John Wicked: Endlessly Evolving My Pet Monsters-Chapter 30: Scorched Grove, Blazeborn Stalker
Chapter 30 - Scorched Grove, Blazeborn Stalker
After wrapping up the camp as best as they could, John and Yuna put all their pets into soul space except for Pymon, Doku, Starry, and the other five Young-stage eagles.
John mounted Pymon while Yuna mounted Doku as they flew towards the Scorched Grove. Starry flew alongside her babies.
There were other kids flying atop their Silverwind Eagles, while a few had Dark Silverwind Eagles as well.
But no one else had Abyssal Darkwind Eagles, which were ultra rare.
However, now that Starry has birthed two Abyssal Dark Wind Eagles, one male and one female, with Yuna taking the male as her pet, the female would be able to mate with another Silverwind Eagle, which could birth more Abyssal Darkwind Eagles.
John wanted to put Starry and the babies in his Monster Paradise, but that would arouse suspicion, so he couldn't do that for now.
He had also changed his mind about selling the second Abyssal Darkwind Eagle after he got Monster Paradise, but he hadn't told Yuna about it yet, though he felt he should tell her sooner rather than later.
"Yuna, I know that the female Abyssal Darkwind Eagle will sell for a lot, but I don't want to sell her," John said. "I'll keep her and pay you half of her worth."
"Eh?" Yuna turned her head to him several meters away on Pymon, surprised. "But don't you need money? It will help you. I already thought about not accepting the half and letting you keep all of the money, you know?"
After all, she was not exactly in need of Essence Coins, as her father was a big merchant.
"Nope, I will earn money in other ways. I got ideas," John smiled. "So just let me keep Starry and others."
"Well...if that's what you want, then I don't mind."
"Thanks."
As they flew for half an hour, they arrived at the Scorched Grove area and descended.
"I wonder if that guy got his Blazeborn Stalker?" Yuna chuckled as she remembered Max and Maxon.
"If he patiently waited here and made himself and his pet reach Silver rank, then yeah."
The Scorched Grove area was as its name suggested. Due to some sort of influx of fire spiritual power, which continued to remain in cycle thanks to the fire and fire-related attribute monsters living here, this area was scorched, as in, the plants, trees, the ground, and everything was fire-attributed.
This area was a pure exploration area with no place for Tamers to rest because of its condition. But nearby this area was a rather good place for camping, which had another batch of kids camped there who would go into the Scorched Grove area for training and capturing Monsters while going to the neighboring area for rest.
A Blazeborn Stalker could appear at night, and since it was a very rare elemental-type Monster, John and Yuna could see some students roaming in the night as they flew over the Scorched Grove while descending slowly.
"Let's stop here for a bit. I saw that guy stalking nearby a lava pond," John said with a chuckle as he told Pymon to descend.
Yuna followed up as she also commanded Doku. Starry and the other eagles stayed up in the air and perched on a tall Ashwood Black tree instead of entering the hot, uncomfortable area.
"You're right." Yuna blinked as she saw Max sitting on an Earth-elemental flat rock that Maxon created behind a tree.
The tree's trunk had a hole from which Max was observing the pond while Maxon, who had ranked up to Silver-rank, was picking its nose nearby, clearly bored.
Hearing the sounds, Max turned around with a fierce expression as if he would kill anyone who approached him, but when he saw it was John and Lily, his eyes lit up.
"Yo, you guys are here."
Max spoke with a heavy whisper, not wanting to be loud.
John and Lily put away their Pets into the storage space and walked towards him.

"Don't make a loud sound," Max whispered as they neared. "I am stalking a Blazeborn Stalker."
He then told Maxon to create two more rocks for John and Lily to sit on while refreshing his own since it became hotter.
After the duo sat down, Lily whispered, "Is it in that lava pond?"
"Yeah. I almost had it yesterday, but that sneaky bastard escaped."
"Oh yeah, if it escapes into a lava pond, you can't do anything," John nodded.
"It will come out soon," Max firmly said as he turned his head back to the pond. "And I am going to tame it this time."
"How many Blazeborn Stalkers are there?" John asked.
"No idea, but no more than five, I am sure. One lucky bastard even captured it. I can't waste any more time. I captured another Monster to survive better and reached Silver rank for one more pet space to capture this Blazeborn Stalker."
"Oh? Which one did you capture?" Yuna curiously asked.
"Pyroshade Boar," Max replied while intently staring at the pond. "It's pretty good. With my Silver-rank Maxon here and Pyroshade Boar, that Blazeborn Stalker is mine."
"Don't tell me..." Yuna blinked. "You're going to use a bait-and-block strategy?"
"Hehe, exactly."
John knew about it. A pretty simple strategy. Putting one's own Pet Monster as bait and then blocking the target monster with the second Pet to capture it.
"Shsss, no more sound. It's out," Max whispered, but excitement got his volume a bit high. Fortunately, Blazeborn Stalker didn't hear anything, as it was fifty meters away from their location.
Max summoned his Pyroshade Boar and commanded it to stroll towards the lava pond from the east.
Blazeborn Stalker liked to eat fire-attributed monsters more, and they were apex predators of this area at night.
John and Lily also peeked at the lava pond as a two-meter-tall creature without legs but having long arms with four large claws floated out of the lava pond.
Its head had a sharp beak and big egg-like black eyes with fiery orange wisps inside.
