My eyes slowly opened up as I woke up to the sound of noises.

The moment my eyes were fully opened, I became surprised after seeing that I was in my bedroom lying on my bed.

Standing beside me was a doctor and Beta Damien.

The face of the doctor was very familiar. Wait, I have seen him before. He was the doctor I met at the border.

But, why does his aura feel different now? Unlike our previous meeting, he is collected and matured. I had not sensed this presence before.

This is the human. His aura is weaker than the aura I sensed at the border.

The doctor I met at the border must have been his wolf.

Now that I know both auras, I should easily be able to tell them apart in the future, just like I can do with beta Damien.

"Alpha Anastasia". The doctor’s hand was on his left chest as he bowed before me and greeted me.

"Why is a doctor here, Beta Damien? What happened to me? How did I get here? And why are you here?". This was my question to him after I had jumped down from the bed and shifted into my human form.

Beta Damien had not replied to me and I quickly looked at the bed. Not seeing those weird eggs almost made me sigh in relief. They must have hidden somewhere.

’You stubborn head. You fainted and Beta Damien and Gamma Clark helped you return to the mansion. You should be glad that you are alive right now. How daring of you to risk your life and chase after the Lycan king!’.

I massaged my temples as Elektra scolded me. She was right to scold me.

I honestly didn’t know what I was thinking when I decided to follow him. (The mysterious man who turned out to be the Lycan king)

I mind - linked her, ’I did not know that he was the Lycan king. I mean, who would have expected the Lycan king to come into the shadows’ pack? How the heck did he pass security?’.

’He is called the Lycan king for a reason, Clara’. Elektra told me and I sighed.

"Alpha Anastasia, don’t you remember what happened to you? Two hours ago, I saw you running into the woods. I tracked your scent. And when I found you, you had fainted". Beta Damien asked me and furrowed his eyebrows.

I took my hands down from my temples, before replying to him, "I remember now. I fainted after meeting the Lycan king".

There was a long minute of silence.

Damien fixed his eyes on me like I was a crazy patient. "Doctor Jonathan, are you sure she is really okay?".

"I am a hundred percent sure she’s okay, beta Damien". Doctor Jonathan replied to Beta Damien before he placed his hand on my forehead.

I frowned. "Are you doubting me, beta Damien? Elektra can’t be wrong. She told me that he was the Lycan king".

"Elektra told you? She must have seen wrong. If the Lycan king intruded on our pack, I would have sensed an aura stronger than mine". Beta Damien admitted.

Before a knock was heard on my door, I sensed an unfamiliar aura outside my room. It seems like my sensing ability is improving. I stared at both Doctor Jonathan and Beta Damien, before I said to the person, "Come inside".

The door was opened, and Gamma Clark showed up. My mistake again. His aura is different. He must be Gamma Clark’s wolf. I have finally sensed Gamma Clark’s wolf’s aura, making me glad. In the future, I would be able to tell the difference between him and his wolf without Beta Damien’s help.

By Beta Damien’s help, I meant the way Beta Damien said Gamma Clark’s name at the border, making me know that it was Gamma Clark who was in control of the body.

Ha. Being a werewolf is hard because most of them, if not all, have double lives living in one body.

Truth to be told, most of the werewolves I have met with before, including lady Valerie. I could not tell if it was the wolves or the humans who were in control of their bodies, because for me to know and tell them apart, I must first know the auras of both the humans and the wolves.

Yes, the wolves are obviously stronger than their humans. So you think it would be easier to recognize them if they were in control?

But if the wolves were in control, and we didn’t know the aura of their humans, how would we be able to tell them apart and know who was in control of the body?

That’s why most times I go on with the flow. If I don’t know who is in control, I will simply call them by their human names. I am sure not only me does this. Other werewolves surely do this too.

Forget that Elektra likes to brag about how strong she is.

Even she would not be able to tell who is in control unless she knows both the humans’ auras and their wolves’ auras, in order to be able to tell them apart.

Gamma Clark’s wolf came forward. One knee touched the ground, with his hand on his chest.

Seeing him sweating on his forehead piqued my curiosity.

"Speak, Gamma Caleb". Beta Damien turned to him and ordered.

"I received a message from our warriors. Something strange happened, and it’s connected to the chosen child of the moon goddess". Gamma Caleb, Gamma Clark’s wolf, reported, before he, Beta Damien and Doctor Jonathan looked at me.

I frowned and clenched my fists, surprising everyone. But I did not care. I have had enough of all the strange things that always had something to do with me.

If someone else was in my shoes, I know they would feel the same way. I guess I will never experience having a normal life again.

Beta Damien’s attention returned to Gamma Caleb, who had stood up. He demanded, "Tell me about it".

"The warriors only mentioned that something strange had happened, beta Damien. I think they want us to come to the border and check it out in person". Gamma Caleb explained.

"I am coming too". I announced, and their attention returned to myself.

"No, you can’t. What if you faint again? We don’t even know what made you faint. And look at your feet. They are injured. Wait, did you faint because of the training?". Beta Damien immediately refused me. frёeωebɳovel.com

’This beta Damien is getting on my nerves, Clara. I thought you told him that you fainted because of the Lycan king? Does he have an issue with hearing? Does he not believe us?’. Elektra quarrelled.

"I didn’t faint because of the training. Since the strange thing that happened is connected to me, I am coming to see it myself. That’s final". I declared. Just in case, I went and opened my drawer and took the remaining two deadly drugs from it.

My palm covered the deadly drugs, so they couldn’t see them. I went to my dressing room and came out with a small purse that had a long chain-like rope.

I had already put the deadly drugs in my purse.

I hung the purse on my neck, shifted into my wolf form and dashed out of my room.
