
No different from other areas.
But his sharp perception still faintly sensed a discordant feeling.
He immediately activated the "Insight Eye", concentrating on the view.
The scene seen through his eyes underwent a transformation.
On the hillside, there were several small buildings two to three stories high, ordinary buildings like privately-built bungalows. Looking out, it appeared to be a deserted village.
But the fact that the village was intact and was covered by an Illusion Array designed to conceal it said a lot.
Behind Tang Yu, a Cannon materialized, and a meteor-like fiery-red cannonball shot out. With a loud "boom," it exploded on the hillside, creating a crater three to five meters in diameter.
However, in the image seen through the "Insight Eye," the cannonball that fell was absorbed by a layer of light outside the village, and what the naked eye saw was just an illusion created by the Array to deceive the sight.
Perhaps it would take an attack strong enough, surpassing the Illusion Array’s critical threshold, to break it.
Nancy raised the Calamity Greatsword to strike, but Tang Yu stopped her.
On that faint layer of light outside the village, by operating the "Insight Eye," he could see some flowing energy lines. These lines constantly shifted, but they always converged to a point at certain areas before separating again.
The "Insight Eye" could discern the operational trajectory of the Rune Array!
If it weren’t for the limitations of his knowledge in Rune Studies, he might be able to see through the essence of the Array and even replicate it.
The deeper I delved, the more I realized the potency of the "Insight Eye", truly worthy of being a reward for clearing Lord Mode.
Tang Yu controlled the flaming cannon hovering behind him, a fiery meteor plummeted, hitting the energy node where several currents converged. The light membrane shook violently; the converging energy streams were already unstable.
There was initially the width of five fingers, but now, at most only two fingers remained.
’As expected, the effect is immediate!’
Another cannon shot down, and this time the energy node burst open. Visibly, the entire Rune Array shattered like glass in an instant.
A silent village was revealed within.
"Let’s go!"
Tang Yu flew down from the Floating Airship, followed closely by Eileen and Nancy, with Xiaoli the bamboo rat tagging along.
Stepping onto the village roadway, no one was in sight as far as the eye could see.
Tang Yu released dozens of Fighter Puppets to explore in all directions while he proceeded along the village road.
Before long, he reached the end of the village, an ominous cave appeared to lead underground.
Tang Yu’s eyes turned indifferent as data streams flashed through them. He paused for a moment before quickly entering the cave.
As he went deeper, a faint smell of blood hit his face. His expanded perception caught the presence of the Ghost Hand Clan deep below, with the sounds of panicked footsteps barely perceivable.
They were escaping.
Tang Yu had anticipated this, racing here without any concern for the side effects of potions.
He quickened his pace.
Inside the cave, there must be another exit leading outside, but with few forks, it was a straight path. There were only occasional chambers on the sides of the tunnel—the cult hadn’t expected an attack on their doorstep, thus it hadn’t bothered to construct a labyrinthine network of underground passages.
Several four-armed members of the Ghost Hand Clan with dark skin appeared before his eyes.
Different from those who had attacked humans earlier, the strongest presence among these Ghost Hand Clan members within his perception was only at the Fifth Tier of Awakening.
They weren’t tall, one meter, one meter twenty, one meter thirty... Only the Ghost Hand Clan member at the Fifth Tier of Awakening stood two meters tall. Tang Yu noticed "her" distinct bust, the loose human clothing stretched tight over her body.
’Is this a Ghost Hand Clan woman? And children? ...Could they truly be a complete tribe? Or a race?’
Tang Yu hesitated for an instant.
Several Ghost Hand Clan members, about to hastily depart, perhaps seeing that their pursuers were few and not sensing any strong presence, suddenly revealed a ferocious look and charged back at him.
Flames burst from his palm, the Blazing Fire Sword formed instantly; one swing turned the entire corridor into a sea of flames. The Ghost Hand Clan members had barely taken a step when they were completely turned to ash.
Eileen and Xiaoli stayed outside to search for other Ghost Hand Clan members.
Tang Yu and Nancy were much faster, shuttling through the underground tunnels. Some Ghost Hand Clan members had just emerged from the chambers, while others were already fleeing... All discovered Ghost Hand Clan members, except for a few who seemed to have a higher status whom Tang Yu took captive, were killed without mercy.
He pursued them all the way to another exit on the far end of the tunnel, which led to another silent village with no one in sight. After deploying some Fighter Puppets to stay back, he returned to the cave.
Below, there were many chambers yet to be explored.
Tang Yu inspected several; they appeared to be the dwellings of the Ghost Hand Clan, crudely made, but still filled with various human furniture and items... It was as if the Ghost Hand Clan was an unenlightened race that had obtained items from an advanced civilization. However, they were organized and understood strategy, and they seemed very familiar with humans... Tang Yu could not guess where these Alien Races might have originated from.
Nor could he determine their relationship with the Demonized Beasts.
