Infinity, The Arcade Age-Chapter 341: The Awkward Wild Wolf
Chapter 341 - 341: The Awkward Wild Wolf
At night, with a light rain falling, Qin Ming and Kasamoto Eri—finally having reunited with Wild Wolf—arrived at Dr. Plague's secret base.
Wild Wolf, relying on his looks, managed to get the two past several checkpoints, and deep within the base he communicated with the legendary Dr. Plague.
Through surveillance cameras, Dr. Plague saw the corpses of Jack and Mustafa, and his eyes lit up. He quickly notified the guards, ordering them to escort the group into the laboratory.
As Qin Ming followed the guards deeper inside, his gaze swept continuously around the area. The more he looked, the more shocked his expression became.
On both sides of the corridor, countless petri dishes were arranged, each containing variously shaped modified humans.
However, the vast majority of these modified subjects were deformities; their forms looked incredibly bizarre.
It was clear that the so-called perfect fusion bodies were only a rare few. Most experimental subjects could not achieve compatibility with dinosaur genes—in some cases, they even died on the spot.
What was most striking was that Dr. Plague seemed to have never considered how to stabilize the effects of the drugs; he was merely in a constant state of intensifying their potency.
As for the success rate of fusing these new drugs? That wasn't his concern at all. With so many people in the world, some would surely survive.
The leaders under Dr. Plague's command—the various BOSSes with differing abilities—were just that: the lucky few.
With a creak, a mechanical door slowly opened. In a laboratory filled with all sorts of instruments, an extremely gaunt, bald old man with his hands clasped behind his back appeared before the group.
After giving a disdainful glance at the two ruffians—Jack and Mustafa—who had repeatedly disrupted and sabotaged his grand experimental plans, he quickly withdrew his gaze from their heads and turned to look at Qin Ming.
Staring at Qin Ming's unusually tall and imposing figure, the old Dr. Plague strode over. Suddenly, he reached out and squeezed Qin Ming's muscles, examining him while exclaiming,
"Not bad! A powerful physique! Bulging muscles! Wild Wolf wasn't wrong—indeed, you are the perfect experimental subject! I've long lacked a suitable injection target for the Tyrannosaurus Potion! Who would have thought you'd just present yourself on a silver platter! Excellent! Commander Wild Wolf, your mission was executed superbly! I am very satisfied!"
Dr. Plague's words left the three on the opposite side momentarily stunned. Before Qin Ming and his companions could react, the doors around them swung open, and a large number of armed soldiers emerged, their guns menacingly pointed in their direction.
Among the crowd, even two burly men bearing dinosaur-like features strode up behind Dr. Plague with fierce glares.
Seeing this unexpected turn of events, Kasamoto Eri's pupils shrank. Instantly, she reacted by darting to hide behind Qin Ming, simultaneously raising her gun and pointing it at Wild Wolf standing off to the side.
"You deceived us!"
Barely as soon as Kasamoto Eri finished speaking, Dr. Plague—who had taken two steps back—broke into a broad smile.
"This isn't deception; it's simply enticement. Wild Wolf, I am very satisfied with this experimental subject. I will keep my promise: if the experiment is successful, you will definitely receive a dose of the Tyrannosaurus Potion."
At these words, Kasamoto Eri, already aware that their identities had been exposed, being an intelligence agent herself, immediately aimed her gun at Wild Wolf's head, ready to take him out first.
After all, among everyone present—aside from the final boss—Wild Wolf was the most threatening. If he were allowed to merge with and summon a dinosaur, even if she and Qin Ming joined forces, he might not be so easily disposed of. That would be a real problem.
But before Kasamoto Eri could pull the trigger, a large hand suddenly reached out and grabbed the barrel of her gun.
Startled, Kasamoto Eri looked up and saw Qin Ming, his face set in a stern expression, gently shaking his head.
After forcefully pressing down on her weapon to halt her attack, Qin Ming then turned to Wild Wolf.
Seeing Wild Wolf's panicked expression as he tried to offer an explanation, Qin Ming waved his hand, signaling that no further words were needed.
After doing all that, he then looked up at Dr. Plague across from him, his eyes laced with amusement.
"An inciting tactic? Such a hackneyed ploy—who are you trying to scare?"
At these words, Dr. Plague's eyebrows twitched. He glanced at Qin Ming in surprise and slowly furrowed his brows.
"Hiss—so you noticed after all. How did you figure it out? Could it be that there was a loophole in my words?"
"Whether there was a loophole, I don't know—I never believed a word of it."
Staring at the final big BOSS before him, Qin Ming shook his head and let out a light, mirthless laugh, then suddenly nudged Wild Wolf with his lips.
"You say that he's cooperating with you, that he's one of yours—intentionally luring us into the trap?"
"Yeah, right. No matter what he says, he's the organization's number two, and he cares deeply about the Tyrannosaurus Potion. He'd do anything for it—so what? That sounds suspicious, doesn't it?"
"Of course it is! He's a coward with a stupid brain! A dull-witted person can't act, and a timid person wouldn't dare act. If I couldn't beat him in a fight, do you really believe he could act so convincingly? I could finish him off with a few punches up close—yet he dares to put on this act with me? He even voluntarily deactivates the dinosaur parasitic state and struts around in front of me! Are you questioning his cowardice or doubting my fists?"
Slowly grinning and flashing a row of white teeth, Qin Ming's smile turned ferocious.
"Old man, I have little faith in him, but I'm very confident in the deterrence of my current appearance. No one would risk their life acting up in front of me—and act so casually, either! No one!"
Hearing this, Dr. Plague turned to glance at Wild Wolf, who stood beside Qin Ming with an embarrassingly awkward expression. With a sudden hint of melancholy, Dr. Plague reached out and rubbed his forehead.
"Damn, I was so busy thinking his low IQ and unique abilities made him easier to control, I completely forgot that this guy's IQ is just as low when he's with others."
Wild Wolf's betrayal had been discovered by Dr. Plague long, long ago. After all, that kid was always on the verge of having "I'm gonna kill you" written all over his face—he even went out of his way to invite him for meals, hoping to catch him alone and take him out in secret. It wasn't until Wild Wolf personally witnessed Dr. Plague transform into his perfect dinosaur form and effortlessly tear apart a BOSS-level dinosaur that he finally fell in line.If it weren't for Wild Wolf's extraordinary importance, Dr. Plague could have killed him ten times over!
When it was discovered that Slyne and Morg—sent out on a mission—were all wiped out, with only Wild Wolf surviving and returning to base with two unfamiliar outsiders, Dr. Plague immediately understood that his enemy's heart was far from yielding. They were determined to keep messing with him, and moreover, they'd somehow acquired two helpers.Dr. Plague had originally intended to use their mutual distrust against each other—a dog-eat-dog scheme—but his plan fell apart almost as soon as it was set in motion, and the failure was as blunt as could be.All because the other side assumed that Wild Wolf was a coward, and knowing full well he couldn't beat him, he dared not act in front of him!Is that reason simple? Simple as can be—and reliable too! In fact, if Dr. Plague were in Wild Wolf's shoes, he wouldn't dare come out and act if he'd already harbored murderous intent; he simply wouldn't risk it.
Wild Wolf, for his part, would rather bring his men into the base and battle Dr. Plague inside than venture out alone to trick him. It's all because he doesn't dare face Dr. Plague one-on-one, fearing that if the truth were exposed, he'd be beaten to death! With an exasperated expression, Dr. Plague looked at Wild Wolf—never expecting that this low-IQ fellow could be so useful.Sensing Dr. Plague's gaze, Wild Wolf's face darkened, and he finally exploded:
"Look at what you're staring at, old man! I've been holding in my anger over you for ages! Day in, day out, you call me a lowlife and an idiot! I, as the organization's number two, have no shame!"
"You're number two because I designated you as such."

"Didn't expect it, did you? I've brought my men here to kill you!"
"I expected nothing less."
"See that guy over there? That's my new big brother, Hyena! One of him can take on four of you! Let's see how you live today!"
"Your new big brother despises you for your lack of brains."
"You! Big brother! Kill him! Smash his lousy machine to pieces!"
Clearly, Wild Wolf, who wasn't much for brains, had long been despised by Dr. Plague. Now, he was determined to settle both new and old grudges.Qin Ming, meanwhile, silently scanned the surroundings and, taking in the large number of members from the hunting organization on both sides, maintained an expression of calm. After all, his special abilities made him immune to the "swarm tactic."Since the ambush plan had already been discovered, he was prepared to launch a full-on assault—he had been mentally ready for this from the start. And why was he prepared for an all-out attack in advance? Let's just say that this ambush plan was Wild Wolf's idea...
Sometimes, the world is truly unfair. The wise exhaust their brains planning elaborate schemes, only to be outdone by brutes who, relying on high innate talent, mindlessly pummel their way through.Wild Wolf was clearly the latter—a man with no brains who managed to make a name for himself solely on raw talent! As for Qin Ming, he was something of a half–Wild Wolf himself. He wasn't known for his intellect either—at best, he could come up with a few crooked ideas in a pinch, when truly pressed for time.In truth, they were already doing well. In some worlds, major villains who've painstakingly planned for decades or even centuries can be defeated for no reason at all by invocations of "bondage, friendship, justice" and the like.Qin Ming and Wild Wolf might not be brainiacs, but at least they had the strength. And what about those other guys? A protagonist aura? With both arms dropping and a thick blood mist suddenly surrounding him, Qin Ming roared as he prepared for combat:
"Full assault! Kill him!"
Hearing Qin Ming's roar, Kasamoto Eri's spirits soared. She immediately yanked off her jacket to reveal a cache of hand grenades and C4 explosives hidden underneath, causing the approaching members of the hunting organization to hastily retreat in panic. With one person unleashing his skill and the other flashing explosives, both were now fully ready to strike. Across from them, Dr. Plague's forehead veins bulged as he quickly activated his internal dinosaur genes in preparation for a transformation. But then—suddenly—several huge crashes rang out!In the next second, the walls around them collapsed! Countless dinosaurs roared as they burst out of their cages! Even some of the genetically modified mutants abruptly awoke, charging headlong through the petri dishes!Inside the room... no, to be precise, in the entire building, every single dinosaur went berserk!Cries of agony filled the air as scores of dinosaurs clashed with the members of the hunting organization. This sudden turn of events left everyone utterly shocked.
They all turned their heads in unison, only to discover that Wild Wolf had, inexplicably, procured a wheelchair and was sitting in it, his eyes glowing with an otherworldly light.A dazzling, one-time-use, special-grade item! An artifact from the X-Men universe! Professor X's wheelchair! Its effect was to multiply one's mental attributes by ten for ten minutes—but it forbade the use of any offensive skills and prevented the user from leaving the wheelchair! This was an item of extremely high quality and severe restrictions, yet its effect was terrifying. And for Wild Wolf, in certain circumstances, this was his ultimate artifact!
Dinosaur control capacity! Temporarily increased to: 40 dinosaurs!
