Zoe Bell had never received much affection or favoritism in her life, but she had experienced it with William Hale, whom she had only known for a short while.
She trusted him a lot.
Upon hearing this, William felt happy, “I still have some work to handle. In a couple of days, I’ll take you back to Capital City to meet my family first.”
Zoe nodded.
But William knew in his heart:
Trust does not mean falling in love.
The place in her heart was still empty.
He understood she had just been hurt, and that they hadn’t been together long. He needed to take things slow, yet he often felt an impatient urgency.
After arriving at the movie theater, William needed to make a phone call, so Zoe and Wyatt Hale went in first.
Old Sir Hale, having just hung up on a call and still irritable, saw his phone vibrate. He glanced at the caller ID and snorted coldly, deciding not to answer.
“Whose call are you not taking?”
Old Lady Hale put on her reading glasses and glanced at the incoming call display, “William’s?”
“I’m not answering! That boy just hung up on me!”
“Perhaps it’s something important.”
“Still not answering.”
“Then I will,” Old Lady Hale said as she pressed the answer button.
Old Sir Hale perked up his ears, but his wife got up and moved away to talk on the phone, all the while smiling, “…you’re serious?… That’s great… Around when, what date?”
Old Sir Hale lowered his head and gulped down several mouthfuls of tea.
Not until his wife hung up did he snort, “What did that boy say?”
“I’m not telling you. If you want to know, ask him yourself.”
“Not asking, you tell me.”
“I don’t want to say.”
Old Sir Hale was left choked up, and as much as he wanted to, he dared not lash out at his wife, his face turning a shade of blue with frustration.
It was not until before bed that the old lady said, “William said that in a day or two, he would bring that girl to meet us.”
Old Sir Hale sat bolt upright, startled out of his bed.

By this time, Zoe had arrived inside the theater. Each screening room had only eight seats, and they had booked the whole venue. Wyatt had deliberately chosen a romantic movie and bought cola and popcorn.
“Why did you only buy two?” Zoe looked at the items in his hand.
“My brother doesn’t eat these; he doesn’t like this stuff.”
Zoe nodded.
She couldn’t quite picture William eating popcorn.
When William came in, he naturally sat down next to Zoe.
The film was not the latest release but an old foreign movie.
Zoe watched with concentration until…
The screen showed some scenes not suitable for children.
She bowed her head slightly, too embarrassed to watch.
Because the screen was so large and the sound was surround, it felt as if the main characters were right in front of her. Nervously biting her lip, she gulped down several big sips of cola. The cold drink helped dispel much of the inner heat she was feeling.
She subtly turned her head and stole a glance at William next to her.
He was watching intently, sitting upright and proper.
She thought to herself:
Compared to him, her own experience was indeed shallow.
Mr. Hale was indeed someone who had seen much of the world.
But she didn’t know that, on the surface, while he might appear calm, it didn’t mean there were no storms raging inside him.
He moved a little closer to Zoe and whispered, “Zoe.”
In the theater, the air conditioning was strong, and a sudden warmth brushed by her ear, startling her. Her palms felt hot, perhaps because she had just seen the arousing scenes in the movie.
“What is it?” Zoe instinctively turned around, not expecting him to be so close.
His breath was slow, and between the opening and closing of his lips…
They almost kissed.
Their noses brushed against each other, their shallow, eager breaths intertwining. Zoe felt like all she could breathe in was his scent. She instinctively wanted to pull away, but then she felt a tightening around her waist.
Her waist was clasped in his grip.

His palm was burning hot against her waist, tightening his hold, pinching a soft spot on her waist, causing her body to shiver lightly.
“Don’t move, Wyatt is behind us.”
Sitting in the back row, Wyatt Hale was thrilled!
Aiyo yo yo—
What’s happening?
Kissing, huh? His heart raced with excitement as he secretly rubbed his agitated hands together.
“I think…” William’s voice was as cold and distant as ever, their eyes met under the starry sky, as if mist had blurred their vision, and it seemed galaxies were swirling in his eyes.
Their breaths were close, and the ambiguity boldly zigzagged between their intermingling breaths, without restraint.
His gaze was always so direct,
Like a wolf, straight and fervent.
“What do you want to say?” Zoe Bell’s voice was extremely low.
“I want a sip of Coke.”
His throat was dry, as if on fire.
After taking the Coke, he naturally let go of his grip, shifted his gaze away from Zoe, and his fingers tightened. The plastic cup creaking at his fingertips, his body’s nerves on edge, he really wanted to…
Kiss her!
He struggled to restrain himself, trying to steady his breathing.
Zoe frowned:
Hadn’t Wyatt mentioned that his brother doesn’t drink Coke?
She bit her lip, feeling a numbness where he pressed on her waist.
During the movie, all three of them had their own thoughts. Zoe and William were not in the mood to watch the movie at all, while Wyatt observed his brother and sister-in-law, excited and nervous, fearing he might miss some thrilling spectacle.
So much so, he didn’t even dare to go to the restroom.
Nervous and squirming,
Like a worm.
It wasn’t until the movie ended that he finally breathed a sigh of relief and scrambled to find the restroom.
Zoe smiled and gave him directions: “Go straight to the left, then turn south at the end; you should see the sign then.”
“Thanks, sis.” Wyatt frowned, “Why is the restroom hidden over there?”
Full of complaints, he rushed to the restroom.
William took a deep look at Zoe.
There was no particularly conspicuous sign around, so the restroom was not easy to find, yet Zoe had pointed it out so readily.
That could only mean:
She had most likely been there before.
Wyatt was carefree; when he returned from the restroom, he even exhaled, “That restroom really is hard to find. Sis, have you been here before?”
Zoe nodded.
“With whom?”
“A friend.” Zoe replied with a faint smile.
William was clear.
This friend was Brandon Stone.
Greenland was only so big, and there were only so many spots for couples to date. Brandon liked her, and naturally, they had been to many places together.
They had not only dated but had also been engaged. Perhaps if it weren’t for the appearance of Mina Bell, they would have been married.
William took a deep breath,
He had been jealous of Brandon Stone.
Even now, he wasn’t sure if Zoe’s heart still held traces of him, but Greenland was surely filled with their memories.
He knew that Zoe was now his wife, and he shouldn’t feel this way.
But people are always greedy,
He hoped that Zoe’s heart and eyes would be filled with only him.
William was always a restrained and rational person, but when it came to Zoe, he often lost control. He was sure he must have looked ugly and feared it would scare her.
So when they returned, he excused himself with work and did not return to their room to rest.
For two days in a row, it was the same.
Zoe, who was sensitive, noticed something was off:
Mr. Hale had been in a bad mood lately.
With their departure to Capital City approaching, if this continued, she would inevitably give something away in front of the Hale Family.
