Murim's Weakest Princess-Chapter 34: Unhealthy Human Doll Lizi
Chapter 34: Unhealthy Human Doll Lizi
Satisfied with Anji’s aptitude for learning medicine, Doctor He finally taught Anji the more practical things. For the beginning test, he told Anji to use Lizi as a human doll to show him where all twelve meridians were. Diligently, Anji used Lizi as a demonstration. Some meridian channels were in embarrassing locations, so Anji exercised discretion and opted for pointing instead of touching her maid.
After an hour of quizzing, Doctor He Qiu deemed Anji ready for the next lesson. Lizi was a great test subject for learning basic diagnosis. In traditional medicine, pulse taking was only one of the many methods. It was usually the most accurate but also the one that needed the most experience. Instead, he decided to teach Anji some basic acupressure points. Cultivators usually learned about them because it helped them paralyse their opponents by clotting the qi in these important pathways.
"Today, we will focus on learning some acupressure points on the Spleen and Liver meridians. These two meridians are the most common root issues of most illnesses born from an unhealthy lifestyle. Thankfully, the human doll you introduced today has that exact issue."
Surprised by Doctor He’s claim, Anji looked at Lizi curiously. Was this the same maid who often chided her for living an unhealthy lifestyle by missing meals and sleeping late? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black1*!
Grinning evilly at the chance to give Lizi a free medical treatment while demonstrating the adverse side effects of an unhealthy lifestyle, Doctor He mercilessly instructed Lizi to take a seat and remove her shoes and socks.
"Watch carefully," he instructed Anji with a wry smile. "This is called the sanyinjiao acupoint. Depending on the person, the location will differ. However, it is generally four fingers above the ankle ball joint and lies along the bone at the outer side of the right leg."
Pressing down on the spot mercilessly, Doctor He smirked knowingly as Lizi howled in pain.
"Most women usually find this spot painful, so it’s good to massage it often to improve the spleen health. Unhealthy eating habits can cause qi stagnation at the sanyinjiao spot over time. It can also help regulate a woman’s monthly cycle if the blood flow is excessively heavy or irregular."
Nodding, Anji tried to locate the sanyinjiao on her right leg and pressed on it when Doctor He confirmed the right location. Unlike Lizi, who was almost in tears from a light massage, Anji did not feel much pain even when Doctor He pressed on it.
"Lizi," the young princess tutted. "You’re unhealthier than me. Please eat your meals with me from now on and sleep on time."
Feeling shame after a lecture from her charge, Lizi nodded lamely and apologised. However, Doctor He was not done with the human doll.
"Along the Spleen meridian, two other acupressure points are affected when one has poor eating habits. The yinlingquan point is located at the side of the right leg about three fingers beneath the knee cap. Many elderly people with knee pain also find this spot painful as most of the body’s weight taxes the knee joint. The next point is the tibia. Human doll, lift and flex your foot."
Unwillingly, Lizi placed her foot on the bench, toes pointing towards the sky, and prayed. The yinlingquan point was already more painful than the sanyinjiao point. Judging by what Doctor He was going to do next, the taibai was going to be the worst of all three locations. freēnovelkiss.com
Reaching for her foot, Doctor He calmly explained that many acupressure points could be found on it, prolonging Lizi’s dread. The maid felt like a criminal awaiting her execution, and her stomach did flips even though this was technically going to be a free treatment that would benefit her health.
"In foot reflexology, a doctor can easily tell which organ is weak because the blood vessels flow from the heart all the way to the foot. Everything is connected to the soles of the feet. The taibai point is located at the ball of the foot beneath the biggest toe bone. Like the hand, the five toe bones have three main joint segments. Taibai is located at the bottom of the third joint, so it’s easy to locate it, even if the flesh of the foot is often soft."
Curling his index finger in half and using the second joint as a lever to better locate the hidden taibai point, Doctor He quickly restricted any movement from Lizi’s leg and pressed into the ball of her feet hard to demonstrate where Anji could find hers.
The poor maid screamed in tears as Doctor He massaged her foot without mercy, feeling the knot in her blood vessel as he did. The human doll named Lizi must have been eating irregularly for years to accumulate this much stagnant qi in her spleen meridian. Thankfully, she had a cultivation base, and the qi stagnation did not worsen too quickly. Regular people would have fallen sick within a year with such an unhealthy lifestyle, but Lizi had never been ill since she was assigned to serve Anji.
Unlike Lizi’s feet, which had taken the shape of the shoes she wore, Anji’s feet were still soft and free of calluses. She located the taibai point with relative ease because her skin was still soft to knead and poked it curiously.
"Ah!" Anji winced when Doctor He corrected her position.
Compared to the sanyinjiao and yinlingquan points, the taibai hurt enough to make Anji curl into a ball. She finally understood why Doctor He had to restrict Lizi’s movements before he treated her. Good medicine was always bitter, and effective treatment was always painful. Anji held back tears as much as she could. However, the treatment was really painful!
With a sadistic sense of satisfaction, Doctor He instructed the two unhealthy ladies to practise finding the three acupressure points on each other and give each other massages for the next ten minutes.
"Once you’re done, I will teach you where to locate the taichong, qimen and ququan points that are part of the Liver Meridian. If you massage these places daily for at least half an hour, you will feel more energetic in two weeks. Of course, you must still regulate your meals and sleep to see the proper effects."
Paling, Lizi tearfully shook her head at her young mistress, begging for mercy. Anji felt a sense of loss when she saw the fear on Lizi’s face. Compared to her scrawny arms, she was more afraid of Lizi’s nails and her strength from working as a maid for years.
"I’ll be in your care," she bowed politely, ignoring Lizi’s pleas. "Please adjust your meals and sleep schedule from now on. I will do the same."
Resigning herself to fate, Lizi closed her eyes and extended her right foot.
In Chinese proverbs, there’s a similar saying called "fifty steps laughed at hundred steps". It means mocking someone else while sharing a similar situation with them.
