Chapter 45 - 45: The Dilemma of PPDC

A Turning Point for Mechas

Following their triumphant battle with the prototype mecha, Lieutenant Donofrio and Catherine became internationally renowned. Their display of courage and skill earned them widespread admiration from world governments.

Previously, many nations were skeptical about the time-consuming and costly mecha project. However, after witnessing the prototype's success, opposition quickly evaporated. Governments that once hesitated now rushed to invest in the mecha program.

In China, Wang Tao wasted no time. He swiftly selected a team of quadruplet brothers to become the country's first official mecha pilots.

To maximize their effectiveness, the brothers were subjected to intensive combat training. Developing tacit cooperation was the top priority—only through perfect synchronization could they fully harness the mecha's power.

Their instructor? Uchiha Madara.

Once a man obsessed with fulfilling the ambitions of the Uchiha clan, Madara now found himself idle in this new world. With no internal conflicts to wage and no Kaiju invasions for the time being, he grew bored. Unlike Su Xiuyu and Uzumaki Mito, who had each other for company, Madara had nothing but free time.

Wang Tao remained responsible for liaising between both sides. Unfortunately, the quadruplets lacked exceptional linguistic skills, forcing Wang Tao to act as their interpreter.

"Don't hesitate, all four of you," Madara said coldly, stepping into the training ring. "Come at me together. I'll teach you the art of killing."

He stood in the center with his arms crossed, making no effort to defend himself.

The brothers, fully aware of Madara's terrifying power, knew that no matter how fiercely they attacked, they stood no chance of harming him. Yet, they charged forward without hesitation.

A second later, all four were sent flying.

Madara had held back—barely using a fraction of his strength. Otherwise, the brothers would have been dead on impact.

"Your eyes..." Madara's voice was sharp with disdain. "I see no murderous intent. No killing spirit. You four were pulled off the streets—survivors of a bloody massacre—and yet you carry no fire in your gaze. Pathetic."

The brothers lay sprawled on the ground, gasping for air.

"The only thing worth mentioning about you," Madara sneered, "is that quadruplets are a rare sight in nature. Nothing more."

Seeing no reaction, he pressed further, his voice dripping with contempt.

"You're holding back. I can see it. You know I'm trying to provoke you, yet you remain cautious. Foolish."

Madara's eyes narrowed. "A lion bares its fangs, whether facing prey or fellow lions. Restraint is for the weak. Let go of your fear. Show me your desperation."

Though the quadruplets recognized Madara's psychological tactics, they couldn't help but snap. The humiliation pierced their pride.

Consumed by rage, they let out feral roars and launched themselves at him once more, using every dirty trick they could muster—eye gouges, throat grabs, and low blows.

Yet, it was all futile.

Madara effortlessly countered their wild assault and sent them crashing to the ground again.

Breathing heavily, the brothers stared up at him in a mixture of frustration and awe.

"This is my final lesson for today," Madara said icily. "Bravery is indispensable, but timidity in the face of impossible odds will only lead to a swifter defeat."

Then, his gaze hardened.

"Remember this—true courage is knowing you'll lose and still moving forward. Even if you face hell itself, you keep going."

With that, Madara turned and walked away, his crimson armor gleaming under the light.

The brothers lay on the ground, drenched in sweat, watching as Madara's imposing figure faded into the distance.

"Madara, I didn't expect you to have time to train these kids," a familiar voice called out.

Madara turned to see Su Xiuyu and Uzumaki Mito walking hand-in-hand, watching the sparring match with amused smiles.

Madara shrugged. "I've been here for a while. I'm starting to get used to these mortals. Even though they lack chakra, they can still change the world."

He glanced at the brothers, who were still panting on the ground.

"I once thought mortals were insignificant—powerless and unworthy of mention. But now..." he paused, his gaze softening, "I can see their resilience. Maybe this is what growth feels like."

Su Xiuyu smiled faintly. It was easy to forget that Madara was still young, barely an adult by the standards of their world. He was in the prime of his life, still climbing toward his peak.

"Xiu Yu," Madara said, his voice lowering, "this place is interesting. But I can't help but wonder... why are you so patiently waiting here? Surely there are greater surprises waiting for us back in the Naruto world."

Su Xiuyu's lips curved into a smirk.

"You've figured it out too, huh?" he replied casually. "Actually, I'm waiting for something specific—a wormhole leading to the Precursors world. I have... unfinished business there."

Madara's eyes narrowed slightly. He knew Su Xiuyu well enough not to question him. There was always a reason behind his actions.

Su Xiuyu's patience was not without reward. During his last battle with Kaiju Karloff, he unexpectedly received a system notification.

> System Notification:

Achievement Unlocked: Explore the New World

Reward: Sacred Tree Seed (Defective)

Conditions of Use: Conqueror

The reward caught him by surprise—a defective seed from a Sacred Tree. Despite its imperfection, the seed was still invaluable.

As a descendant of the Otsutsuki Clan, Su Xiuyu was already destined for long life and interdimensional travel. With the Sacred Tree Seed, he could now achieve true immortality.

Otsutsuki's power allowed them to plant "Wedges" into others—essentially, imprints that would resurrect them even after death. With the Sacred Tree, he could replicate the God Tree ritual and transcend mortality.

For Su Xiuyu, immortality was already within reach. But Mito, Madara, and Izuna were still mortal. No matter how powerful they became, they couldn't defy time.

Su Xiuyu was unwilling to watch his loved ones fade while he remained eternal.

But with the Sacred Tree Seed, that fate could be avoided. He could create a fruit of immortality—granting eternal life to those he held dear.

Madara's eyes gleamed with understanding.

"In other words..." he mused, "your goal lies on the Precursors planet. You plan to take it for yourself."

Su Xiuyu chuckled darkly.

"That's right," he confirmed. "I have no moral qualms about seizing a world from alien invaders. The Kaiju creators have it coming. Their world will be mine."

"But I'm not interested in ruling a planet," he clarified. "I only want the land itself. The territory—not the power."

Madara smirked, understanding Su Xiuyu's mentality perfectly.

"The truly strong seek freedom, not shackles," Madara said. "Who would waste their time ruling mortals? That's just another form of enslavement."

Su Xiuyu nodded.

"The Uchiha and Uzumaki clans will be my people—my companions, not my subjects. It's my duty to protect them, not to lord over them."

Madara's eyes glimmered with rare admiration.

The two men, once driven by power and ambition, now stood on the cusp of something greater—a future where entire worlds awaited their conquest.

And with the Sacred Tree Seed in his possession, Su Xiuyu's dream of eternal life was now within his grasp.

------

Following the Pons system upgrade, the neural connections between multiple pilots could now be synchronized—a process called neural synchronization.

When Su Xiuyu visited the PPDC's neural synchronization process, he was reminded of a game from his previous life: StarCraft. In the game, the Protoss believed in a sacred connection called Khalai, where their minds were linked as one.

Of course, the Pons system's synchronization—while impressive—was still nothing compared to the mystical psionic abilities of the Protoss. If Su Xiuyu were in an interstellar civilization, he would have to remain humble. After all, the firepower of star destroyers could easily level entire planets.

As the threat of Kaiju invasions loomed larger, countries around the world ramped up production of the first-generation mechas. Governments knew they couldn't rely on fixed wormholes as the only entry points for Kaiju attacks. Therefore, mechas were strategically deployed across the globe.

Based on the pattern of Kaiju assaults, analysts predicted that future attacks would prioritize densely populated and technologically advanced areas. In response, the PPDC and China rapidly positioned mechas at key global locations.

Nine mecha bases, known as Broken Domes, were established:

Hong Kong in China

Anchorage in Alaska

Lima in Peru

Vladivostok in Russia

Tokyo in Japan

Sydney in Australia

Each base covered a specific region, providing overlapping defense zones. The mechas at each base would coordinate their attacks, offering reinforcement when necessary.

To prevent Kaiju from breaching cities, the PPDC enforced a "Magical Coastline" defense—a 10-kilometer buffer zone around major coastal cities. If a Kaiju crossed this threshold, the likelihood of catastrophic damage skyrocketed. Thus, the PPDC's mission was clear:

Engage and destroy Kaiju before they crossed the 10-kilometer line.

During combat, high-cruise helicopters assisted the mechas by providing aerial reconnaissance and battlefield visibility. The first-generation mechas had poor visual systems, making the helicopters' support crucial.

The first wave of PPDC mechas, classified as Mark 1, were quickly rolled out. These early models included:

Noisy Boy – Known for brawling with Kaiju Karloff. Despite Karloff being designed to withstand nuclear blasts, Noisy Boy still beat it to a pulp.

Brawler Yukon

Romeo Blue

Horizon Brave

Tacit Ronin

The Mark 1 mechas were deployed across various bases. However, they were immediately met with relentless Kaiju assaults.

Due to their rushed construction, the Mark 1 mechas suffered from serious flaws:

Poor shielding against nuclear radiation.

Inferior visual systems, limiting their combat effectiveness.

During the fierce battles, most Mark 1 mechas were destroyed. Becoming a mecha pilot quickly became a death sentence.

The biggest flaw of the first-generation mechas was their nuclear power reactors, which lacked proper shielding. The radiation exposure was so severe that most pilots suffered fatal doses before showing symptoms.

Tragically, most pilots died in battle before they ever realized they were irradiated.

Aware of this flaw, Su Xiuyu personally warned Wang Tao. Su Xiuyu held a rare fondness for the quadruplet brothers—talented, loyal, and full of potential. He couldn't allow them to become collateral damage.

He advised Wang Tao to hold back China special mecha, Storm Red, from deployment. Since Su Xiuyu and his team were stationed at the China base, they could intervene during emergencies. Thus, there was no need to risk the quadruplets' lives prematurely.

Taking Su Xiuyu's advice, Wang Tao delayed Storm Red's deployment, using the extra time to refine and perfect the mecha. The quadruplets, whose rare coordination was invaluable, were spared from early, fatal missions.

Meanwhile, at the PPDC Command Center, tensions soared. Technicians monitored underwater detectors across the oceans.

Suddenly, alarms blared.

"General! Kaiju movement detected on the seabed near Australia! The energy signature indicates a 4th-generation Kaiju!" a technician reported anxiously.

The general's expression hardened. Without hesitation, he barked the order:

"Deploy Vulcan Ghost and Echo Sabre immediately!"

Two Mark 1 mechas were airlifted by helicopter to Sydney's coastline.

As the Kaiju Virus emerged from the sea, it effortlessly smashed through the coastal defense wall.

"Descend! Descend!" the helicopter pilot shouted.

As soon as Vulcan Ghost landed, the Kaiju barreled into it. The mecha was destroyed instantly—without even activating its weapons.

The remaining Echo Sabre engaged the Kaiju in a desperate melee. But outnumbered and unsupported, Echo Sabre was quickly overwhelmed. The mecha was crushed and buried in the sea.

The global broadcast captured the entire devastating defeat.

The PPDC Command Center was thrown into chaos. Officers' faces were grim with shock and sorrow.

"Launch the Eureka Striker—NOW!" the general ordered.

As the Kaiju advanced toward Sydney, the Eureka Strikers arrived just in time.

The more advanced mecha unit engaged the Kaiju in a vicious battle, ultimately slaying the beast before it could reach the city.

However, the damage had already been done. The Echo Sabre and Vulcan Ghost were lost forever, their wreckage scattered across the ocean floor.

The once-proud PPDC pilots were left grief-stricken.

The world, which had been celebrating the success of the mechas, was suddenly reminded of the grim reality:

Mecha pilots were dying in droves.

Entire squads of mechas were being lost.

The mood in the PPDC Command Center turned somber.

Even worse, the PPDC itself was in crisis. The first-generation mechas were suffering massive losses, creating a series of compounding issues:

Material depletion – The destruction of entire mecha squads placed a heavy strain on the PPDC's resources.

Financial collapse – The PPDC initially thrived on government funding and public donations, but both were rapidly dwindling.

Global economic turmoil – The continuous Kaiju invasions destabilized economies, making it impossible for nations to maintain their previous financial support.

Even more concerning was the mecha pilot shortage. Fewer and fewer individuals were qualified or willing to pilot mechas.

The PPDC's fate grew increasingly uncertain.

---

Despite the bleak outlook, Su Xiuyu remained unfazed. His ultimate goal had never been to protect Earth—it was to find the wormhole that led to the Precursors world.

If he could locate the Kaiju creators' homeworld, he could seize control of their technology and use it for his own purposes.

According to his calculations, the Precursors technology was advanced enough to mass-produce Kaiju, but more importantly, it could also be used to create Kaiju armies for himself.

Standing by Mito's side, Su Xiuyu's gaze turned sharp.

"I will take their world, Madara," he declared with a wicked smirk.

Madara's eyes glimmered with silent approval. He had no interest in ruling mortals, but he would gladly tear through dimensions for power and freedom.

With Kaiju technology in their grasp, Su Xiuyu and Madara would no longer be bound by a single world.

They were destined to conquer the multiverse.
