Insect Tamer's Ascension-Chapter 125 - . Is soloing a boar doable? (2)
"A new way…" Theo muttered as he saw the boar move its face left and right when it went past the pollen.
Just a second later, its eyes widened, and it tried stopping and stomped its hind legs everywhere.
'That is not what I expected, but it's my chance,' Theo thought and gave the mental command again. The mantis's forelegs started shining yet again before it became a blur and slashed at the neck of the boar again.
Another deep gash formed on the neck, and a slightly screechy sound came when the attack hit.
Theo realized that if the mantis had attacked right at the previous injury, they might have already been done with this fight.
'Hide again and attack at the same spot again,' Theo gave the command and saw the mantis hop to the right, and the next second, it could not be seen again.
The boar was already unparalyzed, yet it squealed again and again at the injuries that it had faced.
It looked at Theo with its bloodshot eyes.
SQUEEEAKKKK
The pig roared again, but this time, its tusks got covered with a light shade of red.
Theo realized what it was right away and gulped. The boar had started using its skills too.
He looked at Clara and showed her hand signs again, which meant, 'Don't do anything.'
Clara was worried and confident at the same time. From the moment he had stepped inside that clearing, she had seen how confident he was in his abilities.
Even dodging that attack at first was something she had already expected from him.
The boar started moving forward yet again, and Theo went in the same stance. He waited for the boar to come to him. It might have activated its ability, but it was all the same if it didn't hit him.
But right at the third or fourth big step that the boar took, Theo saw a bright small light flash toward it and vanish. His focus did not dwindle, and he still waited for the boar to come toward him.
The boar stopped abruptly and looked forward toward Theo with a straight face—no squeal, not a single sound of any kind.
The wound to the left opened properly, and blood started gushing out as if it were an open tap.
Theo saw the scene with satisfaction, yet concern at the same time.
Clara's boar was looking at the scene too, and seeing the mantis just make a final blow toward a beast from its species—it was bound to be an eye-opener.
The boar still kept looking forward without moving its body at all until its front leg started limping.
THUD
The left front leg fell to its knee, and then the right one. A last small grunt came from it before the boar tried coming up once more, yet failed miserably.
The blood was still pouring out crazily while everyone just watched the beast fall down fully now.
Its body moved up and down as it took deep breaths. Theo found it weird. During all his fights with beasts till now, not one had taken this long to die.
It was painful to say the least, and not something he wanted to do to a creature whose territory he had come to on his own accord.

The beast finally stopped breathing, and at the same time, Theo got the message. Yet he felt a light bad taste in his mouth.
The mantis didn't care and went to the pool of blood on the ground in curiosity, before it took a sip and didn't stop.
Theo looked toward Clara and the boar and awkwardly smiled.
"Congratulations on your first boar kill, young master."
While Theo was thinking about all the nonsense, Clara spoke with a genuine smile and came forward with her two beasts.
The boar and the pup looked at the mantis drinking the blood from the pool that was still constantly being supplied through the deep wound.
"Is everything okay?" Clara asked when Theo didn't say anything.
"Yeah… I am just thinking about how I made some rash decisions this time, Clara," Theo said, yet his eyes went to Clara's boar again.
Clara understood in one go, and without any mental command, the boar did the same. There was a type of maturity in his eyes that could only come with time and experience.
Suddenly, the boar snorted, getting everyone's attention, and started moving toward the boar's corpse slowly. Theo looked at him with curiosity before his eyes widened.
PUCHI
"…What?" he questioned as he saw the boar put his tusks inside the dead boar's skin, tearing it in one go, and a little up and right from the tusk, and it opened completely.
It went down and took a small bite from the flesh and looked at Theo with the same old eyes.
When Theo met his eyes, he went from feeling awkward to satisfied that the boar was still okay.
"He looks out for you a lot, young master. He won't do something like this without a command, and I didn't give one," Clara tried clarifying, and Theo nodded.
"I know," Theo stated with a smile.
The boar came back to them with his mouth filled with flesh that it kept chewing casually. Clara wanted to scold him, but couldn't at the same time.
The pup whined while sniffing the boar's face again and again while looking at Clara for permission, who just sighed.
Theo chuckled and responded, "He can eat as much as he wants too, Clara. As you can see, Mantis can't eat everything on its own. It is still at the blood on the ground."
Clara nodded instantly and let the pup, who was tugging at her leather trousers, eat the dead boar too.
"Are we hunting more?" Clara asked and Theo grinned.
"Yeah, it's still the morning."
Theo was confident, but he was clueless about one thing— that high luck stat of his introduced him to fortuitous encounters every now and then.
But if these 'encounters' were safe or not was a totally different thing.
"But before going forward, there is something here that we have to dig out, young master."
They were in for a ride yet again, and Theo couldn't have been more unready.
