Chapter 1364: 923 Amitabha Buddha

His fifth life was that of a turtle servant...

His sixth life, he was the young master of a wealthy family, living a life of luxury.

His seventh life, he was also a scion of wealth, but fell from grace while still young...

His eighth life found him born into a family of farmers, where he eventually died at the hands of bandits.

His ninth life, which is his current one, was born into a wealthy family, never worrying for food or clothes, yet he developed a love for reading from an early age. Coming to Luoyang was to seek a great scholar as his master.

The vision should have ended there, but Jiang Chen did not stop; instead, he continued to use his Divine Ability to peer into the future of Amitabha Buddha.

The River of Time and Space flowed on majestically, relentlessly surging forward, and soon, the future of Amitabha Buddha unfolded before Jiang Chen’s eyes...

In Luoyang, he kept sending out letters, wishing to apprentice himself to a great scholar, but alas, because of his merchant background, he was despised by the scholars, and no one wished to accept him as a disciple.

Then, at that moment, the fate of Amitabha Buddha began to fork, splitting into two possible outcomes.

One path led him to meet Huang Jiao on his way back home, who took him as a disciple, setting him on the path of Immortal Dao. However, due to his mediocre talent, he struggled to make significant progress in his cultivation and eventually died after exhausting his lifespan.

The other path had him encounter a benevolent Taoist on his way home who gave him guidance to seek the true scriptures in the west.

But how could he, a mere mortal with a mortal body, traverse mountains and rivers? He eventually died of illness in the wilderness.

The River of Time and Space surged on, and soon, the tenth reincarnation of Amitabha Buddha came into Jiang Chen’s view. Again, there were diverging paths leading to two different outcomes.

On one path, Amitabha Buddha continued practicing Immortal Dao. Although his talent was still insufficient, with the accumulation of experiences from his past life, he barely managed to embark on the path. But ultimately, due to his poor aptitude, even though he entered the Tao, he couldn’t achieve immortality.

On the second path, Amitabha Buddha continued his journey westward. Although he was still of mortal flesh, he reincarnated near the place of his death, ensuring that his previous journey was not in vain.

Like in his previous life, he died on the way west.

The River of Time and Space carried on. The eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth... incarnation of Amitabha Buddha, life after life, unfolded before Jiang Chen’s eyes.

And these futures were undeniably bifurcated into two paths: one toward Immortal Dao, and the other toward Buddhism Dao. The outcomes of these paths were already sealed the moment they diverged.

In the realm of Immortal Dao, after countless lives of accumulation, Amitabha Buddha finally amassed enough foundational strength to attain the Dao Venerable Realm of Innate Dao Sovereign, making leaps and bounds in the future to become a titan of Immortal Dao.

As for Buddhism Dao, Amitabha Buddha traveled each life a portion of the way until, after dying countless times, he finally reached Spiritual Mountain in the west.

Atop Spiritual Mountain, Amitabha Buddha gathered the remains of the perished Buddhas of the fallen mountain and absorbed their relics into his own body, directly realizing the realm of Supreme Buddhism, his cultivation comparable to that of the Buddha himself.

"From where would there be bodies at Spiritual Mountain?"

Upon seeing the future of Immortal Dao, Jiang Chen just smiled and said nothing.

Were he a high practitioner of Immortal Dao, he too would arrange such a destiny for Amitabha Buddha because Amitabha Buddha was born to be the master of Buddhism Dao and the symbol of Buddhist Fate. Bringing him into the Mystic Sect would surely draw the Buddhist door’s Fate back to their fold.

Thus, the grand wish for the Buddhist door to return to the Mystic Sect was effortlessly fulfilled.

With such a great temptation before him, any Saint of the Mystic Sect would inevitably take action upon Amitabha Buddha to integrate him into their Sect; it was an inevitability.

If such was the doing of Immortal Dao, Jiang Chen could still understand. However, he found the future concerning the Buddhist door somewhat incomprehensible. With the Buddhas of Spiritual Mountain already perished, where would the bodies come from for Amitabha Buddha to gather?

"Western Twin Saints, are you betting on both sides?"

Jiang Chen pondered in silence.

Without a doubt, this future of the Buddhist door must be the work of the Western Twin Saints.

"Don’t put all your eggs in one basket," understood deeply by the Western Twin Saints; thus, while betting on Jiang Chen, they also placed bets on the likes of Sakyamuni Buddha and others.

If Jiang Chen won, Amitabha Buddha would become the master of the Buddhist door, leading the west to great prosperity, and of course, the two Saints of the west naturally welcomed this outcome.

But if Jiang Chen lost, and the likes of the Buddha won, that didn’t matter either. Having planned ahead, the two Saints of the west had brought Amitabha Buddha into the Buddhist door, allowing Amitabha Buddha to take on the role of the Buddha’s successor and continue to enhance the west’s strength.

In any case, Amitabha Buddha was the key—as long as he was there, the west would thrive. It didn’t matter which faction Amitabha Buddha belonged to; what mattered was that the west could flourish.

The two Saints of the west cared only about the outcome. As long as the west could prosper, they wouldn’t mind who led the Buddhist faith, even if it wasn’t one of their disciples.

"The Saints can do so much, it truly is astonishing."

Jiang Chen withdrew his gaze and slowly said. Despite having extinguished all the Buddhas of Spiritual Mountain and reforged them into the Divine Artifact Eightfold Pagoda, with a single thought, a person could bring them back into the world.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be a future for Amitabha Buddha that involved gathering the corpses of countless Buddhas and achieving enlightenment in one step.

However, if one were to speak of being impressive, that title belonged to Jiang Chen. Even a Saint couldn’t plan someone’s future to ensure they attained the realm of a Great Divine Transcendent with absolute certainty.

Looking at Amitabha Buddha’s future, whether in the Buddhism Dao or the Immortal Dao, the lowest he could reach was the complete realm of a Quasi-Saint. Was this the work of a Saint? No, it was Jiang Chen’s ability.

Since the Amitabha Buddha created by Jiang Chen possessed the potential to become a Great Divine Transcendent, it was only after he was transformed and taught by a Saint that he could be nurtured into the powerful being that is the complete Quasi-Saint.

"Even trying to snatch disciples, those Saints really lose more face the older they get."

Jiang Chen couldn’t help but feel angry. Amitabha Buddha was, after all, his disciple, a being he had created, akin to his own child.

He personally sent Amitabha Buddha to be reborn, wishing him to endure the vicissitudes of Reincarnation, to achieve enlightenment amidst the mortal world, and to comprehend the true essence of Buddhism, thus becoming one of the world’s most formidable masters.

Everything was arranged perfectly, but unexpectedly, seeing Amitabha Buddha’s exceptional aptitude, the Saints decided to guide him without a word, eager to take him under their wings.

Such open and audacious poaching of disciples was akin to undermining Jiang Chen to his face, completely disregarding him.

In the past, disregarding Jiang Chen was one thing, and nothing much would have come of it. After all, no matter how capable Jiang Chen was, what could he do to a Saint?

But now, things were different. Jiang Chen’s status had risen; he was on par with the Saints. This meant that the Saints’ disregard was now a problem, tying a karmic connection with him.

In the future, disputes would be inevitable.

"Break for me!"

Jiang Chen’s gaze became cold, and then, an invisible Power surged from within him, shattering all the arrangements the Saints had placed upon Amitabha Buddha.

In that instant, Amitabha Buddha’s Fate was guided back onto the right track, his future changing once again.

Following that, he successfully became a disciple of a great scholar, traveling the world after his studies and eventually becoming a great scholar himself. This was his destiny in this life—to become a great scholar and educate the world.

And his subsequent Reincarnations would involve continued struggles within the mortal realm, life after life, until he could comprehend the true essence of Buddhism, awaken his True Spirit, transcend the mortal world, and recover his original self.

"Since we’ve met, I might as well lend Amitabha Buddha a hand, to help him transcend sooner rather than later."

Thinking it over, Jiang Chen followed Amitabha Buddha and walked forward together.

Amitabha Buddha’s journey to discipleship was not smooth; he encountered many setbacks before he finally succeeded in becoming the disciple of the great scholar. Jiang Chen had no intention of interfering with his life, yet having encountered him, he felt compelled to offer assistance.

Besides, Jiang Chen had a treasure he wished to give Amitabha Buddha.

Jiang Chen couldn’t always be by Amitabha Buddha’s side but, considering the current circumstances, Saints from both the east and the west were watching him. It was possible that if Jiang Chen was not careful, Amitabha Buddha could once again fall into the Saints’ calculations.

Therefore, he intended to give Amitabha Buddha a treasure to help him avoid the machinations of the Saints.
