Chapter 177: Qualifying

Silence reigned in the hall for a few seconds, as the audience watched in awe at how Harry easily knocked Farhen down with a single punch.

—"He’s so strong..."

—"How is he so powerful?"

—"Is he really just a stage one Elementalist?"

Different murmurings arose among the students, as they looked with their eyes wide open at a scene that was formerly known to be impossible—an Elementalist defeating someone that was a mana core stage above them.

However, they had witnessed Harry take down a stage two Elementalist not just once, but twice now.

Even the instructors watching the fight were gobsmacked, and their jaws dropped in surprise.

The silence only lasted for a few seconds, before the crowd of students suddenly erupted into cheers.

—"Harry!"

—"He’s so strong! And to think he’s only a stage one Elementalist!"

—"Then how strong will he be when he becomes a stage two Elementalist?!"

—"He is very handsome also!"

Praises of Harry started ringing all around the hall, with the girls making comments about his handsomeness.

Meanwhile, seated at the far end of the hall, was a light brown haired student with a very young yet handsome face.

His brows creased deeply and his expression rapidly morphed into a deep frown as he stared at the stage.

The few students sitting close to him felt beads of sweat drip down their faces as they watched the expression on Trent’s face get worse with every passing minute.

’You’ve really gotten stronger... Harry, but it doesn’t really matter, you will still never catch up to me.’ Trent though.

Dan coughed lightly, as he slowly stood up from the ground, before staring back at Harry.

’He’s so strong... damn it.’ He mumbled inwardly, as he wiped the small trail of blood that was dripping down the edges of his lips.

From the corner of his eyes, Harry noticed Dan slowly getting back up on his feet.

’So he didn’t get knocked out by that punch.’ Harry thought, with one of his brows raised in surprise.

Though he hadn’t exactly used all his power in that attack, he still expected it to have been enough to knock Dan out. However, it seemed like the Elementalist was tougher than he gave him credit for.

Nonetheless, it all didn’t matter at the end of the day, since none of them could even do anything to him in the first place.

His gaze moved towards the two other students in their group, and a wry snile couldn’t but appear on his face when saw how much their knees were trembling in fear.

They had seen how Harry easily defeated Farhen, and they didn’t think they even had a chance against him, despite also being stage one Elementalists themselves.

’It’s not like I’m that scary.’ Harry thought, as he shook his head slightly.

"Shattering Rocks." He said, activating another skill. While they were too weak to do anything to him, and too scared to even try, he still had to knock them out, so he would qualify for the last stage of the event.

Two rocks swiftly materialized in front of him, before shooting towards the students at great speed.

Boom!

Just as it was about to connect with them, the rocks suddenly exploded into small stones, each of the stones slamming into their chests with force.

While the force of one of the stones might not amount to much, the force of all the stones slamming into their bodies at the same time sent their feet sliding on the ground.

They couldn’t help but groan in pain, as blood bled from their chest through tiny holes that were created by the stones from the blast.

pain from all the stones slamming into them at the same time caused them to lose consciousness almost instantly.

The pair eventually lost consciousness as they weren’t able to hold back the pain shooting up from their chest, their bodies falling straight to the ground.

Dan gritted his teeth in annoyance when he saw how Harry swiftly took care of the Elementalists, while also completely ignoring his presence.

’I don’t know why my mana suddenly spiraled out of control the last time, but that won’t happen again!’ He thought, hurriedly channeling his mana.

’Don’t you dare—,’ His thoughts were brutally interrupted by an unexpected wind blade, which swiftly arced towards him, slashing his chest with a deep, searing wound.

"Arrgh!" Dan grunted in pain, as he slowly touched the cut on his chest. He winced softly, feeling the warm sensation of blood coating his fingers.

He desperately tried to remain conscious, so as to remain in the fight, but he failed at the end, as his body fell to the ground, and he eventually passed out.

His body was already weakened from the punch Harry landed on him earlier, and the wind blade only made things worse for him.

All the other members of the group had finally been eliminated by Harry, and in the stage, he was the only one that could be seen still standing.

[And there we have our winner and another Elementalist who managed to qualify to the final round! Harry Ainsworth!]

The instructor’s voice rang through the stage, causing the crowd of students to immediately erupt into another round of cheers.

As for Harry, a slight smile appeared on his lips.

However, it wasn’t just because of the fact that he had just qualified to the final stage of the ranking event, but because of the notification that appeared in front of him.

[Optional Quest Completed!]

[Reward Granted: +30 Skill points]

[Hidden Quest Completed!]

[Win The Free-for-all fight flawlessly!]

[Additional Reward Granted: +20 Skill points]

Harry eyes widened slightly when he saw the notification about the hidden quest.

He hadn’t expected that the quest would also come with an additional hidden quest, but he wasn’t complaining, since all it did was give him even more skill points.

Ignoring the shouts of praises coming from the crowd of students, Harry walked out of the stage.

Finally, he had completed one of his temporary goals, which was to get into the elite rankings, and qualify to participate in the upcoming world tournament.

’It’s quite funny to think I’m basically an elite student now.’ Harry thought, with a wry smile on his face.

Meanwhile, while the other students were cheering and shouting praises for Harry, the top ten elite students all had deep frowns on their faces.

Trent gnashed his teeth against each other as he watched Harry leave the stage.

’Ainsworth...’ He mumbled inwardly, with a frown on his face. ’He actually changed his name...’

After a few minutes, the ruckus in the hall finally died down, and Harry returned to his seat.

However, the number of gazes lingering on him increased triple fold, as everyone wanted to see the face of the person that took down two strong Elementalists with relative ease.

Even from where he sat, he could hear the mumblings of the students about him, and a few of them made him cringe a little.

Harry ignored them as usual, focusing only on the stage. Finally, it was time for the next group.

Surprisingly, Trent was also in the next group, along with another elite student called Hugh Connor.

A weird glint flashed through Harry’s eyes, as he stared at the names displayed on the board.

Within a few minutes, the group members came out unto the stage, with all of them staring warily at Trent.

Trent simply scoffed, standing proudly with a smug smile on his face.

[And let the competition begin!]

The moment the commentator announced the start of the competition, the students immediately dashed towards Trent, hoping to somehow take him out first.

Trent flashed a sinister smile at them, before suddenly stretching his hand towards the group of Elementalists. freёnovelkiss.com

"Water Arrows!" he bellowed, and as if conjured from thin air, twelve water arrows, each with a wicked, gleaming edge, manifested before him.

Swoosh!!

Swoosh!!

Swoosh!!

Swoosh!!

With a swiftness that defied comprehension, they streaked toward the group of students.

Upon impact, a chorus of agonizing screams pierced the air as the arrows found their marks.

The sharp, icy pain that accompanied each strike was unbearable, causing the students to collapse to the ground, writhing in torment.

Their cries filled the arena, echoing the excruciating sensation that coursed through their bodies. Gradually, they lost consciousness, one by one, falling to the unforgiving ground.

[Through a stunning display of strength and power, Trent once again wins the competition, earning himself a place in the final stage!]

And just like that, Trent easily won the competition, causing the audience to burst into another series of cheers.

—"Such great display of power!"

—"How come he’s so strong?!"

—"We love you Trent!!"

A slight smile appeared on Trent’s face, before he turned around and started walking out of the stage.

’You just watch, I’ll win this event without your help.’ He mumbled inwardly, however, only he knew who he was referring to.

About an hour had passed since Trent secured his qualification for the final stage, and at long last, every group in this stage of the event had taken their turn.

Harry sighed as he relaxed his back on the seat. Out of all the group fight, he had only found a few quite interesting.

His gaze drifted to the yellow board ’floating’ above the stage, and a weird glint flashed through his eyes.

Displayed on the board were the names of the twenty-five students who advanced to the final stage of the ranking event.
