Chapter 215 -215 Important Cornerstone

“So, you think computer animation has a promising future?” Something seemed to flicker in Jobs’s eyes.

“Of course, since I believe that photorealistic all-CG movies will happen, how could I not believe in the prospects of computer animation?” Adrian shrugged his shoulders, “Society is always progressing, just like color films eventually replaced black-and-white ones.”

“But you haven’t invested in computer animation, so you don’t understand how it’s made. That makes your words less convincing.” Jobs laughed heartily, as if he had caught a flaw.

“I did have such thoughts, but there was no suitable project.” Adrian spread his hands and then jokingly said to Jobs, “Unless you can introduce me to something?”

“Well, if you put it that way, I do have one.” Jobs pushed his glasses up, speaking with a casual tone.

“Really?” Adrian raised his eyebrows, showing a natural expression of keen interest.

“I have a studio that works on computer animation and develops new software, which might interest you.” Jobs paused for a moment, then added, “It has also won an Oscar for Best Animated Short Film.”

“Oscar for Best Animated Short Film?” Adrian cocked his head, “Let me think… isn’t it called Pixar?”

“Bingo!” Jobs snapped his fingers, “Allow me to admire your memory.”

“Thank you, my memory has always been very good,” Adrian said with a significant smile, “so I remember that Pixar has been losing money ever since you acquired it from Lucas.”

“That’s right,” Jobs did not deny it, “Any brand new project is losing money before making a profit. In computer animation, we’re pioneers, so losses are quite normal, and they’ve always been within the acceptable range. If NeXT hadn’t needed to expand, I would definitely not be thinking of selling it.”

“You plan to sell Pixar to scale up NeXT?” Adrian narrowed his eyes.

“Yes, after all, my business is in personal computers, and computer animation is just a side venture. However, it depends on the situation. Since its establishment, Pixar has accumulated a lot of experience and is practically ripe for the picking in computer animation production,” Jobs said coolly, “so without the right price, I wouldn’t consider it.”

Adrian stroked his chin, pretending to ponder for a few minutes, then nodded at him, “Now that you mention it, I really am interested. How about we set up a time to visit Pixar—how does tomorrow sound?”

Jobs looked at him with some surprise, and a flash of delight passed behind his round glasses, “As you wish, Ed.”

The tick-tocking of the alarm clock started, and a lotus root-like arm subsequently stretched out from inside the cup to hit it, promptly silencing it. Minutes later, Charlize, with her hair in disarray and her eyes slightly open, lifted her head looking bewildered, sighed, then rolled out of the bedcovers and stretched lazily. Her completely bare, pristine white body was incredibly seductive in this simple motion.

Just as she stretched her legs, ready to get out of bed, another arm reached out from the bedcovers, wrapped around her waist from behind, and pulled her back in.

“Good morning, my little lamb.” Adrian kissed her smooth shoulder and said with a chuckle.

“Who’s your little lamb.” Charlize retorted angrily from his embrace.

“The little lamb knows very well,” Adrian laughed heartily, his hands starting to wander over her alluring body, “On such a fine and sunny morning, why not engage in a more appropriate exercise?”

“Was last night not enough for you?” Charlize spoke in a muffled voice after struggling a bit, then stopped moving.

“Last night was last night, this is now.” Adrian’s hands were already grasping her shapely rear, which, compared to her relatively modest softness, offered a better feel with its perfect curve.

Charlize let out a couple of low moans, still making a last effort to resist, “Don’t forget, you have an appointment today.”

“Of course, I know, but it won’t take much time, right.” Adrian suddenly ceased the motion of his hands and gazed at the young lady, laughing softly, “Don’t you think it’s a terrible thing to waste such a beautiful morning?”

Looking at Adrian’s beaming face, Charlize tried hard to find something within it—impatience or anything else that could make her feel averse to him. Unfortunately, those loving and pitch-black eyes offered her none of that.

So, after clenching her teeth, she suddenly rolled over and straddled him. Her not-so-full softness turned into tempting peaches due to her leaning forward: “Let me show you what I’m capable of!”

When Charlize finally finished getting ready and came downstairs to the living room, her legs were still a bit weak.

Damn it, Ed! She thought resentfully in her heart, and even though it was with resentment, it actually didn’t contain much disgust, more like the teasing complaints between lovers. Charlize quickly realized this and sighed softly.

If it hadn’t been so hard to find a job like this, if it weren’t for the fear of quitting too soon and not being eligible for a letter of recommendation, I would have quit long ago! She continued to tell herself this in her mind, but she was well aware that it was largely self-consoling. While indeed this had been the reason for her endurance for a long time, it had now lost its persuasive power.

No, no, no, it hadn’t lost its persuasive power, it just wasn’t as important anymore. Charlize argued with herself in her mind but soon sighed again. I must be out of my mind to have made that kind of agreement with this bastard.

Just thinking about that day made her want to facepalm.

“If I need you, I will naturally come to you, but at other times, please don’t bother me.” She had even managed to say it so confidently at the time!

Well, she admitted, while Adrian was an absolute bastard, he was not someone you could hate. Especially when he raised his eyebrows, looked at her with that knowing gaze, and added a bit of a smirk, all the harsh words would turn into tease, not to mention… Charlize involuntarily furrowed her brow as certain images flashed through her mind, leaving her feeling disgusted and sighing.

At least, the pleasure of making love with him could let her forget everything… Forget it, don’t think about these things anymore; it will only make my thoughts messy. Charlize rubbed the sides of her head. After sitting on the sofa for a few minutes, she stood up and walked towards the kitchen.

“Good morning, Mrs. Galen.” Charlize greeted the middle-aged woman in the kitchen with slight surprise, not expecting the housekeeper to have come so early.

“Good morning, Miss Charlize.” Mrs. Galen nodded, responding without much warmth, “If Mr. Adrian comes down, please ask him to sit down in the dining room for a moment, breakfast will be ready soon.”

“Thank you, I got it.” Charlize was about to say something more but looking at Mrs. Galen’s indifferent face, she just shrugged and turned to leave.

She knew that this was just a habitual reaction from Mrs. Galen, not a sign of dissatisfaction towards her. Adrian’s ex-girlfriend had left too deep and favorable an impression on Mrs. Galen, so she couldn’t help but be resistant towards the women Adrian now brought home who had been intimate with him.

Ed’s ex-girlfriend… Was her name Kate? Who exactly is she? Charlize couldn’t help but wonder, but she immediately knocked on her head to remind herself not to bother with these thoughts. After staying a year or half a year, when she was no longer so hesitant, she could quit and leave. Was there any need to care about these things?

Of course, as to whether this thought was a self-consolation or something else, Charlize chose to ignore it.

The breakfast was still very rich: coffee, vegetable salad, bacon, fried eggs. Mrs. Galen’s cooking was good, if a bit greasy, and not exactly in line with the guidelines for a nutritious breakfast. But for Adrian, it was quite good, certainly better than eating something undercooked—he never liked steak, veal was already the bottom line for him.

After breakfast, a tidily dressed Adrian immediately left the house; he still had important things to accomplish today. If not for the memories of Jobs and Pixar, he might have been swayed by Jobs’ talk last night. Years of losses had made Jobs lose faith in Pixar and computer animation. After all, his original purchase of Pixar was for its software and hardware development capabilities, and if not for the high asking price, it would have been sold long ago.

On the other hand, Jobs was indeed an outstanding businessman. He spun years of loss into a necessary path and finally posed as if he would never sell unless it was for the price he wanted, which unconsciously raised Pixar’s status in the minds of potential buyers.

What kind of surprise will you give me, Steve? Adrian murmured to himself, stroking his chin.

“Come to think of it, this is the first time I’ve seen you so excited about something other than making movies,” Charlize, who was sitting beside him arranging documents, suddenly said.

“There’s a lot you don’t know, Charli,” Adrian said with a grin, “Stay with me longer, and you’ll find I have many more surprises for you.”

Charlize shrugged, seemingly oblivious to his double entendre: “You seem to value this studio highly.”

“Yes,” Adrian nodded, “Pixar will be one of the important cornerstones of my Empire.”

At this point in time, nobody knew what Pixar represented, nor did anyone believe in how far computer animation would progress in the future, even Jobs, who had talked at length about new computer technology the night before.

This was the advantage of being reborn.

Yes, Pixar would be one of the very important cornerstones. Just think about Disney’s scale of development now; what was at the base of its beginnings. Of course, Pixar alone wouldn’t be enough; Adrian already had a complete plan in his mind. (To be continued, if you wish to know more, please visit www.qidian.com.
