He looked as if he’d been genuinely shocked. Strange. Why was he reacting like it was some new revelation? Yujin frowned slightly in confusion. The silence was finally broken by Winston.

“Say it again. What did you just say?”

“You heard me.”

“I said say it again.”

Winston spat through clenched teeth, as if barely holding back from screaming. Yujin let out a short sigh and replied.

“At the reception. You and your friends said it. That since I’m just a whore who spreads his legs for anyone, it wouldn’t matter if you all took turns. That it looked like I even had your permission. Don’t you remember?”

“When?”

Winston demanded hastily.

“They said that in front of you? Who? When?”

Yujin didn’t answer. He just furrowed his brow deeper. What the hell was this now? What did he think he’d change by pretending he didn’t know?

“You were all in the salon together.”

Winston’s expression turned blank like he’d just been slapped. So he remembered now. Yujin thought bitterly. He probably heard so many things like that he couldn’t even recall which time it was. Considering how the men had laughed and joked about it, maybe it made sense. Then Winston spoke.

“I wasn’t there.”

Yujin, who had been staring at the ceiling, flicked his gaze toward him. What kind of bullshit was that? As if reading the disbelief in Yujin’s eyes, Winston repeated himself in a rough voice.

“I said I wasn’t there. Fuck. I swear, I was out in the garden with Evelyn at the time.”

Yujin stared at him silently. Winston, getting worked up, spoke more quickly now.

“I can even have Evelyn confirm it. I did get a call then, but I couldn’t hear clearly. They were just spewing nonsense, so I hung up. I swear. If you want to check the call log—”

“Not interested.”

Yujin cut him off coldly. He stared at Winston, who had frozen mid-sentence, and continued.

“Whether it’s true or not, what difference does it make? It doesn’t change anything.”

“What do you mean it doesn’t change anything?”

Winston could no longer suppress his fury and exploded.

“They said that shit to you and you’re saying it doesn’t matter? Why didn’t you tell me sooner? If you had—”

“If I had, what?”

Yujin still looked at him with the same emotionless gaze.

“What were you going to do? Kill them or something? What would it have changed?”

“They said that kind of filthy shit to you and I was just supposed to let it go?”

“That’s the kind of thing you say to me all the time.”

Winston, who had been spewing rage, froze.

Yujin looked straight at him and began to speak, flatly, calmly, listing off each word.

“Whore. Slut. Public toilet. Trash.”

Winston didn’t say anything. He just stared at him. Yujin kept going.

“You were saying all that while fucking me earlier, too.”

“That was—”

Winston started to speak. It was the first time he looked like he was searching for the right words, but Yujin didn’t let him continue.

“So it’s okay if you say it, but not other people? Who the hell do you think you are, Winston Atticus Campbell? What, you think anything you say is justified? That you’re some kind of sacred being? God? Go fuck yourself, you bastard!”

Yujin jumped off the bed and shouted at him. All the fury ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) he’d bottled up came pouring out at once.

“If I’m a slut, then so are you. You fucked me. If I’m a whore and a public toilet, then that makes you a whore and a public toilet too!”

Winston didn’t respond. He just stared at Yujin, face twisted in a way that made it impossible to tell if it was rage or something else entirely.

Yujin didn’t stop. He stormed off toward the bathroom. As he did, Winston called out behind him.

“Tell me who said it before you go.”

Yujin turned around as he opened the bathroom door and shot back coldly.

“Figure it out yourself. Shouldn’t be hard for someone like you.”

He closed the door as quietly as possible and slipped inside. Then he pressed his back to the door and stood still, holding his breath. The room outside was completely silent. He was afraid something would crash or shatter like last time, but nothing happened.

Haaa...

Yujin exhaled and sank down to the floor. What the hell did I just do?

His heart was pounding like crazy. He couldn’t believe he’d actually said all that to Winston. He’d cussed at him—actually cursed him out!

His hands were trembling violently. Yujin wrapped his arms around himself to keep them still. His vision blurred slightly from the adrenaline. But the flood of emotion didn’t leave him relieved—it left him afraid. As the rush subsided, fear crept in. He didn’t have the courage to face Winston again. If Winston blew up at him the moment he stepped out, he didn’t think he’d be able to fight back this time.

What do I do?

His body trembled for another reason now, but that fear proved unnecessary. Still sitting on the bathroom floor, leaning against the door, he heard a faint noise. A small click. The sound of a door opening and then quietly closing again. Silence returned.

Yujin hesitated, then cautiously opened the bathroom door. The large room was empty. Winston was gone.

Taking advantage of the unexpected opportunity, he hurriedly rinsed off the fluids on his body with water, didn’t even dry off properly, and rushed out of the room. He went straight back to Angela’s room without once looking back, locked the door tightly, and finally let out a long, shaking breath.

...At least I said everything I needed to say.

Lying next to his daughter, Yujin thought about it for a while before coming to a conclusion. Tomorrow’s problems can wait until tomorrow. He didn’t want to think about anything else. Exhausted to the core, Yujin soon drifted off into sleep.

“Daddy, daddy.”

It was almost lunchtime when he was finally roused by Angela shaking his body. His head still felt heavy, and he staggered as he sat up. Angela, who had climbed onto the bed, tilted her head in confusion.

“Daddy, are you sleeping with me now? Why did you sleep here?”

“Huh? Oh...”

His mind hadn’t fully woken up yet. He couldn’t think of a response and hesitated. Fortunately, his daughter quickly changed the subject.

“What’s this medicine? Is it mine? What is it?”

Startled by the rapid questions, Yujin looked down and saw the bag she was holding. Forcing his eyes to focus, he peered inside and saw medicine he didn’t recognize. He took it out and turned it over in his hands—and then something caught his eye.

Pheromone Suppressant. For Omega use.

Yujin froze, startled. He was sure he’d locked the door last night. As if to answer his confusion, Angela piped up.

“It was outside the door. Is it mine? What’s a suppressant?”

“Uh... well...”

Yujin stammered, struggling to put his thoughts together. Then it slowly dawned on him why Winston had left the room.

Did he go out to buy this? That man? Personally?

It sounded impossible. Yujin immediately dismissed the idea. This was someone who could get anything he wanted with a single snap of his fingers. There was no way Winston would drive out just to buy something like this. For him?

Ridiculous.

“This is for me. Thank you for bringing it to me, Angie.”

He gave her a kiss on the cheek and she beamed, wrapping her arms around his neck.

“But daddy, this smells.”

“Huh? Smells like what?”

Yujin hugged his daughter tightly, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Angela answered without hesitation.

“That smell. The sweet smell.”

Yujin stiffened. The child added for confirmation.

“Mr. Campbell’s smell.”

Panicked, Yujin buried his nose in the bag and sniffed a few times—but of course, he couldn’t smell anything. Blinking in confusion, he asked again cautiously.

“Are you sure, Angie? It’s really that smell?”

Angela leaned in and sniffed the bag again before quickly pulling back.

“Yup, that’s it.”

She wrinkled her nose and pinched it shut with her fingers. Yujin stared at her in stunned silence, unsure of how to react.
