Master of Deception System-Chapter 17: Impromptu Inspection
Chapter 17 - Impromptu Inspection
There were still twenty minutes left before ticket inspection, and delaying time was not an option for Li Xuan. Moreover, his original plan had been disrupted due to the presence of the police officer.
Li Xuan knew he couldn't take any chances or rely on luck. He needed a new plan.
His eyes quickly scanned the entire waiting hall. Should he hide in the restroom? The VIP waiting area? Could he find a place to avoid inspection?
As he was about to get up, he suddenly heard a voice calling out in a raised tone, "Comrade, if you need something, come over after the inspection!"
Li Xuan followed the officer's gaze and saw a middle-aged man who had just stood up. The man seemed surprised by the reprimand but didn't say much, prepared his documents, and walked over.
Seeing this, Li Xuan clenched his teeth. If he acted the same way, it would only arouse more suspicion. If they noticed that his voice sounded familiar, the consequences would be unimaginable.
He had to find another way to divert the attention of the two officers completely. Even though he had changed his appearance, his facial features could not be altered. If anyone associated him with Li Xuan, it would be a serious problem.
Li Xuan looked around and saw Liu Zhen just half a row away from him, with his back turned, still engrossed in his phone.
"Right..."
"Liu Zhen!"
A plan immediately formed in Li Xuan's mind. He took advantage of the moment when the officers were checking and not looking his way, and quickly stood up!
Since Liu Zhen was just half a row away, it wouldn't take long for Li Xuan to get there.
On average, each document inspection took about eight seconds. That should be enough time.
In no time, Li Xuan stood beside Liu Zhen.
"Liu Zhen?"
He feigned a tentative tone.
Liu Zhen, who had been looking at his phone, raised his head and seemed puzzled. He felt like he had seen this person somewhere before.
Before his brain could process further, Li Xuan immediately spoke, "I'm Liu Yang from Class 7 of Senior Three... You might not know me, but our classes were next to each other, so we should have seen each other!"
Upon hearing this, Liu Zhen quickly understood.
"Haha, Liu classmate, are you going to report to school?"
As he spoke, Li Xuan naturally sat in the empty seat beside Liu Zhen.
At that moment, the police officer finally glanced around and witnessed the instant Li Xuan sat down!
In the officer's mind, the analysis was simple: a new arrival. He didn't think much of it and lowered his head again to continue the search.
However, at this moment, Li Xuan's heart was pounding out of his chest!
It was a critical moment!
Despite being extremely nervous, Li Xuan didn't stop talking.
"Yeah, I'm going to Jinling."
"You're going to report too?" Liu Zhen smiled and nodded.
Before Li Xuan, Liu Zhen was the most famous high school student in Zhonghai City, so it wasn't surprising for him to be recognized.
Liu Zhen looked at Li Xuan and put away his phone.
"I'm going to Yanjing."
Li Xuan was curious, "Yanjing? Is Huaying starting school now? Isn't it too early?"
Liu Zhen nodded, "I didn't go to Huaying, I applied to the University of Political Science and Law."
"What?!"
Li Xuan was genuinely surprised. "Why did you choose the University of Political Science and Law? Weren't you accepted by Huaying in the early admission?"
Liu Zhen hesitated for a moment, but he wasn't impatient. "I prefer the law major, maybe the atmosphere at Huaying isn't quite suitable for me."
"Oh."
Although Liu Zhen said so, Li Xuan could see through his eyes and figure out what he really meant.
Once he understood Liu Zhen's intention, Li Xuan found it somewhat amusing.
Liu Zhen gave up Huaying for him?
Li Xuan patted Liu Zhen's shoulder and said, "You're impressive! If it were me... I wouldn't be able to give up Huaying."
The conversation continued, but the inspection officers were quick. In just a dozen minutes, they reached the row where Li Xuan and Liu Zhen were sitting.
While Li Xuan chatted with Liu Zhen, he glanced at the time.
So far, everything was going smoothly, but the most difficult part was yet to come.
Seeing Li Xuan glance at the time, Liu Zhen asked thoughtfully, "Is it almost time to board?"
Li Xuan nodded and said, "Yes, we have about three to five minutes before ticket inspection."
Liu Zhen acknowledged and looked up at the huge bulletin board in the waiting hall, locating the train that was about to arrive, heading to Jinling.
At the same time, the two inspection officers were approaching their location.
"Prepare your ID and ticket!"
This reminder prompted Liu Zhen to take out his ticket from his pocket and then placed his backpack on his lap, searching for his ID.
Soon, the inspection was upon them.
The two officers stood in front of Li Xuan and Liu Zhen and said, "Students, show us your ID and ticket."
As the officer looked at Li Xuan, he had already handed over his ticket and temporary ID.
Upon seeing the temporary ID, the officer squinted his eyes.
Temporary ID, student, recent graduate...
These key words immediately jumped into the officer's mind.
As the officer looked at Li Xuan, his heart was pounding, and he felt goosebumps all over his body!
Was he going to be discovered?
The officer's skeptical gaze was about to shift to "Liu Yang"...
But at that moment, he suddenly heard a voice, "Liu Zhen... haven't you found your ID yet?"
Upon hearing this voice, the officer's gaze, which was originally directed at Li Xuan, suddenly froze. He then shifted his attention to Liu Zhen, who was sitting next to "Liu Yang."
"Success!"
Although Li Xuan's expression remained unchanged, he was ecstatic inside!
His words successfully diverted the officer's attention while adding suspicion to Liu Zhen!
Since the key words were the same - student and recent graduate - the difference between having a temporary ID and not having any ID was huge!
"Hey, student... Where is your ID?" Liu Zhen became increasingly anxious as he searched.
Especially when the officer's tone turned serious, Liu Zhen began to feel nervous as well!
Tiny beads of sweat appeared on his forehead...
It was late summer, and although the weather was still hot, being in an air-conditioned waiting hall and sweating on the forehead...
Didn't it look like a sign of guilt?
Even though the reality might not be so, it certainly appeared that way!
