Infinite System Inheritor Return From The Abyss-Chapter 385 - 383: Yoora Vs. Nayoung
As they were starting to rest and settle down after the long training, Nayoung suddenly sat up straight. Her eyes sparkled as if she just got an idea.
She looked around and raised her voice loud enough for everyone to hear. "Hey! I just thought of something!" she shouted with a grin.
Yoora and Hannah were still sparring nearby, their movements fast and sharp, but they slowed down a little to glance at Nayoung. Both of them weren't even breathing hard, clearly not tired yet.
"I was thinking," Nayoung continued, standing up and placing her hands on her hips, "what if we make this training more exciting by having something like a ranking system?"
She pointed toward Yoora and smirked. "Like… Yoora is the top 1 right now, right? She's the strongest and most experienced here."
Yoora raised an eyebrow but didn't deny it. Hannah blinked and turned her head slightly toward Seojun, curious about what he would say.
Seojun didn't immediately respond, but he crossed his arms and gave Nayoung a small nod. "Not a bad idea," he said calmly. "Competition can be useful if used correctly."
Minseok, still stretching his legs nearby, chuckled a little and said, "A ranking? Sounds like a game."
Nayoung pouted at him. "Hey! It's not just for fun. It's to boost our inspiration, okay?" she said, tapping her forehead. "Having a goal is important when you're training. If we all try to reach the top, we'll push harder!"
She pointed at Yoora again and grinned wide. "But of course, for Yoora to keep her top spot… she'll have to defeat all of us."
Yoora paused mid-motion, and Hannah stopped as well, blinking a few times.
"…Are you serious about that, Nayoung?" Hannah asked, tilting her head.
"Yep!" Nayoung nodded quickly. "We'll fight one-on-one. Whoever beats Yoora becomes the new top 1. Simple, right?"
Yoora slowly stood straight, brushing a bit of dust off her arm. She looked at Nayoung and gave her a small smirk. "So you're all going to come after me now?"
Nayoung laughed. "Obviously! You're the final boss!"
Minseok scratched his head. "I guess I'll be rank… six?"
Everyone laughed a little, even Jinhyu, who was still sitting and drinking water.
"But don't worry, Minseok," Nayoung added, smiling. "We'll climb up together. One step at a time."
Seojun finally spoke again. "If you're serious about this ranking idea, then treat it with respect. This isn't just about titles. You're here to grow."
Everyone nodded, even Yoora.
"So," Seojun continued, "we'll keep an unofficial ranking based on performance. But don't forget—this is still training. Winning doesn't mean you're better overall. Learn from each other."
"Yes, Professor!" the students replied in unison.
Yoora cracked her knuckles and looked around. "Alright then. Who wants to try first?"
Everyone looked at each other, quiet for a moment.
Then Nayoung raised her hand with a huge grin. "I'll go! I came up with this idea, so it's only fair I challenge you first!"
Yoora smiled. "I accept."
Seojun stood back and gave them space. "Begin when ready."
After getting Seojun's approval, Nayoung suddenly stepped forward and dragged her foot along the ground, drawing a large circle in the dirt. Everyone looked at her.
"This will be our ring," she said, still drawing. "If someone steps outside the circle, they lose. Also… no mana, no weapons, only hand-to-hand."
She then turned to Seojun and pointed. "You'll be the judge, Professor! Make sure Yoora won't cheat!"
Yoora raised an eyebrow. "I don't think I even need to cheat," she muttered under her breath, sounding amused.
Minseok blinked. "You're really doing this?"
"Yup!" Nayoung grinned, hands on her hips. "Let's see what we can do with just our bodies."
Once the circle was drawn, Nayoung stepped inside and bounced on her feet lightly, full of energy. Yoora casually walked into the circle as well, brushing some hair from her face with a relaxed look.
From the side, Hannah clapped softly. "Go Nayoung! You can do it!"
Yoora glanced at her and chuckled. "Isn't I'm the one supposed to be cheered on?"
Nayoung laughed, stretching her arms. "You don't need a cheer, Yoora. I need it now!"
Yoora grinned. "Yeah, cheer Nayoung more."
Nayoung tilted her head slightly. "Seems like you already know who'll win."
Yoora gave a small smile. "Maybe."
The tension in the air shifted as both girls took their fighting stance. Seojun raised his hand. "Ready… begin."
The moment the word left his mouth, Nayoung suddenly kicked the dirt hard. A small cloud of dust rose between them, swirling in the air.
"Oh? Copying me, huh," Yoora murmured, remembering how she used the same trick earlier on Hannah.
But Nayoung didn't stop there. She moved fast—kicking up the dirt again and again as she shifted her position. The dust thickened, covering the ground in a light fog that made movement hard to follow.
Yoora's expression changed a little. Her senses didn't feel as sharp. Something felt… off.
"I blocked your awakening sense," Seojun suddenly said calmly from the outside of the ring, arms crossed. "Now it's a fair fight."
Yoora blinked, but she didn't complain. She simply adjusted her stance.
Inside the circle, Nayoung kept moving, her foot brushing and kicking at the ground in quick patterns. The swirling dust began to make it hard to tell where her exact position was. She crouched low and rushed to the side.
Yoora squinted, waiting. Her reaction time was fast, but without her usual sense, it felt like she was blindfolded.
A faint sound behind her—Yoora spun and lifted her arm, blocking a quick strike from Nayoung's elbow. The hit wasn't strong pushing Nayoung back a little.
Nayoung stepped away and kicked up more dust. She circled around again, using wide footwork to create more confusion. Yoora's eyes narrowed as she stayed low, trying to rely on sound and movement alone.
Nayoung jumped in again, this time faking a kick to the left. Yoora moved to block—but it was a feint. Nayoung twisted and aimed a low sweep at Yoora's ankle.
Yoora moved forward now. She ducked low and threw a palm strike, fast and direct. Nayoung blocked with both arms, the impact pushing her back several steps.
"You okay?" Yoora asked quickly.
"Still here!" Nayoung replied, then rushed forward again.
The two began to clash in bursts—short movements, blocks, light strikes. Dust floated around them like a thin curtain. Nayoung relied on misdirection and speed, while Yoora stayed calm, waiting for a clear opening.
The others watched with growing interest. Even Minseok leaned forward, eyes wide. "She's really trying hard…"
Jinhyu nodded.
Seojun remained silent, simply observing. He watched how Nayoung used her environment, how Yoora adapted without her enhanced perception.
Inside the ring, Nayoung paused for a moment, catching her breath.
Yoora tilted her head. "Tired already?"
"A bit," Nayoung admitted, grinning. "But not giving up yet."
Yoora smiled, then rushed forward again—this time faster.
Nayoung's eyes widened as Yoora closed the gap in a blink, aiming a fast elbow toward her shoulder. Nayoung ducked, rolling to the side and jumping back up.
The dust finally began to settle, and their silhouettes became clear again.
